WWE 205 Live Status Update

WWE 205 Live is scheduled to air live on the WWE Network this Friday at 10pm ET from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, according to F4Wonline.com. This will be right after SmackDown goes off the air on FOX.

As we’ve noted, the future of 205 Live remains up in the air following the SmackDown move from Tuesdays to Fridays. WWE ended up nixing last Tuesday’s new episode of 205 Live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, shortly after they had announced Tony Nese vs. Humberto Carrillo and Akira Tozawa vs. Brian Kendrick for the show. It was reported that a “late call” made at the arena led to the show being nixed. The show was to air as a new, live episode after the SmackDown FOX premiere ended. WWE aired a replay of the September 24 205 Live episode instead, at 9pm ET, and then a replay of the weekly WWE NXT episode at 10pm ET.

WWE has not aired a new 205 Live episode since September 24. It’s been reported that WWE officials have discussed several options for the show, including doing away with it altogether. Triple H recently made comments about 205 Live being ran under the NXT umbrella, and that was made clear last week when they re-branded the WWE Cruiserweight Title as the NXT Cruiserweight Title. Drew Gulak will defend that title against #1 contender Lio Rush on this Wednesday’s NXT USA Network episode. It was also recently revealed that the NXT creative team is now booking the cruiserweights and handling 205 Live.

Sasha Banks Reportedly Injured At WWE Hell In A Cell

Sasha Banks suffered an injury at Sunday’s WWE Hell In a Cell pay-per-view.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is keeping quiet about her injury, and it’s not known when she will return to action. Banks reportedly does not want the injury to become public, however she has been saying that it’s not a concussion.

Banks has been pulled from the ring, according to PWInsider. Word going around is that Banks suffered a back injury during the Cell match with Lynch on Sunday.

There’s no word yet on the severity of Banks’ injury or when she will be back in action.

WWE RAW Preview 10/7/19

Tonight’s WWE RAW will take place from the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California with fallout from last night’s Hell In a Cell pay-per-view.

As of this posting WWE had not yet released a official preview for tonight’s RAW.

What WWE has announced is that pro boxer Tyson Fury will be on tonight’s RAW to further the new feud with Braun Strowman. The only match announced for tonight’s RAW is a Last Woman Standing match between Lacey Evans and Natalya. There will also be a Draft Showcase to hype the upcoming WWE Draft, but WWE did not explain what that Showcase is.

Backstage Notes On The WWE Hell In A Cell Main Event Finish

As noted earlier, fans online and fans inside of the Golden1 Center in Sacramento, California were not happy with the way the Hell In a Cell main event between “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins ended. Fans in the arena made several negative chants after the show ended, and many hung around after the show ended, just to voice their frustration. Chants included “AEW!” and “Refund!”

In an update, PWInsider reports that the creative idea behind the Wyatt vs. Rollins finish was that the referee officially stopped the match after Rollins did the sledgehammer shot to Wyatt’s head, while Wyatt was under the pile of weapons.

While the finish led many to believe that the match ended in a DQ, the official idea is that the match ended due to referee stoppage.

To go along with this, the WWE website officially lists the main event as ending by Match Stoppage. They wrote the following at the end of the match recap, noting that the referee called the match off:

“Clearly sensing that a line was about to be crossed, the referee tried to stop Rollins from using the hammer. But The Beastslayer did it anyway, bringing the tool straight down on the whole pile, causing the ref to wave off the match while a crew of medics tended to Wyatt. Rollins, who was clearly on the verge of madness, made the mistake of straddling his fallen foe and quickly found himself ensnared in the Mandible Claw as Wyatt rose up from his back and continued his attack.Rollins was helpless to respond as Wyatt took him outside the ring, exposing the arena floor by tearing up the mat. It became clear that the Universal Championship was the last thing on Wyatt’s mind. Wyatt smashed Rollins face-first into the arena floor with Sister Abigail and applied the Mandible Claw once again. This time, the writhing Rollins was spared only by the signature shrieks that precede Wyatt’s exit. Hell in a Cell did not end with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt as Universal Champion. But clearly, he’d gotten what he came for all the same.”

Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez & Vinny Rip WWE Over SmackDown & Hell In A Cell Main Event

Bryan Alvarez goes off on WWE’s arrogance in the last week, from doing everything in their power to counter AEW, failing to produce talent they advertised to SmackDown, Hell in a Cell build and more.

Vinny, and most definitely Bryan, lose it over everything regarding the main event of Hell in a Cell, especially the finish.

Watch both video’s below:

Fans Chant “AEW!” And “Refunds!” Over The WWE Hell In A Cell Main Event (Photos, Videos)

The 2019 WWE Hell In a Cell pay-per-view ended with “bulls–t!” and “AEW!” chants coming from the crowd.

The main event saw WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins retain his title over “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, but by disqualification after Rollins used a sledgehammer to bash Wyatt in the head while he was buried under other debris in the middle of the ring. The finish saw Rollins deliver more than a dozen Stomps and superkicks to Wyatt, but they weren’t enough to get the job done.

