Once again, I’m writing about something that I’m really excited about. I’ve done many interviews in my online career (both inside and outside of the wrestling industry) but none any bigger than this coming Wednesday when I talk with “The Phenomenal One” AJ Styles.
I’ve interviewed movie stars, musicians, contestants of reality shows, politicians, war heroes, and professional wrestlers, so why am I excited at the AJ Styles interview?
Well the answer is two fold.
First, AJ Styles is a huge star in the wrestling business. Notice I said IS and not WAS. It’s very tough to get close to those who are still active in the business, especially those with major promotions. The Phenomenal One was just in a TNA Impact main event.
Now I know people might say, yeah but he is gone from TNA now, and my reply would be “so what”. He was just rubbing shoulders with Sting – in the month of January! If you know anything about the wrestling business, you know that AJ Styles would be a superstar in any major promotion in the world!
Secondly, AJ Styles is not afraid to share his Christian faith with others, and we will certainly not shy away from that.
Sure we will cover many topics, TNA, contract issues, Dixie Carter, WWE, and Ring of Honor among others, but I would like to hear, how being on the road as much as he has been, how can he keep true to his Christian faith, doing the right thing, and family values that are so important to him.
Genesis opened with Taz & Mike Tenay from their announce table. Tenay announced that the show is dedicated to the memory of Mae Young (1923-2014).
Rockstar Spud in the ring, he introduced TNA President Dixie Carter. Dixie talked about last week everyone got to see what it’s like to cross the boss. Dixie said she is ready to play if somebody is game. Dixie talked about AJ Styles being gone. Dixie talked up Magnus & introduced him out to the ring. Magnus came to the ring with both Title belts. Magnus said it’s out with the old & in with the new, he is calling it the Reign of Magnus. He said wearing 2 belts is obnoxious & gave one of the belts to Dixie because she is a champion to everyone. Dixie said she is almost a loss for words. Dixie brought out some people who needed to be thanked for their loyalty last week. The BroMans, DJ Zemma Ion, Bobby Roode, Bad Influence, Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa all came to the ring. She said they went above & beyond the call of duty, she said what Roode did at the end of the match was pure art. Dixie thanked them & said they will benefit in their paycheck. Dixie said tonight is a Genesis of a new TNA, a Dixie Carter TNA. She said they need to stand tall together united as one. Dixie said her nephew is going to have to take down Sting tonight. Dixie introduced Ethan Carter III to the ring. EC3 came out & started to speak when the lights went out & Sting’s music hit. Sting was up in the crowd with a spotlight on him, he pointed his bat toward the ring. Show went to break.
Back fro break, Sting said is this really the future. Sting said there is a bunch of men & woman in the back that couldn’t be bought. Sting said he didn’t know Dixie could stoop so low & that she stepped way over the line messing with wrestlers family like she did with Kurt Angle. Sting called Magnus a paper champion & said Magnus hasn’t earned anything in this business. Sting said this is not a house united it’s a house divided & a house divided can’t stand. Sting said we are going to fight tonight. Dixie asked who we was because all she sees is him. Sting said take a look around. Samoa Joe, Joseph Park, Eric Young, ODB, James Storm & Gunner came out. Sting said tonight we take back what is ours. They rushed to the ring & a brawl broke out. Sting had EC3 alone in the ring & backed him into a corner & hit him in the gut with his bat.. The show went to break.
Back from break, Samoa Joe & the others was in the ring. Joe said they aren’t leaving until they get a fight. Rockstar Spud made a 12 person tag match & said it starts now & they started fighting.
12 Person Tag Match: Samoa Joe, James Storm, Gunner, Joseph Park, Eric Young & ODB VS The BroMans, Bad Influence, DJ Zemma Ion & Lei’D Tapa: Park got busted open & turned into Abyss & started taking people down. Gunner & Storm got in the ring & Park/Abyss nailed them with a double clothesline. Joe mad Daniels tap-out with a choke. Joe, Storm, Gunner, Park/Abyss, EY & ODB won by submission.
Velvet Sky was in the back talking to Austin Aries. Aries left & Chris Sabin came up & questioned Velvet why she was talking to Aries. Sabin said they are going to the ring to talk about it.
Kurt Angle was in the back looking for Dixie & Al Snow.
