WWE Reportedly Targeting Former NJPW Star Jeff Cobb

WWE’s recent wave of free-agent signings could be continuing, as reports indicate that former NEVER Openweight Champion Jeff Cobb might be heading to the company. According to Fightful Select, WWE has expressed interest in signing Cobb, who previously turned down an opportunity with the company in favor of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

One source even claimed that Cobb is already listed on WWE’s internal roster, though this has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, AEW sources reportedly do not expect Cobb to be heading their way, suggesting that if he leaves NJPW, WWE could be his next destination.

Cobb’s NJPW Future in Question

Cobb is currently set to compete in the New Japan Cup, where he faces former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito in the second round. His recent frustrations about his lack of success in NJPW—including underwhelming performances in the G1 Climax—have fueled speculation that he may be on his way out. Given his standing in NJPW’s United Empire faction, previously led by AEW star Will Ospreay, a potential departure would mark a major shift in his career.

The outcome of his upcoming tournament match could provide further clues regarding his future. If Cobb suffers an early elimination, it may signal that NJPW is preparing for his exit.

WWE’s Free Agent Surge Continues

If Cobb does sign with WWE, he would join a growing list of high-profile acquisitions. The company has already brought in Penta, Ricky Saints (formerly Ricky Starks), Jade Cargill, Ethan Page, and Lexis King (formerly Brian Pillman Jr.), along with top international talents like Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. Additionally, former AEW star Malakai Black has been rumored to be on WWE’s radar, with creative reportedly pitching ideas for his return despite no official confirmation.

With WWE continuing to reshape its roster with fresh talent, Cobb’s potential arrival could add another dynamic powerhouse to the mix. His blend of strength, agility, and technical prowess would make him a strong fit for the company’s heavyweight division.

Stay tuned as more details emerge on Cobb’s future and whether WWE will land yet another major free agent.

Typhoon Says Natural Disasters Are Part Of 2025 WWE Hall Of Fame Class

With WrestleMania 41 just around the corner, the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025 is beginning to take shape. Already announced for induction are Triple H, Michelle McCool, and Lex Luger, and now, it appears WWE has chosen their tag team inductees—but it’s not the duo many expected.

Despite speculation that Demolition could be getting the nod this year, former WWE star Typhoon revealed that The Natural Disasters, the powerhouse team of himself and the late Earthquake, will be entering the Hall of Fame next month.

Typhoon Confirms the News

During an appearance on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Typhoon—real name Fred Ottman—shared the big news, expressing his gratitude for the honor.

“It is an honor. It was crazy when I got that phone call and they told me that. Mr. Prichard called me. He’s an awesome guy, and I couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘Wow, what an incredible thing.’ I always say there’s so many guys that are so worthy to be in there that aren’t yet. For this to happen, it’s just amazing.”

A Short but Impactful WWE Run

The Natural Disasters formed in May 1991, when Earthquake (John Tenta) and Typhoon (then known as Tugboat) joined forces under the management of Jimmy Hart. The two massive competitors initially worked as heels, engaging in a feud with the Legion of Doom. However, their run as villains didn’t last long. In early 1992, Jimmy Hart turned his back on them in favor of Ted DiBiase and IRS of Money Inc., prompting the Natural Disasters to turn babyface.

The feud with Money Inc. led to their crowning moment on July 20, 1992, when they defeated DiBiase and IRS to win the WWE World Tag Team Championship. Though their reign lasted just a few months—dropping the belts back to Money Inc. in October—the duo remained a popular act until Earthquake left WWE in early 1993, bringing their partnership to an end. There were plans for a feud between the two, but Earthquake’s departure meant fans never got to see the former champions collide.

A Well-Deserved Honor

Though their time together in WWE was relatively brief, the Natural Disasters left a lasting impression on fans with their sheer size, strength, and surprising agility for big men. Their induction into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025 ensures that their contributions to the tag team division will not be forgotten.

With just a few weeks to go until WrestleMania weekend, it’ll be interesting to see who else joins this year’s Hall of Fame class. Who else do you think deserves a spot? Let us know in the comments!

Stephanie McMahon’s ESPN+ Series “Stephanie’s Places” Set to Debut on March 26

Stephanie McMahon is stepping back into the WWE spotlight—but not in the boardroom. Instead, she’s set to launch her own interview series, Stephanie’s Places, which will premiere on ESPN+ on Wednesday, March 26. The ten-episode series is produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, alongside ESPN and WWE, and will feature McMahon sitting down with some of the biggest names in wrestling history.