The pay-per-view went off the air with Wyatt heading to the back, as his laugh echoed out across the arena. Fans had been booing since Rollins delivers the onslaught of offense on Wyatt while he was down, and they continued until the show went off the air.

As seen below, fans inside the Golden1 Center in Sacramento, CA also chanted “refund!” after the show went off the air.

Below are a few shots from the main event, including the post-show “refund!” chant:

Rollins got a sledgehammer, referee tried to talk Rollins out of using. Rollins used the Sledgehammer. Ref called for the bell. Doesn’t make any sence, HIAC is suppose to be No DQ. Fans are booing and chant bull sh*t.

Winner by DQ: The Fiend

After the bell, Rollins immediately looks on from the corner, shocked. Rollins jumps up and yells while Wyatt is still laid flat out on his back. Officials and paramedics rush down to the ring. The red light is still focused on the ring. Fans start chanting for AEW as Wyatt is rolled over onto a stretcher board. Rollins approaches and Wyatt applies the Mandible Claw out of nowhere. Wyatt manhandles Rollins and sends him out of the ring. The Cell has been raised now. Fans chant restart the match. Wyatt drops Rollins on the floor with Sister Abigail. Wyatt exposes the floor and drops Rollins on the exposed concrete with another Sister Abigail. Wyatt applies the Mandible again and this time the lights start flashing as the menacing sound plays over the arena. Fans boo as the arena goes black after we see Wyatt choking Rollins. The boos continue but all we hear and see is black. The sound hits again as Wyatt is shown standing there. Fans are still booing. Wyatt disappears and all we hear is his laugh go out over the arena. The 2019 Hell In a Cell pay-per-view goes off the air.

News On Cain Velasquez – WWE Deal

After Brock Lesnar squashed Kofi Kingston to become the new WWE Champion on Friday’s SmackDown, Cain Velasquez made his debut with WWE as he came down to the ring with Rey Mysterio.

On this past Monday’s RAW, Lesnar crushed Mysterio and his son, Dominick, so the story from that is Mysterio has brought Velasquez in to take on Lesnar. Their match is reportedly set for WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 31.

The latest Wrestling Observer Radio gave some more insight into the deal between WWE and Velasquez. In AAA, Cain made his debut under a mask and performed a number of high flying moves, WWE wasn’t looking for that type of persona as that was all removed as WWE looked to have Cain go back to more of his MMA roots.

Reportedly, the deal between the two sides had some “snags,” including WWE pulling the deal off the table after being unhappy that word of Cain signing with WWE came out early. Apparently, the deal was initially pulled on Monday before RAW started.

Dave Meltzer noted that in Cain’s ESPN interview that he said he wasn’t signed with WWE yet. Meltzer was told from WWE that Cain was indeed signed, and said it made sense as WWE wouldn’t run an angle to this magnitude if they didn’t already have the former UFC Champion locked up. Velasquez had also reportedly been in talks with AEW and NJPW.

Velasquez, who previously defeated Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Title back in 2010, is making a transition from MMA to pro wrestling. He reportedly has notified UFC officials of withdrawing from the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool, retiring him from active competition.

WWE Hell In A Cell 10/6/19

October 6, 2019 at 7:00 PM ET (Preshow at 6:00 PM ET) Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California.

Only four matches have been announced for the event after SmackDown aired on Friday which is the most incomplete card for a major WWE event with 24 hours to go. It’s unclear as to why so few matches have been announced for the show aside from making the assumption that creative has spent all its time on the season premieres of its TV programming this week.

RAW Women’s championship – Hell in a Cell: (C) Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks

WWE Mae Young Classic Tournament Returning

WWE’s NXT ticket website is advertising the Mae Young Classic will be returning for tapings on November 2 and 3 at Full Sail Live in Winter Park, Florida. As of this writing, tickets have not yet gone on sale. No word yet on when the episodes will stream.

This will be the third year for the all-women’s tournament as WWE has held two previous in 2018 and 2017.

Kairi Sane defeated Shayna Bazler in the finals of the first tournament. Toni Storm won the second after beating Io Shirai.

Back in August, Triple H confirmed the Mae Young Classic would be returning this year, just a bit later than usual.

“The bandwidth of sometime things happening, when you talk about just around the corner as we are coming into the middle of August, just around the corner, you’re talking about massive shifts to Fox and massive shifts with RAW with USA Network, and all of that, trying to ramp up for all of it, and how that all works,” Triple H said. “You know, you’ve heard it said, I’ve said it here before, that when one piece shifts, it’s like dominoes, right? It moves everything and in our business it’s absolutely that way. So, when we shift to Fox it changes everything about SmackDown as a brand, and where it goes and how it routes, and everything. It shifts RAW a little bit, it moves all the pieces so there’s a lot of prep that happens to that.

“So, a little bit of some stuff got pushed to a little bit later in the year this year, and the planning stages, just because of bandwidth of trying to get it all done, all in the right period of time … There’s tons of things happening all at once and then right after that you’re shifting into the Fox and USA shifts, which are epic events in and of themselves. There’s so much planning that’s going around it, so some of it just got delayed until a little bit later in the year, but there will be announcements around Mae Young Classic and everything coming up soon.”
