The General speaks out (Vanessa’s perspective)

To be honest I never thought I would be writing a piece partaining to this situation but nearly a year later here we are.

Before reading this though you should read Shayna and Jessamyn’s statements about the events first which were released yesterday.

You can do so here http://thesportspost.com/blogs/view/mma-jessamyn-duke-shayna-baszler-street-fight

However if you’ve already read their statement you know what this article will contain and as you probably already guest I’m the “super fan turned friend” refered to in the article.

For the people who have been following our site for quite sometime you may recall a time where we did a special show in which I needed prayer, you may also recall me taking a break from the site due to personal issues, and further more if you’re a follower of the site you know myself a long with the rest of them team have tons of love for Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler. Well if you ever wondered why to any of the things listed above this is why.

Now I’m not going to retell the whole entire story because you can read the girls statement for that and quite honestly I don’t want to relive that again.

What I will tell you though are things that happened that weren’t mentioned but I hold near and dear to my heart. (Feel special this is a big deal for me)

As you know we were all waiting for my ride which should’ve been there hours ago. As said in the other article (reefer to above) i insisted to Shayna, Jessamyn and Justin that I was perfectly ok waiting alone but being the awesome people they are they wernt having it.

What wasn’t mentioned that at one point I geeked out over watching the sunset with three bad ass fighters, or that Jessamyn bought me a very berry Hibiscus (my favorite drink from Starbucks) or that Justin gave me some of his food because it was  obvious that I was hungry even though I turned down the offer of said food about three times, or that when it got cold (I didn’t ask for help but received it anyway) in the form of Shayna helping me get my hoodie on. In fact I recall her saying “see arnt your glad we’re here to help”? And boy was I.

Here comes the part that still makes me emotional but also smile like a kid in a candy story. After the incident took place as one could imagine I was pretty distraught. I was sitting in the back of the war wagon (Shayna’s car) crying my eyes out and Jessamyn looks straight at me (bloodied face and all) and says: “hey Vanessa don’t cry. I’d take a baseball bat to the face for you any day and if that’s not love I don’t know what love is” (GUYS THATS LOVE)

The sweetness doesn’t stop there through because both Shayna and Justin also offered words of encouragement that day. I remember crying to justin telling him that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next because I knew I didn’t want to be where I lived at the time and I continued to tell him that my family situation was a bit complicated to which he apologized saying: “Sorry if we made it worse for you” to which I assured him that wasn’t the case and if anything they made it better. Justin then went on and thanked me for all the support I give and that from this moment on they would have my back.

While still crying, came the last heart to heart of that night and it involved Shayna and I. She was still outside waiting to be questioned by the cops as I sat in her car (which is very comfortable might I add) the window happened to be rolled down and she managed to stick her hand through the open space. She took my hand and looked me square in the eyes and said “hey don’t feel bad about anything that happened tonight none of it is your fault” she then asked me “what’s the number one thing in the Queens Army” to which I replied LOYALTY and her response  was :”that’s right, you’re loyal to me and I’m loyal to you, don’t ever forget that”

In truth I think that day was the day The General was born. I mean sure fellow MMA fans had been calling me that for quite sometime but these events made it official.

In all honesty Jessamyn, Shayna and Justin saved my life that day. They put their lives in danger to defend my honor because let’s be real it could’ve been far worse then it was. Yes it was a shitty situation but it turned out for the better for me and started a friendship that I never dreamed of having.

So next time you wonder why I’m constantly defending these fighters here’s your answer. They’re my heroes.

Vanessa’s Total Divas recap

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these and I gotta say it feels good to being doing it again.

Yesterday the much anticipated season 4 of Total Divas premiered on the E network and boy was it a good one. The first episode had two main stories. One of which was the tension between Eva Marie and the rest of the divas locker room. The 2nd story was Natalya channeling her “inner Dominatrix”

Ok so first things first, here are my thoughts on the Eva Marie situation. Now fair warning this may come off as a bit bias since I’m a part of the Red nation but in no way do I intend to sound like a bias journalist because we all know that’s a no no.

Anyway the situation involved Eva Marie is getting private training in Los Angeles with Brian Kendrick as oppose to training in Florida at the WWE Preformance center and the rest of the divas seem to have a problem with that.

Why you may ask? Well because all of them trained in a small warehouse in Florida back when NXT was purely developmental and  was known as FCW. They trained with no AC and hard wooden mats. Back when they were in developmental the Preformance center was non existent so as far as they’re concerened Eva should be thrilled to have the opportunity to train there

While I do understand the rest of the girls fustration why does it really matter? Now I know people will say “because of politics” but to me politics should in no way be involved in wrestling but i guess that’s just the way it is so I digress.

