Edge Addresses Rumors Of Troubled Contract Negotiations With WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Edge has shared a video on his X account in which he addresses some of the rumors pertaining to his current WWE contract situation. It was recently reported that both parties had reached a stalemate in regard to an extension, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. According to the veteran, there are no hard feelings between him and WWE, and he still loves the promotion, describing it as the “dream cake.”

“I didn’t come at them with some crazy contract or anything. They didn’t deny me. I have a contract extension sitting in my inbox. I just don’t know what to do. The first time I had to retire, it was forced. This time, the choice is in my lap and it’s a lot harder.

Edge went on to say that his match against Sheamus on last week’s episode of “WWE SmackDown” is the highlight of his career. He described it as a special night and he doesn’t know if he’ll ever be able to top it, so he needs time to process the experience and think about his next move.

There have also been rumors of Edge joining AEW after his current WWE contract expires. He didn’t mention Tony Khan’s promotion in the video, but he did share some news about his future plans.

“Just know that whatever it is that I do, whether it’s Percy Jackson — which is coming up soon — or it’s wrestling or it’s sitting in my rocking chair, it’s because I’m having fun. And having fun at this stage of my life and raising my kids are the two most important things. So I hope that clears stuff up.”

Terry Funk, WWE Hall Of Famer & Hardcore Wrestling Legend Dies At Age 79

WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk has died at the age of 79. Ric Flair shared the news of Funk’s death on X/Twitter; Funk’s friend Mick Foley also shared a tribute on the platform. Terry Funk was predeceased by his wife Vicki and leaves behind two daughters Stacy and Brandee.

Terry and his brother Dory Jr. followed in their father’s footsteps by entering his promotion Western States Sports in the 1960s. Terry went on to spend 12 years in Championship Wrestling from Florida and defeated Jack Brisco for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship during that time. He reigned for over a year until Harley Race defeated him.

The Funk brothers also spent several years working with All Japan Pro Wrestling. In the midst of that, Terry debuted in WWF in 1985. He challenged Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship and eventually teamed with Hoss Funk to beat The Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana at WrestleMania II. Funk also worked in WCW before making his way to ECW where he had iconic matches against the likes of Sabu, Shane Douglas, Raven, Stevie Richards, and The Sandman while becoming a two-time ECW Champion.

During his second WWF run, Funk portrayed Chainsaw Charlie in a tag team with Cactus Jack. At WrestleMania 14, the duo were able to beat The New Age Outlaws to win the WWE World Tag Team Championship for a day. Following that, Funk and Foley split to set up a No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere Match that Foley won.

The remainder of Funk’s career was highlighted by more time in AJPW, MLW, TNA, and other indie promotions until his retirement match in 2017. He received his WWE Hall of Fame induction alongside Dory Jr. in 2009 and then went on to induct Foley in 2013. In 2021, Funk was diagnosed with dementia.

WWE has released a tribute video for the late Terry Funk.

Behind-the-scenes of Matt Cardona and Steph De Lander’s Ghostbusters entrance, full ‘Deathmatch Busters’ theme song released

This past weekend’s GCW Homecoming event wich saw Matt Cardona and Steph De Lander appearing in Ghostbusters uniforms, even making their entrance inside a replica Ecto-1, Ghostbusters News has been provided a behind-the-scenes look at the blood-soaked carnage, in addition to the spoof theme song, “Deathmatch Busters” now being available online.

When it came to the WrestleMania-quality entrance, Cardona, the former Long Island Iced-Z, went local, enlisting the services of the Ecto-1 NJ, a fan car that’s become a staple of the annual Ghostbusters Day celebration at New York City’s Hook & Ladder 8, even being set to host film location tours this fall.

Instagram user and master builder behind the replica, Ectotech, reached out to Ghostbusters News, sharing a handful of photos and videos, mentioning that while the car was transported on a trailer, getting it to the arena was anything but easy. As the bell time loomed, traffic was said to have slowed thanks to those in surrounding vehicles attempting to grab photos. Luckily, the Ectombile arrived, was unloaded, and driven to the arena in time for Cardona and De Lander’s match, with the duo, known as Deathmatch Royalty, having a gruesome brawl with Nick Gage and Maki Itoh.

Another talking point coming out of the event was Cardona and De Lander’s entrance theme song. An obvious spoof on Ray Parker Jr.’s 1984 chart-topper, soon after the match, it was revealed that Downstait was the band behind “Deathmatch Busters,” with the song now being made available through SoundCloud.

Paul Wight Gives Health Update, Teases AEW All In 2023 Appearance

In a recent interview with DAZN Wrestling, Paul Wight (formerly The Big Show) provided an update on his fitness status following the knee surgery he underwent last year.

Wight described the intense recovery process and teased an appearance at AEW All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On bouncing back from his knee surgery in 2022: “It’s amazing how difficult the knee is versus the hip. I think when I had my hips done, they came along a lot stronger, a lot faster. The knees are a lot more difficult. The rehab’s a lot more intensive. The pain afterward is a lot more intensive. They told me that going into it, but I didn’t believe them. But yeah, it’s been pretty intense. I’ve got full range of motion. I have more range of motion with my fixed knee than I did with my knee before. I’ve got 136-degree flexion and I’ve got zero [degree] straightening, so I’m above average. My knee hasn’t moved that good in 14 years.”

On when audiences can expect to see him back in the ring: “I would have to say if I was a betting person because I’m not allowed to stooge, I’d say the odds are pretty good that I’ll be here at Wembley… If I’m a gambling man, which I’m not, I would bet very strongly that there’s a high, high probability that Captain Insano will probably make it to Wembley.”

Report – Rey Fenix Pulled From AEW All In 2023 Match

Rey Fenix will no longer be appearing in the Stadium Stampede match at Sunday’s All In 2023 pay-per-view event.

Fightful Select is reporting that Fenix, who was originally set to team with Eddie Kingston, Penta and Best Friends against the Blackpool Combat Club and several mystery partners, has been removed from the bout.

The reason for Fenix’s removal is related to either travel or visa issues. He is reportedly not injured. The company is planning to explain Fenix’s removal from the match on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

As of this writing, there is no word on who will be replacing Rey or whether the match will be adjusted with less competitors taking part in it.

On Tuesday’s media conference call to promote AEW All In 2023, AEW President Tony Khan stated that there would “probably be some other changes to the card necessitated by things happening in the real world. Stuff, in some cases, stuff that is nobody’s fault, but stuff that is not related to the world of professional wrestling.”