Chris Sabin & Velvet Sky in the ring. Sabin said Velvet is being selfish, he said he won the X-Division Title for them. Sabin asked her to explain why she was talking to Austin Aries. Aries came out & called Sabin the worst boyfriend to ever lived. Aries said Sabin doesn’t need to worry about him stealing his girlfriend. Aries said he was telling Velvet that she doesn’t need to put up with his crap. Aries said Velvet is a extremely hot woman. Sabin said she is his & she does what he tells her to do. Aries said she isn’t a pawn & she needs to be who she is a extremely hot piece of….Sabin cut him off & said Velvet is his piece & said to Velvet ain’t that right toots & slapped he on the butt. Aries challenged Sabin to a X-Division Title match & have Velvet out of the equation. Aries said Velvet will be in a cage at ringside. Sabin said that is never going to happen. Velvet grabbed the mic away from Sabin & said she will do it. She said she is sick of this mess, she wants a man who will stand up for her not blame her. Velvet said in this match Sabin wont be able to force her to do his dirty work.. Velvet said if Sabin doesn’t beat Aries she might have to find another man to spend her time with.
Angle in the back still looking for Dixie.
Some guy is in the back saying something to a cameraman. He sees Samuel Shaw & compliments him on his match last week. He tells Shaw he needs to not worry about Christy Hemme & worry about his opponent. Shaw attacked & beat him up.
EC3 in the back talking to himself in the mirror. Magnus came in & said he sees a rookie who doubts himself. Magnus said EC3 might be like him one day, rising up become champion on his own. EC3 said he isn’t facing AJ Styles he is facing “The Icon” Sting. Magnus told EC3 to not worry about him & to worry about not letting the family down. Magnus said he held up his end & he would hate to see what happens if EC3 falls short.
No DQ Match: Bully Ray VS Mr. Anderson: Anderson jumped Bully from behind on his way to the ring. The match went back & forth beating each other up. They hit each other with chairs Anderson put Bully through a table. Bully pulled out a bottle of lighter fluid. Anderson hit Bully with a Mic Check. Anderson picked up the lighter fluid & sprayed it on a table. Anderson was going to set it on fire but Bully hit Anderson with a low blow & nailed him with a piledriver. Bully got the win.
Angle found Al Snow in the back, Angle shoved Snow up against a wall & asked him about last week & who made him do it. Snow said he has a family to feed. Angle decked Snow with a punch to the jaw & left.
Kurt Angle came to the ring. Angle said Dixie went to far last week involving his family & called Dixie out to the ring. Dixie said things are changing it’s not 7 years ago. Angle said she isn’t the Dixie Carter he knew anymore. Angle question her about her faking the emergency about his family to get him out of the building last week. Dixie said she did it to protect him form himself. Angle said Dixie is twisted & out of her mind for taking out half the locker room just to screw AJ Styles. Angle asked her why she did that to him. Dixie said Angle would have made the wrong choice & would have gotten injured & wouldn’t have been able to make her any money. Dixie said Angle isn’t smart enough to make the decision, she doesn’t wont him to be like AJ & Jeff Hardy. Dixie said it was best for him just like everything she does is best for her team. Angle said he isn’t on her team 7 is going to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Angle said after he kicks Bobby Roode’s *ss he is going to be out there to support Sting. Dixie said she is postponing his cage match until next week. Dixie said there will be consequences for him & whoever gets involved in her nephews match, consequences that might cost a job. Angle said this is bigger than his job & told her to fire him if she wants because he is going to do what is right. Dixie called for security to remove Angle from the building for his own protection. Angle argued with Dixie & security. Bobby Roode came down & hit Angle from behind. Dixie told Security to leave Roode alone. Roode laid out Angle with a Roode Bomb. Dixie told security to escort Angle out of the building.
Jeremy Borash in the back with Madison Rayne. Lei’D Tapa came in. Madison asked if she is suppose to be afraid of her. Gail Kim attacked Madison from behind & said Madison is suppose to be afraid of her. Tapa held Madison as Gail talked trash & kicked her. Tapa & Gail tossed Madison to the floor.
Dixie talked to ref Earl Hebner in the back, she told him he isn’t doing the main event. He asked who is, she said so for him to take the night off & he will find out like everyone else.
