Natalya Says Jason Momoa Wants Her To Star In “The Wrestler 2”

It sounds like the sequel to The Wrestler is in the works.

As seen below in the WWE Total Divas bonus clip from this week’s episode, Natalya revealed to the other cast members that actor Jason Momoa wants her to appear in an upcoming movie, The Wrestler 2.

Natalya noted that Momoa wants her to play his former lover in the movie. Momoa will presumably play the lead role of the featured pro wrestler, but none of this has been officially announced. Natalya also said Momoa wants her to wrestle a match in the movie, and she was asked which other wrestler she thinks she would do well with in the ring.

“Once I found out who Jason Momoa is, I’m like, ‘this is pretty cool.’ He’s a really big star. He’s an actor who has been on Game of Thrones, he was in that movie Aquaman. So, the fact that he is now interested in having me in the movie is huge,” Natalya told the Total Divas cameras.

The Wrestler 2 would be the sequel to the popular 2008 drama that starred Mickey Rourke as Randy “The Ram” Robinson. The movie was directed & produced by Darren Aronofsky, and also starred Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood. The film told the story of an aging Robinson, who continued to wrestle on the indies after mainstream success in the 1980s, while trying to find romance and repair his relationship with his daughter. The movie won several awards and made almost $50 million at the box office with a $6 million budget, according to film sites. Several wrestlers appeared in the movie and one of the matches with The Ram vs. Ernest “The Cat” Miller’s character took place at an ROH event, in an ROH ring. Wrestling stars who appeared in different scenes or as background extras in the movie included Miller, WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth, WWE announcer Nigel McGuinness, WWE NXT Superstar Robert Stone (Robbie E), Romeo Roselli, DJ Hyde, John Zandig, Necro Butcher, The Blue Meanie, Jay Lethal, Jim Powers, and several others. WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa’i and some of his trainers worked with Rourke to get him ready for the role.

The movie led to WWE promoting the film through a storyline that saw Chris Jericho go against several WWE Hall of Famers and Legends. After appearing at the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Rourke appeared at WrestleMania 25 for an angle that saw Jericho attack Ric Flair after his Handicap Match win over Ricky Steamboat, Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper. Jericho then challenged Rourke, and the angle ended with Rourke entering the ring to drop Jericho with a punch.

There’s been no other word on The Wrestler 2 being produced.

Lawler will likely only be used for a short period of time on Raw. Other people are reportedly being looked at for the spot on a full-time basis. This could explain why Mickie James was featured on commentary this week during Main Event, but we’ve been unable to verify this.

As we previously reported, Renee Young will now be hosting WWE Backstage Tuesday nights on FS1. Young is reportedly thrilled by the move since hosting is her passion and now she gets to do it on a giant platform every week. Lana And Rusev Have Been Dropped From Total Divas

Image result for Lana And Rusev Have Been Dropped From Total Divas

Lana and Rusev’s tenure on Total Divas is coming to an end, and Lana isn’t happy about it.

Lana — who joined Total Divas as a main cast member in the show’s sixth season — announced that the couple would no longer be involved with the E! reality series while being interviewed by Lillian Garcia on the most recent episode of Chasing Glory.

“Kevin Dunn told me that E! Executives took a poll and that we are strongly disliked by the demographic,” Lana told Garcia, after mentioning that she and Rusev had once been told they were going to get their own spin-off series. “They do not like us and that I’m hated, we’re hated, and that the E! Executives thought that our stories were very slapstick, and they were a strong no,” she added.

“I was shocked. I just sat there. It was like my tryout for WWE all over again. I’ve gone through a lot of different range of emotions. I’ll cry, but when I get hurt, I get really angry. That’s how I deal with hurt, I get really angry. Like, who is this new E! Executive?”

The clearly distraught superstar continued: “It’s just that I’m not liked and one part of me is like – and I said that – Mark Carrano and Kevin Dunn was there and I said, ‘Maybe, I’m just not a likable person.’ I know I’m a good person, but maybe I have a boring personality because I’m just not liked.”

The Ravishing Russian went on to say that the way the show was edited to make her look bad:

“There’s so many things in edit that I was royally screwed over,” she claimed, before acknowledging that she knew what she was signing up for. “I understand that when you sign up for reality TV, you have to be ready to be not perfect and I was OK with that.”

“I’ll make my own show. Once I get rejected from somewhere or whatnot, I’m moving on,” Rusev chimed in.

She’s baaack! The one and only Paige returns to Season 8. After a career-threatening injury, Paige is figuring out the next step in her career, but in the meantime, WWE may have something in store for her. On a personal front, Paige looks to The Bella Twins to help her move beyond her past mistakes and build back her confidence.

The season kicks off with the girls getting ready for WrestleMania Week in New Orleans. All eyes are on Nia as she continues to impress in the ring. With her much-anticipated Raw Women’s Championship Match forthcoming, Nia tries to up her game and enlists the help of a veteran Superstar to pick up some new moves.

With Nikki’s personal life front and center, she is learning to deal with a new kind of spotlight. Hoping to set the record straight between gossip column fodder and what she knows as the truth, Nikki holds her head high and puts her best foot forward at a time when changes are happening in her personal life. In addition to returning to the ring and being a full-time mom, Brie informs her sister, Nikki, that she wants to be president of their company, Birdiebee. Natalya begins to explore what her back-up plan would be after watching Paige re-evaluate her career. As she looks to her future, Natalya is also facing her family’s history of Alzheimer’s disease and is presented with an opportunity to get tested for the gene.

Naomi has long wanted to move out of Pensacola, Fla., and while on a girls’ trip to Atlanta, explores the idea of buying property with or without her husband, Jimmy Uso. When a symbol of their love and devotion goes missing, Naomi’s carelessness causes a rift between them that money can’t buy.

Lana’s husband, Rusev, has baby fever and hopes that Lana can take a cue from Brie and Bryan so they can start a family of their own. Meanwhile, Lana continues to push herself physically and mentally in the ring. And, after a lifetime of constant forgetfulness, Lana is finally ready to confront the issue head on.

Paige – Total Divas Update, More On Split With Alberto Del Rio, SmackDown Star Added To Total Divas

Paige will not be appearing on the upcoming season of Total Divas. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Carmella will be joining the cast, joining fellow newcomers Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax in replacing Paige, Renee Young and Eva Marie.

Paige has been on the cast of Total Divas since the third season, which premiered in September of 2014. Her last season on the series focused on her relationship with Alberto Del Rio, however that aspect was never pushed on WWE programming.

As we reported Paige and Del Rio broke up on Saturday night. Someone who saw the breakup said that Alberto reportedly said that “enough was enough” and that he reached his limit and knew that it was time to break up. Meltzer noted in the Observer that one of Del Rio’s close friends told him about the breakup, and that “it’s always possible they could get back together, but it did happen.” He added on Wrestling Observer Radio last night that while it could change, they were broken up as of Tuesday.

Paige has been out of action since suffering a neck injury in June of 2016. She was drafted to the RAW brand the following month but has yet to appear on the show. Since then she has had two Wellness violations. She has been training for a WWE return, and is expected to be back in action this summer.
