Sin Cara Gets New Ring Name

This past weekend saw the debut of Jorge Arias, a.k.a. Sin Cara, in AAA in the promotion’s Guerra de Titanes event. Arias was recently granted his release from WWE with three years left on his deal. He is on a 90-day non-compete and is not free to wrestle elsewhere until March.

WWE has not given Arias the right to use the “Sin Cara” name since they own it. Now the former Sin Cara is going by “Cinta de Oro” and he revealed the new ring name on Instagram, which translates to “Gold Ribbon”.

Luchablog noted that Cinta de Oro is the name of the Ciudad Juarez legend who trained Arias, and he has been wearing a gold ribbon on his mask as a way to honor him the last few years.

Arias had filed a trademark on Cinta de Oro in Mexico this past July, but it has not been approved so far. Legal action may be taken however as Luchablog has found a Facebook post from a woman named María Zárate claims to have ownership of Cinta de Oro since 2016.

The people in Arias’ Instagram post are allegedly the sons of Cinta de Oro to show that he has the approval from the family to use the ring name. However, in the same Facebook post from Zárate, a profile of who appears to be Ciudad Juarez legend Ari Romero, or a relative of his, implies that the men in posing with Arias are not Cinta de Oro’s legitimate sons.

WWE Has Released Luke Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension

WWE has announced they’ve parted ways with Sin Cara.

The company posted a statement on WWE.com that says:

WWE has come to terms on the release of Sin Cara. WWE wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.

As we previously reported, the wrestler formerly known as Hunico requested his release from the company last month.

Sin Cara said at the time that he was asking for his release because he didn’t feel like he was being valued as a talent in WWE.

The 42-year-old wrestler attended last night’s Combate Americas event in support of Alberto El Patron and told reporters beforehand that he hasn’t ruled out the idea of stepping into the octagon for an MMA fight.

“Thank you WWE Universe it has been an amazing adventure,” Sin Cara tweeted once the news was made public.

Sin Cara Requests Release From WWE

WWE star Sin Cara has announced he’s requesting his release from the company.

The wrestler made the announcement via social media with a lengthy statement in Spanish, which we’ve translated below:

Last night, after praying and considering it a lot, thinking about my children and their future, I made one of the most difficult but sensible decisions I have had to make in my professional wrestling career; I have asked for my WWE release.

Since I was a child, all I wanted to do was fight and all my life I have taken decisions and sacrifices to put myself in a position to fulfill that dream. There are 20 long years of experience and total dedication to my sport that I love and respect. I have traveled the world, met incredible people and fought for the incredible fans of the WWE Universe.

I am so grateful for the opportunity they gave me, however, I realized that I am stuck in a place where I am not valued as an athlete or talent. I have worked hard and honestly for many years to polish my trade, I have been loyal, respectful, a team player, support and I have waited patiently for the opportunity to show the world everything I can do. Unfortunately, after all these years, that opportunity never came or I feel that it will ever come while I remain where I am.

The best years of my professional wrestling career are coming and I think the best is yet to come! I am a healthy, disciplined man, respectful of my profession and its environment, of my companions and mainly of the public who has never failed. This is not the end, on the contrary, this is the beginning of the next chapter and I am excited for what the future holds!

I want to thank WWE for this incredible chapter, I will always be grateful. Most importantly, thanks to the WWE Universe for its unwavering support and to all my public that in all parts of the world has supported me and showed its affection, the only way I can correspond is by continuing to provide with all the narrow, passion and professionalism that I have Always shown. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Sin Cara had been off television for some time before recently returning to Raw after the draft. The wrestler began a program with Andrade upon his return and was paired with a masked female wrestler named Carolina to combat Zelina Vega.

The wrestler currently playing the role of Sin Cara is Jorge Arias aka Hunico. He permanently replaced the original wrestler under the mask in 2013.

Arias has been with WWE since 2009.

WWE ‘Exiles’ Sin Cara After Chris Jericho Fight

As noted, Sin Cara and Chris Jericho were involved in an incident on the WWE tour bus this past weekend as the RAW crew traveled from Leeds, England to Glasgow, Scotland. The scuffle started when Jericho confronted Cara, who was annoying the rest of the bus by making noises, and ended with Jericho biting down on Cara’s hand.

It looks like anger management classes aren’t the only form of punishment Cara will receive as he’s been “exiled” to the SmackDown side of the current European tour, according to PWInsider. At one point Cara was going to be sent home from the tour but at the last second, officials reconsidered and “exiled” him to the blue side of the tour.