Knockouts Championship Match: Madison Rayne VS Knockouts Champion Gail Kim: Lei’D Tapa got involved in the match & the ref sent Tapa to the back. Madison got the win to become the new Knockouts Champion.
JB in the back with Sting. Sting said he knows there are a lot of men in the back who want to come to his aid tonight, but it’s not about that, nobody is going to suffer any more consequences tonight, it’s all about him getting his hands on EC3 tonight.
Dixie in the back talking to the American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards), she said that she is excited for their tryout match next week & if they impress her they could talk about a contract. They told her they already signed a TNA contract this morning. She was confused. they said that “They” said she would act like this. They handed her an envelope & said it would clear things up & they left. Dixie opened the envelope & read something about a new TNA investor. Dixie made a phone call.
Ethan Carter III VS Sting: Special Guest Referee Rockstar Spud: Sting had EC3 in the Scorpion Death Lock, Spud climbed onto Stings back. Sting spun him off. Sting nailed EC3 with the Scorpion Death Drop. Spud refused to count the pinfall. Sting grabbed Spuds hand & forced him to count. Magnus pulled Spud out of the ring. Magnus took off his jacket & shirt to reveal a ref shirt. EC3 rolled up a distracted Sting & Magnus made a quick 3 count. EC3 got the win. After the match, Sting said he would do anything to fight Magnus.
Back from the break, Sting said Magnus disgraced AJ, Hardy, the World Title belt, the fans & the wrestling business. Sting said Magnus is a cancer that needs to be cut out. Sting asked for one more shot at the Title. Magnus said Sting lost last year at Slammiversary & gave up his right to ever compete for the World Title again. Magnus said he owes Sting nothing. Sting said Magnus owes himself & asked if he wants to earn the World Title. Sting said a champion is a man & boys wear belts. Sting asked Magnus if he is going to be a man or a little boy. Magnus stepped in the ring & said he isn’t going to fall for that. Magnus brought up that Dixie is considering extending Sting’s contract. Magnus proposed that Sting put his contract up for a shot at the World title. Sting said lets gamble & accepted the match. Magnus said he can’t wait to tear up Sting’s contract, career, life & legacy.
TNA President Dixie Carter came to the ring with a contract. Dixie called out AJ Styles to sign the contract. AJ came down to the ring. Dixie said the contract is for one match only tonight against Magnus. Dixie made the match a No DQ. Dixie said she won’t rest until she never has to look at AJ’s face again. Dixie wants AJ to be bloodied, bruised & carried out on a stretcher. AJ said it’s winner takes all, which means when he beats Magnus he will be the Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. AJ said there are boys in the back who hate Dixie as much as him & will watch his back. Dixie said they won’t help AJ because she owns them & she made AJ & will break him. AJ said if Dixie is going to break him like she did Jeff Hardy. AJ said Dixie doesn’t get wrestling & she keeps screwing it up. AJ said the belt has gotten more respect when he took it away from this company. AJ called Magnus a paper champion. Magnus came down & told Dixie to leave. Dixie left the ring. Magnus said this is the last time AJ will call him a paper champion & that AJ’s time is over. Magnus said he will end AJ tonight & he will be left standing as the one true champion. Magnus left the ring. AJ signed the contract. AJ said he didn’t take short cuts like Magnus. AJ said he will walk out tonight with honor, respect, dignity as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. AJ told Magnus to ask Dixie what she is going to do then. AJ told Magnus to take his lips off her *ss to ask her.
Dixie in the back talking to Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa. Dixie asked Gail if she understands the importance of this & asked if Lei’D has this. Dixie told Gail to make sure Lei’D does. Dixie walked away. Gail asked Lei’D if she understands what she has to do. Lei’D nodded her head.
Dixie in the back talking to The BroMans. She said she is counting on them.
Joseph Park & Eric Young VS The BroMans: DJ Zema Ion introduced The BroMans to the ring. Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa attacked ODB in the back. EY took off to the back. The BroMans got the win. After the match The BroMans took a section of the guardrail & placed it in the ring. The BroMans hit their Finisher The Bro Down on Park onto the guardrail.