One of the girls main arguments for being upset at Eva is that all of them had to leave home so why shouldn’t she? Come on now you mean to tell me that if Paige, Alicia, the Bella’s and Nattie had the opportunity to train close to home they would turn it down? Hell no they wouldn’t so why are they giving Eva crap for it. Another main point that the girls made but doesn’t make sense is when Nikki said Eva isn’t passionate about the business and she’s just there for the fame. Now tell me how does Nikki know that?? I mean it isn’t Eva’s fault the company decided to throw Eva straight into the main roster with zero experience and further more it’s not her fault she has a marketable look.

Notice how I didn’t mention Naomi early when I was calling them out? While that’s because she never said anything negative. In fact at one point she even told Alicia “why  are you talking crap, why don’t you say it to her face” she continued to say that if she’s still training then why does it matter where she is. One thing I love that she pointed out was that at the End of the day what matters is how you preform when you’re given a chance at the big time.

Another hypocritical aspect that the girls had was them being upset over Eva venting to Lilian Garcia about the situation and yet they where do the exact same thing amongst one another.

The confrontation between Eva and the girls that ended the episode was also upsetting because they all pretty much gained up on Eva and didn’t even give her a chance to say her peace. If you ask me all this drama is not needed and the rest of the divas are over reacting.

I won’t spend to much time on nattie and her dominatrix situation but I will say it served as good comedy relief oh and that Tyson’s outburst was completely unnecessary. However I will say the domenstrix jacket did serve as sick ring attire. All and all this episode was a great season premiere and I look forward to the weeks ahead. I hope you guys enjoyed my review. You can expect them as the weeks go on, so until next time catch you on the flip side.

Breaking News: Jose Aldo out of UFC189

Today was a huge day for the UFC as they announced the release of the Reebok fight kit. That wasn’t the only reason why this day is being talked about though because some disheartening news just came to light and was confirmed by UFC president Dama White himself.

Earlier in the moth UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo sustained an injury that was first reported as a broken rib putting his fight with Conor McGregor in jeopardy sending fans into a frenzy, but was later confirmed as a just a bruised rib and the mayhem died down.

Today however UFC president Dana White said in an interview on sports center that Aldo’s coach informed him the pain was to severe and that Jose Aldo would be pulling out of his scheduled title defense during international fight week.

This makes the 5th title defense Aldo has pulled out of in his career so Dana White and the UFC have made the decision to have a bout for the interim featherweight title.

The new main event of UFC189 will now be Chad Mendes VS Conor McGregor and the winner of that fight will walk out of the octagon as the interim UFC featherweight champion.

UFC189 will take place live on PPV from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on July 11th. The PPV will also feature co main event for the Welterweight title between Robbie Lawer and Rory McDonald.

This announcement is definitely a huge blow to the card along with fight fans alike since the UFC has been hyping up this fight for nearly over a year.

How do you guys feel about this announcement and who are you rooting for Mendes or McGregor??? Let us know in the comments.

In the meantime we here at WrestlingNewsBlog would like to wish Jose Aldo a speedy recovery.

WWE Reportedly interested in UFC’s Jessamyn Duke

The Latest rumor of the rumor mill has me geeking out like no other.

It is being reported on various news sites but more noteably the Wrestling News Observer that people within the WWE are interested in women’s Batemweight fighter Jessamyn “the Gun” Duke

The feeling is that Triple H believes that the success Ronda Rousey has had in the UFC and even in her WrestleMania appearance for the WWE proves that women can main event or at least be a more important factor to the business.

It is being said that not only does the WWE have intrest in Duke but they also have ideas already written out for her. For what it’s worth the WWE has already started their own version of the 4Horsewomen which includes Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch. The original 4horsewomen was a fan proclaimed idea that took the MMA world by storm that includes Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir

It’s said that if the WWE does indeed sign Jessamyn it would be as a contestant in diva search a reality based competition where the next WWE diva is chosen essentially based off looks and skill to go with it.

All of this is just hear say at the moment but it is something to think about. Jessamyn is currently 1-2 in the UFC having lost her last two fights with a professional record of 3-2.

Jessamyn Duke’s next opponent will be Elizabeth Phillips whom she defeated once before as an amateur. The bout is scheduled to take place July 25th at UFC fight night in Chicago. Jessamyn will be returning to the cage after a year being out with a hand injury and waiting to get the call back

Wether this happens are not it should be noted that Duke does have a love and respect for the business so I think she would make a great fit to the roster. Only time will tell but for now the octagon is where you’ll see her

You can follow Jessamyn on Twitter @jessamynduke she’s awesome I promise.

