Ronda Rousey memoir set to drop in May

20141209-140822.jpg

It was announced today by a Regan Arts publisher that a Ronda Rousey memoir titled “My fight/your fight” will drop in may of next year. The book will be co written by Ronda Rousey’s sister Maria Burns Ortiz who is a sports journalist for “fox sports Latino” and “ESPN”

My fight/Your fight will be the first official book written about women’s batemweight champion (preciously there was an unofficial biography called “Ronda Rousey” but that piece of work had tons of errors so it will be great to get an official piece of Literature.

This is huge news for Rousey because she just keeps adding to her bag of tricks. Not only is she a professional ass kicker and an up and coming actress but now shes a writer too! This is also very exciting news for Ronda Rousey fans. Are you one of those excited people today? I know forsure I am! Will you be picking up the book when it drops? Let us know in the comments

CM Punk interview with Ariel Hawani

20141207-105622.jpg

Last night after UFC 181 came to a close at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas NV MMA journalist Ariel Hawani interviewed the UFC’s newest signee Phil “CM Punk” Brooks. (You can watch the interview here) http://www.mmamania.com/2014/12/7/7347637/video-watch-cm-punk-reason-join-ufc-leave-wwe-interview-mma

One thing that I found interesting is that punk said after he was done with WWE he knew what he wanted to do next in fact he said the first time he brought it up to UFC owner Lorenzo Fereta was back at UFC 170 on February 22nd when Rousey fought Mcmann.

Punk says although he appreciates getting paid this isn’t about the money and its more about achieving a goal he’s always had and at the end of the day not living his life with regret. He also says he understands the doubt since he has an 0-0 record in the sport but he says he’s made a career of proving people wrong and at the end of it all he will have people’s respect.

Punk was asked about his age playing a factor (punk is currently 36) he says that he’s felt better then he’s ever felt and fighting into his 40’s isn’t out of the question because you can’t tell an athlete when to hang it up and he plans on making the UFC his home for the foreseeable feature.

So when will we see CM Punk in the octagon? Well according to the man himself he wants to at least train for 6 months before stepping into the cage so if my math is correct I wouldn’t be surprised if he made his debut durring international fight week in July.

Like punk said in the interview “wether you’ll tune in to see me get my ass kicked that’s ok, or because your curios that’s fine too or if you want to watch to root me on that’s even better but you will tune in”

Well said punk well said

Weather you are happy or not about the UFC’s newest signee there is no doubt that this is a HUGE business move. A lot of people will either tune in to see Punk dominate in the UFC or fail miserably. One thing is forsure though lots of eyes will be on his debut in 2015 and it’ll definitely bring lots of crossover fans. Hell I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to see how this is going to play out. Meanwhile people of both the wrestling and MMA world have been reacting on twitter. Here are a few notable tweets.

CM PUNK SIGNS WITH UFC

20141206-220409.jpg

NOPE you’re not dreaming you read the headline correctly. The self proclaimed “Best in the world” is trading in his wrestling boots for some UFC gloves. It was announced on air from the UFC181 ppv in Las Vegas with the help of UFC commentator Joe Rogan that none other then CM Punk has signed with the UFC.

It is being said that Punk will be making his octagon debut in 2015 as a fighter in the middleweight division. It should be noted the Punk does have extended training in BJJ and has friends in the organization. You can read more about this major announcement here http://m.ign.com/articles/2014/12/07/cm-punk-signs-with-ufc

How do you feel about this announcement. This wouldn’t be the first time a former WWE superstar has transition into the fight world. Do you think Punk will fit in? Do you think it’s a bad move?

Personally I think the move will gain a lot of crossover fans and if this is something punk wants I’m all for it. One question remains though. Will he be fighting under CM Punk or Phill Brooks?? Only time will tell

Leslie Smith Update

20141120-121549.jpg

Unless your not an MMA fan or you’ve been living under a rock for the last 5 days then you would know about the gruesome injury women’s battemweight fighter Leslie “The peacemaker Smith sustained at UFC180 at the hands of Jessica “Evil” Eye. I mean that’s all social media was talking about… But if your not let’s catch you up to speed shall we? Feel free to (click on the link to see the injury happen)

But there’s good news for Smith fans. With only 5 days removed from injury the “peacemakers” ear looks almost as good as new. So props to the doctors that stitched her back together. Further more props to Smith for wanting to continue the fight and even props to Eye for finding a target and working on it.

It’s always good news when you see fighters heal up just fine. I look forward to what’s next for both Leslie Smith and Jessica Eye

Why Rousey VS Zingano Was Moved To UFC 184

20140926-140113.jpg

UFC moved the Ronda Rousey VS Cat Zingano fight to UFC 184 on February 28, 2015 in Los Angeles at the Staple Center because of a back injury suffered by Zingano. The report was confirmed by “UFC Tonight” earlier this week. Rousey VS Zingano will square off in a battle of unbeatens at UFC 184 for the bantamweight title. The fight serves as the co-main event to Vitor Belfort challenging Chris Weidman for the middleweight title.

UFC 184 set to take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles

20141029-144924.jpg

Guys I think I’m on the verge of having a panic attack but in the best way possible. UFC184 is coming to my neck of the woods… (Well my future neck of the woods) Los Angeles California, on February 28th 2014. The excitement doesn’t stop there though because UFC president Dana White took to Instagram today to announce that on that card we will see UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defend her title against challenger Cat Zingano in the co main event. (That bout was originally scheduled for UFC 182 on January 3rd in Las Vegas) also on the card for UFC184 will be Chris Weidman defending his middle weight title against challenger Vitor Bellfort in the main event.

You can check out the video here http://instagram.com/p/uwCxy7vA3p/

This is a HUGE deal for me because I’ve seen 2/4 of the 4horsewomen fight live (marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler) and to be quite honest I always thought Rousey would be out of my reach since her fights tend to always be in vegas. I’ll be moving to LA in December so the timing is perfect.

I can assure you that if I do indeed attend UFC184 I’ll give you guys play by play exclusive coverage on our twitter account @vasquezsports

Is there anyone like me that’s super excited about this announcement? Let me know by sounding off in the comments.

Brock Lesnar Leveraging WWE Against UFC?

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract reportedly expires in April just right after WrestleMania 31. WWE has plenty of time to negotiate a new deal or plot a strong exit for Lesnar. It is being reported that Lesnar is already leveraging WWE against a possible UFC return. UFC President Dana White says he has a great relationship with Lesnar & they talk all the time so if he wants a fight Lesnar has got his number.