Samoa Joe talked to Dixie in the back. Joe said he hopes Dixie understands what AJ Styles means by having friends to watch his back. Dixie asked if Joe was threatening her. Joe said if she plans on screwing AJ she will have to go through him. Dixie said she made Joe & can break him. Dixie put Joe in a match against her nephew Ethan Carter III & told Joe he needs to focus on getting out of it in one piece. Joe said EC3’s blood is on Dixie’s hands.
Eric Young was carrying ODB out of the building. Sting was at the door. EY told Sting he was taking her to the hospital.
James Storm came to the ring & called out Gunner. Gunner came down. Storm talked about being apart of some great tag teams. Storm said he has a big ego. Storm said the World Title tears apart tag teams & Gunner is letting it happen with the Feast or Fired case. Gunner sais he seized an opportunity. Gunner mention that Storm Last Call superkicked him last week because he was upset Kurt Angle chose him as his partner. Gunner told Storm to keep his ego because he has the case. Storm challenged Gunner to one more match next week at Genesis for the case. Storm said they will put the case up above & he doesn’t think Gunner can do it again. Gunner accepted the match with a handshake.
EC3 attacked Samoa Joe in the back.
Back from the break, Samoa Joe & EC3 are fighting on the stage & down to the ring.
Samoa Joe VS Ethan Carter III: Rockstar Spud came down & interfered. EC3 hit Joe in the knee with a wrench. Match was ruled a no contest.
Jeremy Borash in the back with Kurt Angle. Angle talked about his Steel Cage open challenge to get ready for Bobby Roode. Angle said no matter who gets in the cage with him all he is going to see is Roode.
Samoa Joe in the back. A doctor is looking at his knee. The doctor wants to take Joe to get his knee x-rayed. Joe doesn’t want to go but the doctor insist.
Sting found James Storm & Gunner laid out in the back. EMT were checking on them. There was broken glass bottles on the ground. Sting blames Dixie.
Sting confronted Dixie about all of the hits on AJ’s friends. Dixie said wrestling is a very dangerous sport & it’s a business. Sting accused Dixie of taking things to far. Sting said it’s not to late & Dixie could stop this. Dixie said she will stop this when AJ is carted out of here. Sting asked Dixie what happened to her. Dixie said she is the boss & told Sting to focus on his match. Sting said putting him in a match wont stop him from doing what he needs to do. Dixie said she has had enough of Sting & told him to get out of here & out of her face. Dixie stormed off.
Kurt Angle’s Steel Cage Open Challenge: Angle inside the cage. Bobby Roode came out & talked about facing Angle next week at Genesis in the cage. Roode asked Angle if he wants him in the cage tonight. Roode said that would be stupid & Angle will have to wait. Roode said he found 2 guys who hate Angle as much as he does. Roode introduced Daniels & Kazarian.
2-on-1 Steel Cage Match: Kurt Angle VS Bad Influence: Angle got the win.
Dixie on the phone in the back, she said to leave the cage up. Roode came in & Dixie asked if he was ready for his cage match. Dixie said Roode will face Sting in the cage. Roode was upset about it. Dixie said she needs him tonight to be a team player. Dixie wants Roode to go out there & take care of business. Dixie said she will take care of him, she has got him covered. Dixie said she needs him to focus, it’s very important.
Kurt Angle out back posing for a photo with some fans. Al Snow pulls up in a car & told Angle he has to take him to the airport because of an emergency.
Steel Cage Match: Bobby Roode VS Sting: Sting had Roode in the Scorpion Death Lock. Rockstar Spud & EC3 came down. Spud tossed a steel baton into Roode. Roode hit Sting with the baton. Roode escaped the cage through the door. Roode got the win.
Footage from earlier in the day of Mr. Anderson. He said Bully Ray wants to lay this to rest he is more than happy to oblige. Anderson walked into a funeral home.
Anderson inside the funeral home. Bully Ray was sitting in a pew in the back. Anderson said lets finish this. Bully said pulls out a lighter & lights it & said if he wanted to finish it he would have last week, it would be to forgiving of him. Bully threated Anderson if he came any closer. Bully said Anderson took everything from him & doesn’t think Anderson can fathom how much damage he done to him. Bully wants his loneliness to encompass Anderson’s life. Bully mentioned next week is Genesis & that Genesis is the beginning but for Anderson it’s going to be the end. Bully said Anderson rapped the colors off of his back & put them in a coffin. Bully told Anderson to look at what he put in the coffin for him. Anderson took something out of the coffin & turned around. Bully was gone. Anderson was holding a couple of baby blankets.
