Ronda Rousey Says She’s Ready For WWE

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, UFC Women’s Bantamweight
Champion Ronda Rousey was asked if she’s ready for WWE.

Rousey said: “I’m ready. I’ve seen NXT. I remember Nattie and Charlotte’s match for the title. Nattie was actually training with the original Four Horsewomen to get ready for that fight. I have so many obligations, but I really want to find a way to make it happen. I’m a huge fan wrestling, and I would like to see the position of women in the sport continue to improve, so if I can be a part of it, great.”

Rousey also talked about WWE’s decision to focus more on the Divas division:

“I’m really encouraged by the progress I’ve see with what they’re doing with the women in WWE, but I feel like there’s a lot more than can be done. They’re doing some of it now, too. I’m really excited that they’ve brought up all these great women from NXT, who are all different from the normal mold they would use for the Divas division. I’m not going to take credit for anything, but I definitely want to be part of it as much as I can.”

WWE Divas Champion Charlotte responded on Twitter to Rousey’s Rolling Stone interview:

Ronda Rousey Says She Wants To Be WWE Divas Champion

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey mentioned at yesterday’s UFC 193 media event that she wants to become WWE Divas Champion at sometime.

“What I would love to do, I got an Olympic medal, I would want to retire from MMA as one of the greatest of all time, I would love to have the chance to be boxing world champion, and I would love to have the chance to be a jiu-jitsu world champion. I’d love to have the chance to be the Divas world champion and just be the best of everything at one point.” Rousey said. “How that is possible to do, I’m going  to have to figure that one out. I think if anybody’s capable, I think that I am. I think it’s just a matter of prioritizing and timing and figuring out when I can do which, when. I’m figuring it out. I’d love to, but it’s a process.”

WWE Divas Champion Charlotte responded to Rousey’s comments on Twitter:

Ronda Rousey to star in Road House Reboot

Variety is reporting that UFC Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will star in the reboot of the classic action film from the 1980’s Road House that the late great Patrick Swayze made famous.
Released in 1989, the original film starred Swayze as a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest, loudest bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce. A gentleman with a degree in philosophy, Swayze’s character’s calm is put to the test when he needs to protect the town from a corrupt businessman.
Rousey embraced the idea of having the staring role but said she wanted to be respectful before perusing the project so she reached out to Swayze’s widow Lisa Neimi for her blessing which she gladly gave.
Sources say that MGM are currently talking to screenwriters and that production is likely to begin in 2016 with Rousey playing the roll Swayze did in the original. Previously having roles in The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and Entourage this project is sure to be Rousey’s biggest role up to date.

Huge co main event named for UFC193

What Dana White wants Dana Whie gets. When he sat down with New York Times late last month  he said he wanted Rousey and Jedrzejczyk both defending their titles on the same card. That card in question was suppose to be UFC195 but thanks to Lawler and Condit getting scraped Rousey and Holm were brought in as a replacement to headline the UFC193 card in Melbourne Australia.

A card that was already expected to break an all time attendance record just got all the more interesting. Today at the UFC Go big press conference in Vegas  it was announced that UFC Straweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be defending her title for the 2nd time against challenger Valerie Letourneau in the co main event.

Jedrzejczyk’s original opponent was suppose to be Claudia Gadelha but due to a thumb injury she sustained in her last fight she’s unable to compete. Both Letourneau and Jedrzejczyk are coming off wins in their last fight. Letourneau who is (8-3) is coming off a Unanimous decision win over Marya Maroz from this last month. As where Jedrzejczyk who is (10-0) is coming off a 3rd round TKO victory against Jessica Penne from June

With this fight added Austrailia looks to be in for a treat. UFC193 will be the first event in the company’s history to have two women’s titles defended on a card. UFC193 takes place November 14th, 2016 from Melboene Australia and live on PPV

Ronda Rousey in Carl’s JR Commercial

You may remember sometime last month we did a story on Ronda Rousey landing an endorsement deal with global fast food chain Carl’s Jr & Hardee’s

The newest commercial promoting the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast Sandwich features clips of the champ sparing in the ring, then clips of her eating the sandwich causing her to smile with glee. The tag line for the sandwich is “The knockout sandwich with a sweet side”

What makes the ad all the more awesome is that you have the voice of the octagon Bruce Buffer doing his infamous Ronda Rousey introduction.

