Ace Austin Departs TNA Wrestling After Six-Year Run

Another pillar of TNA Wrestling’s modern era is moving on. Former TNA World Tag Team Champion and three-time X-Division Champion Ace Austin has officially parted ways with the company, as confirmed by PWInsider and later acknowledged by former TNA President Scott D’Amore.

Austin’s contract reportedly expired recently, and although both sides engaged in talks to hash out a new deal, they ultimately couldn’t come to terms. D’Amore addressed Austin’s exit in his latest column, framing the split as respectful and forward-looking. According to D’Amore, Austin is “ready to step to the next level” and it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a breakout star on a bigger stage.

TNA Finale

Austin’s final match for the promotion aired last week, where he faced off against current X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali. While the match itself was taped weeks prior, it now serves as the official conclusion to Austin’s six-year journey with TNA—a run that saw him evolve from an electric up-and-comer to a core figure in the company’s tag and singles divisions.

After re-upping with TNA just last March, Austin remained a focal point of weekly programming, especially alongside Chris Bey. Together, the duo formed a standout tag team, winning the TNA World Tag Team Titles three times and even representing TNA internationally.

However, Bey’s recent injury forced Austin back into singles action, where he tried his luck chasing the X-Division Championship and the newly minted International Title. Despite solid showings, championship gold eluded him during this stretch.

A Growing Trend in TNA

Austin’s departure is the latest in a growing list of talent exits from TNA in 2024. Jordynne Grace and Josh Alexander both left earlier this year when their contracts lapsed, and Rich Swann also quietly became a free agent after his deal expired.

With multiple prominent names stepping away, questions naturally arise about TNA’s ability to retain and build around its top-tier talent. That said, the promotion has long been known for cultivating fresh faces and rebuilding from within—something it may be forced to lean into once again.

What’s Next for Ace Austin?

As for Austin, the future appears wide open. At just 27 years old, he’s already built a strong resume with highlight-reel matches, a compelling character, and success in both singles and tag team competition. Whether he heads to WWE, AEW, NJPW, or explores international options, it’s clear he won’t be on the market for long.

Keep it locked to WrestlingNewsBlog.com for updates on where Ace Austin lands next and what this latest departure means for the future of TNA Wrestling.

TNA President Carlos Silva Clarifies Recent Report, Says There Is No Ban On Bleeding

There’s been some confusion swirling around TNA Wrestling this week, but President Carlos Silva has stepped in to clear the air regarding reports of a supposed ban on blading and intentional blood during matches.

Speaking with The Takedown on SI, Silva stated point blank that intentional bleeding is not banned in TNA. Instead, the promotion is simply encouraging talent to be more selective and strategic when it comes to using blood in matches. The clarification comes after the company featured two violent bouts in a short span, including a brutal dog collar match between Steve Maclin and Eric Young on TNA Impact! — a match that clearly pushed the limits of the show’s current tone.

The initial report about a potential blading ban originated from PWInsider, which claimed that talent had been informed that the practice was no longer allowed outside of very specific situations. According to that report, the move was tied to efforts to keep Impact! more advertiser-friendly as TNA and parent company Anthem continue their search for a new television partner in the U.S.

Silva did confirm to The Takedown that the company is indeed being mindful of how it’s perceived by potential advertisers and media partners. He also backed up reports that Anthem is actively shopping TNA for a new media rights deal, making presentation a key priority. But he made it clear: the red isn’t going away entirely—it’s just being reined in.

Fans should expect to see less blood on weekly TV, but Silva emphasized that this is about moderation, not elimination. There was no direct mention of TNA’s ongoing partnership with WWE, which is famously anti-blading, but Silva’s comments suggest that TNA isn’t looking to fully mirror WWE’s PG philosophy.

Meanwhile, Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer had speculated that the move might be a nod toward WWE-style presentation, but Silva’s statements seem to put that theory to rest. TNA appears to be walking a fine line—staying true to its edgier roots while positioning itself for a more mainstream platform.

Bottom line: blood isn’t banned in TNA, but it’s not going to be used as freely as it once was. It’s not about going soft—it’s about playing smart as the company looks to level up its TV presence.

Hendry’s worldwide fame has spanned from random mentions on TV news broadcasts to part of a Savannah Bananas baseball game, and everything in between. He was the surprise opponent for Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 in April.

Ryan also is an accomplished writer, actor and comedian.
  • MOOSE
  • Moose is the reigning and defending TNA X Division Champion, in his first-ever title reign with the prestigious TNA championship. His current run has already surpassed 200-days. Moose also is a former two-time TNA World Champion – and his combined 371-days as that titleholder is fourth-most in TNA history.
  • Quinn Ojinnaka, the real-life Moose, played for four teams over seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL), including the New England Patriots, before transitioning to pro wrestling. He made his wrestling debut in 2012. His NFL career included time as teammates with legendary quarterback Tom Brady while playing for one of the best NFL head coaches in history, Bill Belichick.
  • An offensive lineman, Ojinnaka played 62 NFL games after playing at Syracuse University and was selected in the fifth-round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. Moose and Bill Goldberg are the only former NFL players from the modern era to have gone from the NFL to become the World Champion of a pro wrestling company. In fact, there are only four others in addition to Moose & Goldberg to have ever gone from the NFL to World Championship glory in pro wrestling, including Bronko Nagurski, who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The others are Ernie Ladd, Dick the Bruiser and Gus Sonnenberg.