“The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes passes away

I just woke up (I’m a late sleeper) and this is the kind of news nobody wants to wake up too. wwe.com has reported the passing of Virgil Runnels today on June 11th 2015, he was 69

Runnels became a hero to fans around the world thanks to his work ethic, his impassioned interviews and his indomitable spirit. Moreover, Runnels was a dedicated father to WWE Superstars Goldust (Dustin Runnels) and Stardust (Cody Runnels), a caring husband and a creative visionary who helped shape the landscape of WWE long after his in-ring career had ended.

We here at WNB send our deepest condolences to the Runneles family a long with everyone in the WWE UNIVERSE. We lost one of our own today and it’s things like this that out everything in to perspective. Charish the people you love because you never know when they won’t be here anymore.

God bless you all

A Sexy game changer

If any of you follow our site closely you know that I’m one that advocates for women in the wrestling business. I firmly believe we are in a time where females are changing the perception of what it means to be a female in a male dominated business.

Ronda Rousey is doing it in MMA and now Sexy Star is doing it in professional wrestling. Sexy star is a Wrestler/Luchador who competes for the promotion Lucha Underground.

Now why is she the example of what it is to be a game changer in professional wrestling you ask? Why not Sasha Banks or Gail Kim or Santana Garret?? Trust me this isn’t a knock to any of them because I respect them all. They’ve all done some amazing things in the sport of professional wrestling, them and countless others.

Sexy star however is doing something we haven’t seen since the attitude era in WWE, even then it wasn’t done with this much intensity. Numerous times now sexy star has wrestled with men, doing so again this week in a grueling submission match against Pentagon. The match itself was epic. Both parties involved had some pretty amazing spots but the star of the show (no pun intended) was definitely Sexy Star. Let me tell you that girl sure can take a bump.

She went out there and proved that a woman can hang with the guys and look awesome doing it. Pentagon didn’t go easy on her either. He treated her just like he would have any of his opponents. Gender was thrown out the window in this match. I know the topic of man vs woman makes a lot of people uncomfortable but it shouldn’t I mean you watch action and horror movies don’t you? We see stuff like that in them all the time, what makes this any different?

The fact of the matter is both Pentogon and Sexy Star are trained professionals and they know how to take care of one another, sure there is a chance of injury but that can be said for every sport not just professional wrestling.

People need to wake up and start getting with the program. Women are just as bad ass as any male athlete. Hell sometimes if not most of the time women do it better. They are capable of putting on a show and delivering night after night.

Women continue to break down doors every day. Professional wrestling was once a mans world but is quickly being taken over by the ladies. We are experiencing a paradigm shift, a movement if you will and Sexy Star is the poster girl of that movement.

So I’ll end it with this….. Are you ready for the change? Because it’s happening. Don’t get left behind.

Vanessa’s thoughts on NXT Unstopabble

Every time I hear the words NXT I know I’m gong to be in for a treat. It doesn’t matter if it’s the weekly one hour show or one of their two hour specials.

Yesterday was no different. May 20th 2015 was the day NXT Unstoppable took place and from the moment the event was announced I was extremely excited because I knew NXT would deliver.

The show kicked off with an exciting number 1 contenders match for the NXT title featuring the demon Finn Balor vs the king of cuteville Tyler Breeze. This match was originally suppose to be a triple threat but earlier in the day Hedio Itami was attacked by an unknown asilum taking him out of the match up.

Both Breeze and Balor up’d the antey with their entrances. Breeze had an entrance that looked like a fashion show featuring developmental divas Dasha, Gionna, Nhooph, and newest couch for training the girls Sarita formerly of TNA. Balor of corse came out as a demon but his face paint was so much more intense. He even had the eye of Balor painted on his back. If appeared as if blood was dripping from his legs and he even wore a custome that made it look like he had bat wings and spikes on his back. It was epic.

If the entrances were any indication of how the match was going to go, you knew it would be epic and boy oh boy that’s exactly what it was. It was a grueling back and forth match up that could’ve went either way. The crowd was devided and rightfully so. In the end Balor came out on top making him the newest contender for the NXT title.

The 2nd match was (what now is my favorite tag team) of Bayley and Charlotte vs Emma and Dana Brooke. This match also had the crowd devided and it had some solid wrestling. The only complaint (if you even want to call it that) I had about this match would’ve been that I wish Dana would’ve had more in ring time. In the ends the baby faces Bayley and Charlotte got the win; after Charlotte delivered natrual selection to Emma.