Haven’t seen the commercial yet? Never fear because you can do so here:

Ronda Rousey Draws Big Numbers

Ronda Rousey’s last title defense against Bethe Corriea in Rio De Jenero at the beginning of this month lasted a grand total of 34secs

The match up was highly anticipated not only because Rousey would be defending the belt for the 6th time but the opponents also shared some bad blood. Corriea had two wins over Rousey’s closest friends Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler. Corriea also did her fair share of hyping the fight with her tasteless trash taking. Fans knew this bout would be interesting but the questioned remained, how would the numbers do???

Current estimates have the show doing a little more than 900,000 buys on pay-per-view, the largest number for a UFC show since UFC 168, on Dec. 28, 2013, the show headlined by the second Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva fight and the second Rousey vs. Miesha Tate fight.

It would give the company three shows so far this year that have topped 800,000 buys. The Dec. 12 show, with two title matches, Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor for the featherweight title, and Chris Weidman vs. Luke Rockhold for the middleweight title, barring a key injury, would figure to top that number as well

But the Rousey fight’s success at that level was hardly expected. While Correia did her part to hype the fight, and there were a number of storylines in place, UFC 190 had little in the way of what would be considered strong undercard support. The show was also held in Rio de Janeiro, and in the past, shows outside North America have not done big numbers on pay-per-view. When Anderson Silva was considered UFC’s top fighter, he twice headlined shows from Rio de Janeiro, and both did less than 350,000 buys.

Another key to  the company’s biggest modern pay-per-view draws is bringing in a unique fan base. Lesnar brought in the pro wrestling audience. St-Pierre was a mainstream Canadian sports superstar. Liddell was the company’s superstar fighter when it first appeared on national television. With Rousey, she brings in a female fan base as well as a casual fan audience that doesn’t even follow the sport on a regular basis.
There you have it folks not only is Rousey the most dominate female athletes but she puts asses in seats and brings in the money. Are you surprised?

One would have to wonder with Rousey and Holm not having the grudge factor will the UFC 195 card do as good as the UFC190 Card?? Only time will tell.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Claudia Gadelha targeted for UFC195

Is it possible that UFC195 could be the first UFC event in history to have 3 women fights on a PPV card? It sure does look that way. Yesterday the huge announcement was made that Ronda Rousey will be defending her title for the 7th time against decelerated Holly Holm.

Dana White had an interview with New York Times and he said that he’s aiming to have Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes on that same card. It doesn’t stop there though because White also said he looks to have Joanna Jedrzejczyk defend her straweight title against challenger Claudia Gadelha in the co main event. However this all depends if Gadelha’s injuries are healed by January.

Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha have met once before, during  last December in what many believe was a razor thin split decision victory for Jedrzejczyk. The rematch between the two has been inevitable for quite sometime.

The champ has a professional MMA record of (10-0) she is coming off a 3rd round TKO victory that she earned in June against top contender Jessica Penne. The challenger has a record of (13-1). She is coming off a UD win against Jessica Aguliar that she earned at UFC190 from this month. The one blemish in Gadelha’s record was of course delivered at the hands of Jedrzejczyk so you can bet she’ll be looking for some redemption.

It seems like we are now living in a day and age where women are dominating in sports, we have serina Williams in tennis, Hope solo in soccer, we have the divas revaluation in the WWE making waves in professional wrestling, and now we have both Ronda Rousey and Joanna Jedrzejczyk representing the UFC/ MMA world in thier respective divisions.

Everything is up in the air as it pertains to Jedrzejczyk vs Gadelha, but if this fight happens along with the possible Tate vs Nunes and the already set Rousey vs Holm UFC195 should be named ladies night.

How do you guys feel about a possible women’s dominated card? I for have faith that these 6 ladies have what it takes to put on a stellar show and bring the house down.

We here at WNB will be sure to keep all of you updated on the happenings of UFC195 as they continue to surface. UFC195 Is set to take place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas and will be live on PPV on January 2nd 2016
