Jordynne Grace & Impact Wrestling Part Ways

Jordynne Grace’s run with Impact Wrestling has come to an end.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Grace will be parting ways with the company for now. Her contract expires this month.

The current plan is for Grace to take some time off from wrestling where she’ll be focusing on some additional projects. It should be noted that there has been interest from higher ups in multiple companies.

Finally, it was noted that Grace has reached millionaire status through her paywall site. She often posts adult content on that platform.

Santino Marella Returns

Santino Marella made his return during the countdown show. He was the victim of backstage attacks from Dirty Dango recently on IMPACT on AXS TV. He made his return following Dango losing his match against Joe Hendry by disqualification with a low blow. A beat down from Dango ensued and Marella hit the ring to fend off Dango.

Bully Ray Returns

Following the main event, Scott D’Amore made good on his promise to strap the belt around Steve Maclin’s waist. Afterward, Bully Ray came through the crowd and entered the ring, blindsiding Scott D’Amore. Maclin and Ray grabbed a table and looked to cover it in lighter fluid. Matthew Rehwoldt left his commentary position to try and help D’Amore only to be sprayed with lighter fluid. PCO returned to the ring and brawled with Maclin. The Motor City Machine Guns attempted to break things up, but was overpowered by Ray. Ray then set the table on fire and power-bombed D’Amore through it.

Tony Khan Comments On Rumors Of A Brand Split In AEW

With Collision set to debut next month, will AEW split its roster between their new show and Dynamite?

AEW‘s newest weekly show, a two-hour Saturday series called Collision, is set to begin next month, June 17, from the United Center at Chicago. Much of the conversation has been about whether CM Punk will be there (the location announcement seems to confirm that he will be), but there’s perhaps an even bigger topic to be addressed for the company’s long term future.

In a media call in the lead up to this week’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, Tony Khan spoke about Collision and addressed rumors that AEW would be doing a brand split between Dynamite and Collision, similar to what WWE does with Raw and SmackDown. “I haven’t given a lengthy explanation yet for what I’m planning regarding the future of the roster and how people will be allocated across Dynamite and Collision and our other shows. It’s a great question, certainly. I can see why wrestling fans all over the world would be interested and curious about that. That’s frankly by design that we want to build that curiosity in and get people wondering exactly what you’re asking, ‘what’s the future of the AEW roster, and what does this all mean going forward after Double or Nothing?’ It’s a really good question and something we’ll be excited to follow up on.” (h/t Fightful)

Backstage Update On Mercedes Mone’s NJPW Contract

As previously reported, Mercedes Mone suffered an injury, believed to be a broken ankle, in the main event of NJPW Resurgence while she was wrestling Willow Nightingale on Sunday night.

Mone was supposed to become the first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, but when she went for a code red off the top rope and slipped, resulting in the injury, plans had to be changed with Willow going over.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the former IWGP Women’s Champion agreed to a long-term deal on April 27th.

“Mone had agreed to a longer-term deal with New Japan when her original deal expired on 4/27. We were told that the New Japan Strong championship and belt were created when she agreed to the longer term deal and both were created for her, after she showed strong drawing power for the San Jose show which sold out the Civic Auditorium,” Meltzer wrote.