Dixie in her office. Sting came in & said that wont stop him, nothing will stop him from being by AJ’s side. Dixie mentions that it’s time to renew Sting’s contract. Sting said her money can’t buy him & that she disgust him. Dixie said he doesn’t feel that way & she asked Sting if the shoe was on the other foot, would AJ give it all up for him. Dixie said Sting has a very important decision to make & said for him to please make the right one.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship No DQ Match: Champion VS Champion: Winner Takes All: AJ Styles VS Magnus: EC3 & Rockstar Spud attacked AJ. Sting came down to help AJ. The BroMans & DJ Zema Ion attacked Sting & AJ. Referee Earl Hebner was reluctant to make the pin count. Bad Influence attacked AJ. Hebner refused to make the 3 count on AJ. Hebner walked out on the match. Dixie brought down Earl Hebner’s son Brian to take his place. Sting continued to help AJ. AJ locked in the Calf Killer on Magnus. Kazarian decked ref Brian Hebner from behind just when Magnus was about to tap out. AJ hit the Styles Clash on Magnus but there was no ref. Earl Hebner came back down to make the count. Bad Influence pulled Earl Hebner out of the ring to stop the count.. Roode came out & attacked AJ. Roode laid AJ out. Dixie brought out another ref. Magnus got the win. After the match Dixie celebrated with Magnus standing over AJ.

TNA Tag Team Champions The BroMans will take on Joseph Park & Eric Young. Tag Title implications are at stake. Can Park & EY win & become #1 contenders for the tag belts?

Some in TNA are worried about the potential of WWE moving to Spike TV & other Viacom networks if they don’t lock in a new deal with Comcast. The feeling is the sooner TNA locks a new deal with Spike TV the better off they will be, because TNA pretty much depends on their TV deal to keep things going. TNA’s current deal with Spike TV runs through this fall.
Kurt Angle came to the ring. Angle said 2013 was the worst year of his career. Angle said he was here to explain his plans for 2014. Bobby Roode interrupted. Roode thinks Angle is going to walk away like Jeff Hardy did last week. Roode said Angle finally realized he doesn’t have what it takes to beat him & wants Angle to tell him to his face that he is better. Angle said he isn’t leaving & he is going to kick *ss in 2014. Angle challenged Roode to one more match. Roode said no, he has nothing to prove, him & Angle are done, unless Angle agrees to never enter the Hall of Fame if Angle loses. Angle said the match will be at Genesis in a steel cage. Roode accepted & hit Angle. Refs & security came out & pulled them apart. Rockstar Spud came out also & got shoved to the mat by Angle. Spud made a tag match for Angle & Roode later tonight, they each have to find a partner.
Dixie Carter was in the back doing a promo for Magnus’s coronation. Dixie got a letter that said “see you tonight.” Dixie was mad & stormed out.
Dixie Carter talked to Rockstar Spud in the back, she wants him to find out where, or who the letter came from.
Gail Kim with Lei’ D Tapa in the ring for her Open Challenge. Gail said she dominated in 2103 & hopes for more competition in 2014. Madison Rayne came out to accept the open challenge.
Gail Kim VS Madison Rayne: Madison got the win.
Velvet Sky & Chris Sabin in the back. Sabin wants Velvet to do what he says so he will win the X-Division title. He tells her is she doesn’t & he loses he will leave without her.
Kurt Angle in the back, he asked Gunner to be his partner & Gunner accepted. James Storm overheard & walked in & said that is interesting.
X-Division Championship Match: Chris Sabin VS X-Division Champion Austin Aries: Velvet Sky at ringside with Sabin. Sabin ordered Velvet to help him. Velvet climbed on the apron & distracted the ref & Aries. Sabin hit Aries with a low blow & rolled him up for the win. Sabin is the new X-Division Champion. After the match Jeremy Borash interviewed Sabin. Sabin thanked himself & said he couldn’t have done it without himself. Sabin gave no credit to Velvet.
Rockstar in the back, he got a phone call but they hung up.
Samuel Shaw VS Norv Fernum: Shaw sent Christy Hemme out of the ring before she introduced his opponent Norv Fernum. Shaw got the win with a type of choke hold.
