Team 3D and The Hardys to Battle One More Time at Bound For Glory

The Hardys have reclaimed their spot atop the TNA tag team ranks, walking out of Slammiversary 2025 as the new World Tag Team Champions. In a wild four-way ladder match, Matt and Jeff toppled The Rascalz, FIR$T CLA$$, and the reigning champs, The Nemeths — but it was how they won that had fans buzzing.

With every ladder at ringside destroyed in the chaos, Jeff Hardy revealed a backup plan straight out of his unpredictable playbook: a rope ladder lowered from the rafters. Jeff climbed the hanging ladder and snatched the titles, adding yet another chapter to The Hardys’ already legendary tag team legacy.

But the celebration didn’t last long. Moments after the win, Bully Ray made a surprise return to TNA, not only giving the brothers their due — but throwing down a challenge. Bully called for one more showdown: The Hardys vs. Team 3D at Bound For Glory, set for October 12th.

The Hardys didn’t hesitate. The match is on — two of the most iconic teams in wrestling history will collide once again on TNA’s biggest stage of the year.

The Dudley Boyz (Team 3D) Have Reportedly Signed WWE Legends Contracts

Fans attending the taping of Impact Wrestling’s 1000th episode this weekend will witness the special reunion of Bully Ray and D-Von, collectively known as Team 3D in Impact (and the Dudley Boyz in WWE). Before they lace up their boots again, a new report shared an interesting tidbit about the team’s relationship with that other company.

Amidst a write-up penned by Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, it is noted that Bully Ray and D-Von recently inked legends contracts with WWE. The specific terms of those agreements are unknown, but with both men set to reunite at Impact 1000, and Bully still appearing as an active performer in the company, it seems there is at least a little freedom for them to seek work in promotions outside of WWE.

The Dudley Boyz’s last WWE match took place on the SummerSlam 2016 kick-off show as they faced the team of Sami Zayn and Neville. The duo were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 2018.

In the years following their induction, D-Von took a major step back from wrestling as he dealt with some health issues, which included a back surgery, and a stroke that he suffered in 2020. Luckily, D-Von has since bounced back, and is now preparing for his in-ring return as he and Bully take on a pair of mystery opponents at Impact 1000.

Team 3D Reunion Announced For Impact 1000

Team 3D is reuniting in Impact for the first time since 2014.

Impact Wrestling announced via “Busted Open Radio” on Thursday that Bully Ray and Devon, collectively known as Team 3D, will appear on the 1,000th episode of “Impact” on September 14. The special episode will be taped on September 9 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York.

Team 3D has a rich history in TNA/Impact as they were the inaugural TNA World Tag Team Champions in 2007. Devon also became a two-time TNA Television Champion, while Ray is a former two-time World Heavyweight Champion. They were inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame in 2014 before returning to WWE for a year-long run.

They had their last tag team match thus far at a House of Glory event in 2016 to compete in four-way Tag Team Championship match also involving The Hardys, Private Party, and the winning team of Angel Ortiz and Mike Draztik. As The Dudley Boyz, they appeared on WWE programming in 2018 ahead of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame that year. Devon resigned from his WWE producer job this past January, while Ray has been active in Impact again since last October.

In 2021, Devon explained that the two were at different points in their careers considering he was a WWE producer, while Ray remained active in the ring. Earlier this year, Devon clarified that there is no heat between himself and his long-time tag team partner.

Impact 1000 will also feature appearances from Awesome Kong and The Beautiful People’s Angelina Love and Velvet Sky. It remains to be seen what role these legends will play during the momentous episode.

Team 3D would Like To Return To WWE & Revitalize Tag Division

“Team 3D” Bully Ray and Devon recently did a interview with Sorts Illustrated’s Extra Mustard site to promote the upcoming House of Hardcore event in Toronto.

Team 3D talked about wanting to return to WWE:

Devon: “For us not to be back there, knowing that we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been in, I don’t understand it. We’re better now than we were ten or fifteen years ago. I understand that they want the future. But without the older generation that paved the way for these younger guys to come, you’re not going to have it. Wrestling is a lost art, so you need the older guys like us to help show the younger guys how it’s done. I don’t understand it, though I know it needs to be on their terms.”

Bully Ray: “Take the Dudley Boyz and put them back in WWE, and you’d add instant credibility to the tag division. The great thing about the Dudleys is we can work with any team and we can work any style. Not only will we help one team get over and learn and get better, but we can help all of them. It seems pretty simple to me – having the Dudleys back in WWE is best for business, so I don’t have a really great answer for why we are not there. Only they know. You would think the most decorated tag team in history of WWE would be able to go back into a company and breathe life into the tag division. It may never happen, but you never say never. It could be right around the corner.”