Joe Hendry Confirms TNA Contract Set to Expire in Late 2025: “I’m in My Contract Year Right Now”

TNA Wrestling standout Joe Hendry has shed some light on his contract status—and it turns out he may be hitting the open market sooner than previously thought.

While earlier reports suggested Hendry was locked into a deal with TNA through late 2025, the Scottish star has now clarified that his current contract is actually set to expire this year. Hendry made the revelation during a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where he discussed his current mindset heading into what he calls his “contract year.”

“Who knows what’s going to happen next?” Hendry said. “I’m in my contract year right now — it’s a very exciting time. I’m doing my best to deliver strong performances, give everything I can to the audience, and enjoy the ride.”

This development adds an intriguing wrinkle to Hendry’s future. Known for his unique blend of charisma, musical flair, and in-ring skill, Hendry has become a fan favorite in TNA. With his deal now confirmed to be expiring in 2024, speculation is sure to ramp up about whether he’ll re-sign with the promotion or explore opportunities elsewhere—including a possible jump to WWE or AEW. I would say it’s most likely he will sign with WWE, who is real high on him.

For now, Hendry seems focused on the present, continuing to connect with fans and build momentum during what could be a career-defining stretch. Wherever he ends up next, it’s clear that Joe Hendry plans to make the most of every moment.

Stay tuned to WrestlingNewsBlog.com for updates on Hendry’s contract status and all the latest in the world of TNA.

AAA Announces TripleMania Regia, Featuring JBL, WWE and TNA Talent — Just Days Before AEW’s Mexico Debut

Mexican promotion AAA is ramping up its presence on the wrestling calendar in a major way. During a press conference this week, the legendary Mexican promotion announced TripleMania Regia, set for June 15, 2025, at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. The event is shaping up to be a massive showcase — not just for AAA’s homegrown talent, but also for stars from TNA Wrestling and WWE.

This will mark the first major event held under AAA’s new ownership umbrella, as WWE continues to finalize its acquisition of the lucha libre promotion. Thanks to that developing relationship, several WWE names are already confirmed for the card. Tag team duo Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza — both of whom have history in AAA — are officially set to appear, alongside AAA stalwarts like Alberto El Patrón, Psycho Clown, and Hijo del Vikingo. WWE Hall of Famer JBL is also advertised to appear, having made prior guest appearances with the promotion.

Though no matches have been announced yet, the inclusion of talent from TNA (via their ongoing partnership with WWE) adds another layer of intrigue to the event. With the newly revived Worlds Collide set to take place just one week earlier on June 7 at the Kia Forum in California, TripleMania Regia could serve as a follow-up celebration of cross-promotional wrestling with deep international flavor.

But not everyone is thrilled with the timing.

The June 15 date has stirred controversy, as it lands just three days before AEW is scheduled to host its first-ever television event in Mexico, AEW Grand Slam Mexico, on June 18 at Arena Mexico. The overlap hasn’t gone unnoticed, with AEW’s Tony Schiavone taking a jab at the timing, implying AAA and WWE’s announcement may have been a strategic counter.

Meanwhile, WWE is leaning into lucha tradition as it looks to bolster its foothold in the Latin American market. Rey Mysterio — a WWE Hall of Famer and a longtime fixture in AAA — recently appeared in promotional material for Worlds Collide, highlighting lucha libre’s cultural legacy and its influence on global wrestling.

With TripleMania Regia now positioned as a tentpole event for both AAA and WWE’s partnership, all eyes will be on how the card shapes up — and how AEW responds in its bid to gain traction in Mexico.

TNA Wrestling Appoints Two New Vice Presidents Amid Major Executive Shake-Up

TNA Wrestling continues to reshape its corporate structure, with the latest move seeing two longtime employees elevated to vice presidential roles. According to PWInsider, Eric Tompkins and Ross Forman have officially been named Vice Presidents, with the news reportedly shared with talent during a recent locker room meeting.

Tompkins, who has served as TNA’s Director of TV Production, and Forman, the company’s longtime Head of Media Relations, both bring decades of experience to their new positions. Forman in particular has been with TNA for over 20 years, making him one of the most tenured members of the promotion’s inner circle.

Their promotions come amid a larger executive overhaul that’s been underway for more than a year. Just this February, Carlos Silva was named TNA President following his previous appointment as President of Anthem Sports, TNA’s parent company, late last year. Silva replaced Anthony Cicione, who was among a group of high-level departures in recent months.

Other notable exits include Ariel Shnerer, Karen Clevett, Sebastian Dastrani, and Chief Revenue Officer Rob Klingman, all of whom left the company as part of what has been described as an ongoing restructuring effort. On the wrestling side, former in-ring talent turned producers and backstage figures—Gail Kim, Christy Hemme, and Josh Matthews—were also let go as part of this corporate realignment.

Despite the behind-the-scenes turnover, TNA appears to be gaining momentum. The promotion recently secured a television deal in Latin America, a move that reflects growing international ambitions under the new leadership regime.

With Tompkins and Forman now stepping into more prominent roles, it’s clear TNA is leaning on experienced insiders to help steer the company through its latest evolution. How their leadership shapes TNA’s creative and media strategies moving forward will be worth watching closely.
