Emma (Tenille Dashwood) returned to WWE on Friday Night SmackDown

Another former WWE star returned to the company tonight on Friday Night SmackDown.

As was noted last week, Ronda Rousey wanted to face all challengers and she issued an open challenge for this week. Before her match Friday night, Rousey was in full-blown heel mode as she talked about being an active champion.

After Rousey’s promo, Tenille Dashwood was revealed as her opponent and she is back to using the name Emma. This is Emma’s first time in a WWE ring in almost 5 years. Emma was very competitive but after raking the eyes, Rousey won after hitting the Piper’s Pit and the armbar submission.

Emma took to social media and reacted to Friday night’s match.

“5 years ago today I was heartbroken feeling like my dream had come to an end. Today my heart is so full! I’m overwhelmed by the amount of support I have. You guys are the best. Now… I’ve got some unfinished business to take care of!” wrote Emma.

Before last night’s match, Emma’s last WWE match was on the October 23, 2017 edition of “Raw,” where she lost to Asuka. A day earlier, on October 22, she lost to Asuka at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs.

Emma recently left Impact Wrestling after three years with the company. During her time there, she held the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Titles.

After her WWE release and before Impact Wrestling, Emma had a stint in Ring of Honor. She was part of the ROH Women of Honor Title 2018 tournament. A year later, Emma made her All Elite Wrestling debut at AEW All Out 2019. She was one of the participants in the Casino Battle Royale. The winner ended up being former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose.

WWE is now interested in bringing back “several” more former WWE Women’s Superstars including Tegan Nox. Nox was released on November 18, 2021.

Tenille Dashwood Seems To Confirm She’s Done With Impact Wrestling, Possible WWE Return

Following recent speculation that Tenille Dashwood had parted ways with Impact Wrestling due to her profile being removed from the promotion’s official roster page, she seems to have all but officially confirmed it herself. Dashwood tweeted the definition of “free agent” earlier today to seemingly signal her departure. Mike Johnson of PW Insider has confirmed that the Australian wrestler’s contract expired and wasn’t renewed shortly after a loss to Masha Slamovich on AXS TV last month.

After her time in WWE as Emma, Dashwood arrived in Impact in 2019 to challenge the Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie. While she didn’t capture gold as a singles competitor, she did find success in the women’s tag division when she formed The Influence alongside personal photographer Kaleb with a K and Impact legend Madison Rayne. At “Sacrifice” on March 5, Dashwood and Rayne defeated The Inspiration to become the Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They would reign atop the division until “Slammiversary,” when they lost the titles to the newly reunited Ragnarok, the team of Rosemary and Valkyrie.

While The Influence would add Gisele Shaw to the group, Dashwood’s exits marks the end of the original members’ time in Impact. Marking the end of his second run, Konley announced in April that he was leaving after two years. Then, after spending the better part of 14 years in the former TNA, Rayne joined All Elite Wrestling earlier this month as a coach in the women’s division. As for Dashwood, she has Wrestlefest appearances in the UK scheduled for September. Beyond that, it’s possible that she could follow her former partner to AEW, as she appeared in the inaugural AEW Women’s Casino Battle Royale. She could also head to Ring of Honor, as she did compete in the Women of Honor division in 2018-2019.

There is growing speculation over Tenille Dashwood returning to WWE for the first time since 2017.

The former Emma confirmed her departure from Impact Wrestling over the weekend, tweeting the definition of “free agent” on her social media. The tweet came shortly after the promotion removed Dashwood from Impact Wrestling’s official roster page.

WWE Superstar Madcap Moss responded to the tweet with several rolling eyes emojis, hinting at Dashwood’s potential comeback to WWE. Earlier this month, Dashwood got the wrestling world buzzing by posting a photo of herself and Moss, confirming that they are seeing each other.

Ahead of her potential WWE return, Dashwood will be seen at several indie events in the United Kingdom next month for WrestleFest.

Tenille Dashwood Signs With Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling announced that Tenille Dashwood has signed with the company. Dashwood will make her Impact debut in Mexico City, Mexico on August 15th and August 16th.

Since being released by WWE in October of 2017, Dashwood has worked on the independent scene. She had signed with ROH in February of 2018, however she revealed this past March that she was no longer under contract with the promotion.

Below is Impact’s announcement of Dashwood’s signing:

ROH Women Of Honor Star Tenille Dashwood Is Now A Free Agent

On her social media accounts, Tenille Dashwood announced she is now a free agent, writing “Free agent. Happy, healthy, & healed.” Dashwood’s ROH contract ended this month and it’s unclear at the moment if she’ll be re-signing with the promotion. Dashwood was initially placed in the Lifeblood stable, so it remains to be seen if that connection will continue or not.

Dashwood has been out of action for the past six months after undergoing shoulder surgery for dislocated and torn labrum. The former WWE Star also dealt with a full body flare up from the autoimmune disease, psoriasis.

Back in January, Dashwood commented about her health.

“Sometimes you really do have to take a step backwards (or many) to move forwards! I’ve spent the past few months focusing on being happy and healthy! I spent time with my family and friends and traveled. These things make me happy! I’ve rehabbed my shoulder diligently & implemented new eating habits (with a few exceptions over the holidays) to get my skin condition (psoriasis) & health better. Now look at me! Almost fully healed through diet!”

Tenille Dashwood’s ROH Contract Expiring Soon

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Tenille Dashwood could soon become a free agent as her Ring of Honor contract expires at the end of the month.

Sources close to the situation say Tenille is currently in negotiations with Ring of Honor to potentially ink a new contract, but as of this week nothing has been signed. That means her upcoming appearances in Las Vegas could be her last with the company.

Dashwood signed on to join the Women of Honor in February 2018.

Tenille — formerly known as Emma in WWE — started in-ring training recently to prepare for her return after undergoing shoulder surgery months back. If she re-signs with ROH, we’re told Dashwood’s in-ring return could take place at G1 Supercard.

Tenille Dashwood will be out of action until further notice, as she announced during a Ring of Honor TV taping on Saturday that she’s in need of shoulder surgery.

Dashwood explained during the announcement that she’s been been wrestling on a bad shoulder for six months and now surgery is required. Dashwood also revealed that in addition to an injured shoulder, she has an autoimmune disease and a skin condition.

According to PWInsider, the injury is legitimate and not an angle.

No word at this point on how long Tenille will be out of action.