With Stephanie’s Places, McMahon will take a page out of Manning’s playbook, mirroring his Manning’s Places series by exploring the personal and professional journeys of WWE’s top stars in locations that hold significance for them.

“WWE has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember,” McMahon said. “I’m looking forward to having viewers join me as we visit some of the most iconic stars of past and present, in places of meaning for them, and hear how they overcame adversity to become who they are today.”

Star-Studded Lineup for Season One

The series will kick off with a blockbuster first episode, as Stephanie McMahon sits down with CM Punk in an interview recorded just before WWE SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland. Given Punk’s tumultuous history with WWE and his shocking return last year, this conversation is sure to turn heads.

Other major WWE names set to appear throughout the season include:

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes
  • Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley
  • WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
  • Charlotte Flair
  • Roman Reigns and The Bloodline
  • Pat McAfee
  • The Undertaker
  • Triple H (McMahon’s husband and WWE’s Chief Content Officer)

The season finale, airing May 28, will be one of the most emotional episodes, as McMahon interviews John Cena. With Cena inching closer to retirement, the episode will serve as a reflection on his legendary career and his impact on WWE.

A Unique Look at WWE’s Biggest Names

While WWE programming is no stranger to documentaries and behind-the-scenes specials, Stephanie’s Places offers a fresh, intimate perspective. Rather than focusing solely on in-ring careers, McMahon’s series will explore personal struggles, triumphs, and the roads that led these superstars to where they are today.

With its mix of nostalgia, storytelling, and insight from some of the biggest names in wrestling, Stephanie’s Places is shaping up to be must-watch content for WWE fans.

Hardy Boyz Retain TNA Tag Titles in Thrilling Opener

The legendary Hardy Boyz kicked off the night in style, putting their TNA World Tag Team Championships on the line against the high-flying duo of Axiom & Nathan Frazer (Fraxiom). The challengers brought the fight, overwhelming the veterans with their speed and aerial offense, including a spectacular avalanche Spanish Fly-Phoenix Splash combo that nearly secured the win.

However, the Hardys proved why they’re still one of the best teams in the business. A miscommunication between Axiom and Frazer allowed Jeff Hardy to capitalize, hitting the Swanton Bomb on Frazer to retain the gold.

Jordynne Grace Outlasts Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez had a game plan against Jordynne Grace—targeting the knee and trying to keep the powerhouse grounded. However, Grace’s raw strength proved too much. The TNA Knockouts Champion weathered the storm and delivered the Juggernaut Driver for the decisive victory.

Oba Femi Retains NXT Title in Brutal Battle with Moose

In a champion vs. champion showdown, NXT Champion Oba Femi put his title on the line against TNA X-Division Champion Moose, and the match was every bit as physical as expected. The two powerhouses traded heavy blows, with Moose even driving Oba through the announce table.

Despite the punishment, Femi dug deep and sealed the victory with a thunderous powerbomb to remain NXT Champion. Before the match, he even had a surprise backstage encounter with The Undertaker, who gave him some words of encouragement—an endorsement that speaks volumes about Femi’s future.

Je’Von Evans Survives a War in Street Fight Against Ethan Page

“All Ego” Ethan Page and Je’Von Evans took their rivalry to the extreme in a chaotic Street Fight. Chairs, tables, and steel steps were all in play as both men threw everything at each other.

After a brutal back-and-forth battle, Evans sealed the win with a springboard Ace Crusher onto a chair. However, his celebration was short-lived—mysterious masked figures stormed the ring and left Evans laid out in a four-man powerbomb. The identity of this faction remains unknown, but their impact was immediately felt.

Stephanie Vaquer Wins Title-for-Title Main Event, Becomes Double Champion

In the night’s highly anticipated main event, NXT Women’s Champion Giulia and NXT Women’s North American Champion Stephanie Vaquer put their respective titles on the line in a winner-take-all showdown. The two warriors left it all in the ring, with Giulia coming close to victory multiple times, including locking in a triangle choke and connecting with Arrivederci.