Up next was Baron Corbin vs Rhyno in an all out slug fest. There was no technical wrestling just two big guys hell bent on proving they were the force to be reckon with. Eventually Corbin hit the end of days defeating the veteran Ryno.

Now it was time for gold to be up for grabs as Blake and Murphy defended their tag titles against fan favorites Collin Cassady and Enzo Amore. The best part of this match for me was the closing moments. As Enzo was closing in on a victory out comes Alexa Bliss to attack Carmella causing the distraction and costing Enzo and Big Cas the titles. That’s right ladies and gents Bliss is now heel and I’m so excited to see how this will change her character. It should also be noted that apparently Bliss and Blake are a real life couple so its likely that Bliss asked for the pairing.

Up next is what I feel was match of the night as Sasha Banks defended her title against Becky Lynch. Now I’ll be honest up until yesterday I was unable to connect with Lynch. Don’t get me wrong I always recognized her as an incredible wrestler but nothing really stood out to me but then it all changed. Becky made her way to the ring with a new look. Her hair dyed a bright orange. She was wearing a trench coat and these awesome goggle like glasses.(hear me out I know it’s not all about looks but they do help)

Even Sasha up’d her entrance. It had the UFC feel to it as she started from the back stage area making her way to the ring. Just like Balor and Breeze earlier on if the entrances where any hint to what was to come it was going to be awesome, and that it was. In my humble opinion it was better then any other women’s match showcased on an NXT special. Both women redefined what most people think about women’s wrestling and they pretty much threw the term diva out the window. If you watch ONE match from Unstopabble make it this one. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. Both ladies had amazing spots and put their bodies on the line for our entertainment. Although Sasha Banks came out on top successfully defending her title there was no loser in that match. Both. Sasha and Becky where winners last night and they should be proud.

The main event was the anticipated rematch between Kevin Owens and Sami Zyne for the NXT world title. Much like last time the match was a one sided beat down by Owens. Mid match Owens delivered a pop up Powerbomb to Zyne sending him head and back first into the ring apron. Officials quickly rushed to a motionless Zyne, but Owens wouldn’t let up. He kept attacking Zyne. At one point even GM William Regal tried to intervene but Owens quickly disposed of him. Owens dragged Zyne back into the ring where he attempted to beat him down with a chair, but to no avail  because Owens’  attack was interrupted by none other then SAMOE JOE!!!!! (Yes you read that right it’s not a typo) Joe and Owens faced off as the crowd chanted “this is awesome” and “holy sh**” but the champ wanted nothing to do with Joe. He left the ring and even came back for a moment only to tease the crowd. Unstoppable closed with Joe standing tall and the crowd going nuts.

All and all NXT Unstopabble Exceeded all expectations and delivered yet again. After seeing what happened last night the only thing I can say is Vince and his team of writers need to take notes from HHH and company. THAT IS HOW YOU PUT ON A WRESTLING SHOW!!!

The Warmaster returns

Josh Barnett successfully defended his Metamoris Heavyweight title this past Saturday against Ryron Gracie at Metamoris 6 by submitting him via toehold.

Barnett who does English commentary for “New Japan Pro Wrestling which airs every Friday on AXS TV, has been pretty busy as of late.

With The Warmaster conquring the world like it’s nobody’s business many wondered when we would see him in the cage again. After all the last time we saw him compete in the UFC was in December of 2013 at UFC168. Now fans of The baby face asscian can rejoice because they won’t have to wait much longer to see the catch wrestler back in the octagon again.

It was announced Wednesday evening by Vice President and general manager of UFC Asia Ken Berger during media day for Faber vs Edgar that Josh Barnett will be squaring off against Roy Nelson live from Japan in the headlining bout of UFC Fight Night 78 on September 27th

In addition to the fight announcement it was also announced that both Barnett and Nelson will be coaches on a Japan reality tv show called Road to the UFC. The show will feature 8 prospects  with little to no experience gunning to achieve the ultimate dream  of fighting in the UFC.

Filming for the series is set to begin later this month and is expected to take place both in Las Vegas and Japan. Unlike “The Ultimate Fighter,” the athletes are not expected to live together during the duration of filming.

Due to time differences UFC Fight Night 78 will air in North American  September 26th. Broadcast plans have yet to be announced

Josh Barnett has a professional  fight record of(33-7) with a record of (5-2) in the UFC. Opposite of Barnett, Nelson has a professional fight record of (20-11) with a record of (7-7) in the UFC so there is no doubt this bout is going to be one you don’t want to miss.

Are you like myself; super excited for this fight? Let us know in the comments.
