Dean Ambrose Reportedly Leaving WWE Soon, Gives Notice

Dean Ambrose has given his notice to WWE, according to PWTorch’s Wade Keller. He is not set to re-sign with the company when his contract expires after WrestleMania 35 in April. There is also the possibility that he could be leaving sooner if there are no plans for him.

Ambrose has reportedly been frustrated with his character development for some time now. According to the report, he recently reached his breaking point. The report goes on to say that he was offered a new contract a few weeks ago with a significant pay raise. Instead of negotiating, Ambrose told management that he was rejecting the new deal this past weekend, including directly to Vince McMahon in a meeting.

It is unknown at this moment if he plans to sign with AEW or if his wife, RAW commentator Renee Young, will be leaving too.

When asked by The Torch, a member of the WWE roster stated that while Ambrose is impossible to read, he “hates hokey sh-t”, which has been a part of his run with the company for years. It was reported that Ambrose’s intentions were known to a select few members of the WWE roster.

Since returning from injury a few months ago, Ambrose has been in a feud with Seth Rollins, adding a more unstable aspect to his character. Many of his promos have involved blaming the audience. After winning the Intercontinental Championship last December, he lost it quickly after to Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match earlier this month. He had a lackluster appearance at the Royal Rumble and this past Monday on RAW, Ambrose lost to Rollins and was ejected from the ring by Nia Jax and Tamina.

Ambrose made his main roster debut in 2012 as a member of The Shield. Since then, he has become a Grand Slam Champion, winning the WWE Title along with three Intercontinental Title reigns and one United States Title reign.

It was mentioned on this week’s post-Royal Rumble WWE RAW that Ember Moon was out of action with an injury.

In the video below, Moon reveals that she will undergo immediate elbow surgery.

“Last year when I entered the Royal Rumble I wrestled with one arm and this year was no different,” Moon said. “Just sadly, I messed up my elbow really bad and now I have to have immediate surgery. It’s hard to be here right now and just see everyone competing, and knowing that I’m on the shelf, and I don’t know how long but it is a while. So, I’m trying to stay positive, I’m trying to stay as positive as I can be in this situation. Hopefully here’s to the best, and I’ll see you guys soon.”

Moon worked the 30-woman Royal Rumble match on Sunday, entering the match in the #6 spot. She was later eliminated by Alexa Bliss for the 24th elimination of the match.

Shane Helms Returning to WWE In Backstage Role

As we previously reported, Abyss and Sonjay Dutt left Impact Wrestling last week and will be starting with WWE in a backstage capacity.

Wrestling Inc. reports that former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Shane Helms will be returning to the company as a backstage producer. Helms had been working with Ring of Honor since this past June.

Helms brings nearly 20 years of experience in the business on a national level, dating back to his signing with WCW in 1999. His biggest career run came when he started dressing as a superhero named “The Hurricane” in the WWF in 2001.

During a recent media call, Paul “Triple H” Levesque discussed the company increasing their efforts in hiring talent in backstage roles.

“We’re always on the lookout for talented people that can contribute to the product and to the WWE as a whole,” Levesque said. “It doesn’t matter where they’re from, the quality people that are talented, that have a passion for this and want it to go to the next level and succeed, I’m always looking forward to those people.”

Helms is expected to begin with WWE today. Wrestling Inc. has learned that Abyss and Dutt are believed to start their new roles by mid-February. Levesque indicated that their roles are not yet fully defined.

“Sonjay coming in here, Abyss coming in here [in] behind the scenes roles, we’re going to see where that best fit is for them,” Levesque said. “I’ve heard of them, I know of them.

“So many people speak highly of them and their jobs over the years, from a talent standpoint and other standpoint, so, I’m looking forward to working with them and seeing where they best fit through all of this, as we all are. Everybody here will determine where they fit, what they want to do, and how they can help contribute in the best way to the product going forward.”