But Vaquer wouldn’t be denied. After surviving the onslaught, she delivered back-to-back SBBs to put Giulia down for the three-count. With the win, Stephanie Vaquer not only retained the North American title but also captured the NXT Women’s Championship, cementing her place as one of the top stars in the division.

Other Highlights from NXT:

  • Jaida Parker received advice from Mickie James, who told her to seize her moment.

Final Thoughts

This week’s NXT was packed with action and major developments. Stephanie Vaquer’s historic win headlines the night, while Oba Femi and the Hardy Boyz continued their dominant reigns. Meanwhile, Je’Von Evans may have won his match, but a dangerous new faction has emerged.

Lex Luger to Be Inducted Into WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025

WWE has officially announced that wrestling legend Lex Luger will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025. He joins Triple H and Michelle McCool as the latest names set to receive the prestigious honor during WrestleMania weekend.

The news was revealed in a heartwarming moment shared on WWE’s social media. In the video, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes personally delivered the announcement to Luger on February 19, just ahead of the Elimination Chamber 2025 event. Rhodes surprised Luger in a room where he was sitting alongside Diamond Dallas Page (DDP)—who has been a major part of Luger’s rehabilitation efforts in recent years. Upon hearing the news, Luger, with encouragement from DDP, stood up to embrace Rhodes in an emotional exchange.

A Long-Awaited Honor

Luger’s Hall of Fame induction has been a debated topic for years. Many fans and wrestlers alike have questioned why it took so long for WWE to recognize his contributions. Some have speculated that his past controversies, particularly his connection to the late Miss Elizabeth (Elizabeth Hulette) during her final days, may have played a role in WWE’s delay. Hulette tragically passed away in 2003 due to an accidental overdose, and at the time, Luger was heavily scrutinized due to his presence in her life.

Despite the wait, many in the industry believe this honor is long overdue. Hall of Famers JBL and Ron Simmons have been vocal about their support for Luger’s induction. Simmons recently spoke at the For The Love Of Wrestling convention, stating:

“I think Lex should be in the Hall of Fame, there’s no doubt about it, and I don’t know why he’s not, but Lex should be in the Hall of Fame. Lex was an incredible star, he is as big an icon as anybody in this business, and for him not to be in the Hall of Fame, I think, is wrong.”

Luger’s Perspective on the Hall of Fame

While fans and fellow wrestlers have long pushed for his induction, Luger himself has maintained a humble stance. In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, recorded just one day before he received the news, Luger shared his thoughts on possibly being inducted. He expressed optimism but made it clear that, regardless of the honor, he was at peace with his career and contributions to the industry.

Luger’s journey in wrestling saw him rise to fame in WCW, where he became a multi-time champion, before making a significant impact in WWE during the early ‘90s. From his unforgettable body slam on Yokozuna aboard the USS Intrepid to his runs as NWA and WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Luger’s legacy is undeniable.

Now, as he prepares to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame, fans and peers alike can celebrate the career of a man who helped shape an era of professional wrestling.

Backstage Tension? Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler Reportedly Had a Heated Confrontation

Jade Cargill has made a dominant impact in WWE since arriving in late 2023, quickly capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships twice alongside Bianca Belair. However, it appears her run hasn’t been without some backstage controversy.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cargill and Shayna Baszler were involved in a backstage confrontation a few months ago, prior to Cargill’s recent injury. The report states that Baszler was ready to fight Cargill after the former AEW TBS Champion allegedly rubbed some of the Raw women’s locker room the wrong way. However, WWE management stepped in before things escalated further.

What Led to the Conflict?

While details remain scarce, sources suggest the tension wasn’t due to just one incident but rather a series of issues that had built up over time. Some of it reportedly stemmed from their in-ring interactions during the feud between Cargill & Belair vs. Baszler & Zoey Stark, while other factors were unrelated to their matches.

Interestingly, one source claimed that while Cargill’s issues on Raw were notable, the locker room tensions on the SmackDown side were reportedly even worse—though no further details were given.

What’s Next for Cargill?

Despite the reported backstage friction, Cargill remains a major star in WWE’s women’s division, and her team with Bianca Belair has been a focal point of Raw’s tag scene. With Cargill currently sidelined due to injury, it will be interesting to see how things unfold when she returns to action.

Backstage tension isn’t uncommon in WWE, but will this reported clash with Baszler have any long-term effects on Cargill’s position in the company?

Cargill will appear on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown to address her attack on Naomi.
