Vince McMahon made his first WWE SmackDown appearance since 2013 on tonight’s show from Las Vegas and confronted Kevin Owens after the recent beef between Owens and suspended SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon.

Vince took shots at Owens for threatening a lawsuit and reinstated Shane, then announcing Shane vs. Owens for the October 8th WWE Hell In a Cell pay-per-view. That match will take place inside the Cell. Shane vs. Owens and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal are the only matches confirmed for the HIAC pay-per-view as of this writing.

The segment between Owens and Vince ended with Owens busting Vince open with a headbutt. Owens then kicked Vince in the ribs while he was down and finished the attack with a frog splash from the top rope. Owens left while Vince was helped to the back by referees, officials, medics and Stephanie McMahon.

WWE On Vince McMahon’s SmackDown Return

Vince McMahon will make his first WWE SmackDown appearance since 2013 on next Tuesday’s show in Las Vegas to address the situation between Kevin Owens and suspended SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon. WWE posted the following on Vince’s return to the blue brand:

Mr. McMahon comes to Sin City SmackDown to address the Shane McMahon-Kevin Owens situationThe animosity between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon has reached its boiling point, and only one person can perhaps put an end to it: Mr. McMahon!

The WWE Chairman and CEO will be at Sin City SmackDown next week to address the bad blood between his son and KO, which boiled over Tuesday night on SmackDown LIVE. After Shane attempted to stop Owens from again making himself referee for a match, KO crossed the line by insulting Shane’s family.

The insults sent Shane over the edge, as he immediately pummeled Owens, tackled him over the announce desk and continued to throw haymakers before finally being pulled off by officials and arena security. After Owens threatened to sue WWE and the entire McMahon family and press criminal charges against Shane, Mr. McMahon phoned SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan with a difficult decision that had to be made: The Chairman suspended Shane indefinitely as SmackDown LIVE Commissioner.

Though Daniel Bryan thought that would have ended the situation, it was not enough for Owens, who vowed to make Sin City SmackDown his personal playground and Bryan’s personal nightmare. KO said there was nothing Bryan could do about it, to which Bryan agreed, but quickly notified Owens of Mr. McMahon’s intentions for next week.

What does Mr. McMahon have in store for Owens? Tune in to Sin City SmackDown LIVE next Tuesday at 8/7 C on USA Network to find out!

Vince McMahon Reportedly Furious With Shinsuke Nakamura For Dropping John Cena On His Head

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard reports today that Vince McMahon was furious with Shinsuke Nakamura for dropping John Cena on his head and neck when he hit him with the Reverse Exploder near the end of their main event match on SmackDown LIVE last week.

Luckily for Cena, he did not suffer a serious injury. SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan announced on last night’s show that Cena will face Baron Corbin at SummerSlam on August 20.

According to Barrasso, McMahon’s anger was more in defense of Cena than an indictment of Nakamura since the WWE Chairman & CEO has not lost faith in him. However, if Nakamura makes another mistake like that again, McMahon will have an entirely different opinion of him.

McMahon might be the only one upset with Nakamura for the botched spot. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported last week that people backstage saw the error as a fluke. Cena himself did not seem upset about it either. Nakamura immediately apologized to Cena after the match, to which Cena replied, “Don’t be sorry.”

Vince McMahon Biopic In The Works

If you thought there was no chance in hell you’d ever see a Vince McMahon biopic, you were wrong — because TriStar pictures is working to lock it down.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie studio is in negotiations to buy a script on his life called Pandemonium and it would be directed by the team who make This Is Us on NBC.

The script reportedly hit the studios last summer but was turned down because McMahon and the WWE didn’t give their blessing, so no one wanted to make the company angry. THR claims the producer of American Sniper has now “secured McMahon’s life rights” though and studios quickly became interested in recent weeks.

Sources told the publication that TriStar wanted the project so badly they decorated their offices in WWE regalia for their pitch.

Vince McMahon On WWE Possibly Being Interested In Selling The Company

Vince McMahon was asked about a potential sale of WWE during today’s third quarter earnings call and said the company is open to anything but controlling their own destiny if very important.

Vince commented on being unsure of how much control they would lose if they were absorbed or bought but they are open to offers because they are business people. Vince said WWE is open to listening to offers, especially the kind of offer they couldn’t refuse, and are “open for business” but are also focused on doing their own thing and creating their content.

The same investor asked again if WWE would be interested if they received an offer that would allow them to still control their destiny and Vince replied:

“We’re open for business.”

Vince McMahon Returns:

Mr. McMahon gave his children, Shane and Stephanie, shared custody over Monday Night Raw, but ironically, it’s SmackDown Live that has caused friction between the two siblings. With both McMahons declaring their intentions to run SmackDown come Tuesday, July 19 (and fending off would-be usurpers ranging from Corporate Kane to John Laurinaitis) and the Brand Extension fast approaching, The Chairman is slated to return to Raw in the very same building where Shane himself made his comeback earlier this year. Could Mr. McMahon be on the verge of an executive decision? Or does he have a different COO in mind for SmackDown Live?