James Storm was in the back talking about Gunner. Storm said he is going to show Angle that he made a mistake choosing Gunner as his partner. Storm opened a door & said that’s who he is looking for.
Bobby Roode in the back talking to James Storm. Storm wants to be Roode’s partner. Roode said he has a couple of people in mind to be his partner. Roode tols Storm that he doesn’t need him. Storm said he is going to be out there one way or another, either as Roode’s partner or kicking everyone’s *ss including Roode’s.
Kurt Angle & Gunner VS Bobby Roode & James Storm: Roode & Storm got the win. After the match, Angle hit Roode from behind & went for an Angle Slam but Roode slipped out & headed to the back.
Sting was in the back, Spud questioned him about the letter. Sting told Spud to get out od his face, he is here to talk to Dixie.
Ethan Carter III came to the ring & he talked about beating Sting & Jeff Hardy last week. He mention Hardy leaving & he challenged Hardy to a match & had Christy Hemme introduce Hardy. Hardy music played & there was no Hardy. EC3 said to ring the bell & he started counting Hardy out. Sting interrupted & came down to the ring. Sting said Hardy is a man & that he doesn’t know what EC3 is. Sting called EC3 a little puppy dog, Dixie’s lapdog. Sting told EC3 to get off the leash & prove he is a man. EC3 said he isn’t going to let Sting manipulate him & left the ring. Sting called EC3 a lapdog. EC3 said he will fight Sting one on one in 2 weeks at Genesis.
Joseph Park & Eric Young in the back. Park said he doesn’t remember last week & he isn’t Abyss. Park question why EY has put him in a match with Bully Ray. EY said Abyss wrestled Bully years ago & tonight he is going to win. EY said Park is going to have to do it own his own & left. Bully walked in & told Park that it is not in his best interest to come to the ring & burn for the sins of Ken Anderson. Bully said he is going to set Park on fire.
Bully Ray VS Joseph Park: Bully hit Park with a low blow kick. Park wins by DQ. After the match Bully sprayed Park with lighter fluid & was going to set him on fire. Mr. Anderson came down & Bully sprayed Anderson with lighter fluid & threated to light him on fire. Bully left to the back.
Rockstar Spud & EC3 in the ring for the coronation of Magnus. Spud said tonight history will be made. Spud said Dixieland is a place where dreams come true. Spud turned things over to EC3. EC3 bragged about beating Sting last week. EC3 said “I’m a Carter & the world needs us.” EC3 talked about Magnus being the World Champion. EC3 introduced Dixie Carter to the ring. Dixie told a story about seeing a article about Magnus & how it took her breath away. She said Magnus become Champion all on his own. Dixie introduced Magnus. Magnus thanked Dixie, he said she is the wind beneath his wings. Magnus mentioned that people doubted him becoming World Champion. Magnus said the fans turned their backs on him. He said he plans on being Champion for a long time. Gunner interrupted & came out with his Feast or Fired briefcase.
Gunner wants to cash in the case & fight Magnus for the Title. Dixie said to not ring the bell. Gunner tosses EC3 & Spud in the corner & goes after Magnus. EC3 & Spud came back & they all beat Gunner down. AJ Styles came in the ring & cleared out EC3 & Spud. AJ & Magnus stare at each other each with their TNA World Title belts. Dixie told AJ to get out of the ring. Magnus left the ring. AJ said if Dixie wants her Title belt it is right here. AJ told Dixie to stop her lawyers from chasing him all over. AJ said he just inn’t going to hand over the Title. AJ said Dixie screwed the people over by making her Champion a farce. AJ said Magnus isn’t Champion until he beats him. Magnus asked if AJ was challenging him. AJ said there can only be one Champion. AJ said Magnus will doubt himself if he doesn’t accept. Magnus said AJ isn’t better than him & he will prove next week, for the World Championship. Dixie said that isn’t happening. Magnus said if it doesn’t then he will leave too. Dixie said AJ doesn’t have a contract. Magnus told Dixie to give AJ a one night only contract. Dixie said if Magnus loses she will have nothing. Magnus said id he doesn’t fight she will have nothing anyway. Magnus & AJ agreed to the match for next week. Dixie stormed off.
