Update On When Ronda Rousey’s WWE Contract Expires

As noted, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is a “very good chance” that WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey could be done with WWE after WrestleMania, or the Backlash pay-per-view in May. Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that the company is working with the mindset that she’s finishing up within the next couple of months.

It was first reported last June that Rousey was signed to a multi-year deal. TMZ today confirmed that report, stating that a WWE spokesperson told them that Rousey’s WWE contract expires on April 10, 2021.

Rousey may still be taking a break from WWE. Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Rousey informed WWE last November that it was likely that she would be taking a break after WrestleMania, however that is not set in stone yet.

Rousey has openly talked about starting a family soon. Even before she made her WWE debut last April at WrestleMania 34Rousey told Yahoo Sports that she and her husband, Travis Browne, were “ready to start having kids soon,” but she first wanted to give WWE a shot. When asked by TMZ last May when she planned on having a baby, she replied, “Soon, someday soon.”

Rousey is scheduled to defend her title against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble PPV this Sunday. New subscribers can sign up for the WWE Network today by clicking here and get their first month for free, which includes NXT Takeover this Saturday as well as the WWE Royal Rumble.

Could Ronda Rousey Be Leaving WWE Soon?

Image result for Ronda Rousey WWE RAW

It appears that the Ronda Rousey era in WWE is ending sooner than expected. In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there is a “very good chance” that Rousey could be done with the company after WrestleMania.

According to Meltzer, the working idea is that Rousey will be finishing up at WrestleMania 35 in April. He added on Wrestling Observer Radio that her departure is imminent and everyone in the company is working with the mindset that she’s finishing up within the next couple of months.

Rousey joined WWE last year, appearing at the end of the Royal Rumble PPV. Her first major match was a tag match with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34 last April. Even before her debut, Rousey said that she wanted to start having children soon.

“We’re ready to start having kids soon and I was thinking about what I’ve left unfinished in my life because I want to entirely focus on having kids when that time comes,” Rousey told Yahoo Sports in March of 2018. “I took a long look at my life and thought that if I don’t try and take a shot with the WWE, I would regret it for the rest of my life. I want to be an example to my kids about pursuing your dreams and being able to do anything. I guess this is my way of nesting and getting ready for children. I’m trying to prove to my unborn babies that they can accomplish any dream that they want to go after.”

In June of last year, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair indicated that Rousey’s WWE deal was for one-year and that she “then wants to get out of there.” Flair said that Rousey wanted to have children and that she should be prepared to lose a potential match with his daughter, Charlotte Flair, at WrestleMania 35.

“In my humble opinion, if Rousey wants to elevate her status in the company she needs to go through The Queen and The Queen ain’t afraid of her, I got news for ya,” Flair said during a Q&A in Florida. “I just saw her deadlift 315 lbs and she can bench 205 lbs for 6 reps. She is gifted beyond belief. I’m not involved obviously in any of the thinking but if they’re ever going to put the women where they belong, this is the year because I think Ronda has only signed a one-year deal and then she wants to get out of there. She wants to have kids and all that. She just needs to be be prepared to lose. Not if sure if Ronda likes that.”

Reports at the time was that Rousey was signed to a multi-year deal.

Meltzer noted that there is also the case that Rousey ends her WWE run at the PPV after WrestleMania, which would be Backlash in May. As we’ve seen in the past when Brock Lesnar appeared to be leaving the company only to suddenly sign a new deal, there is always a chance that WWE can offer her a great contract to stay at the last minute. It was also noted that WWE could always possibly have her in a role similar to The Undertaker or John Cena where she appears sporadically.

Rousey is currently the RAW Women’s Champion and is scheduled to defend her title against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble PPV this Sunday, January 27 inside Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. FOX Wants Ronda Rousey On SmackDown In 2019

Image result for According to Wrestling Inc, FOX wants Ronda Rousey on the blue brand when SmackDown makes the move in 2019.

WrestlingINC reports that FOX wants to have Ronda Rousey on the SmackDown roster when SmackDown Live! moves to the network. FOX feels that Rousey’s MMA background, popularity and credibility as an athlete will be a major selling point to promote the show.

FOX reportedly wants SmackDown to have more of a sports direction and feature less comedy to fit in with their other sports programming. The addition of Rousey to SmackDown Live is expected to make her a main player in their efforts to do cross-promotional campaigns between WWE and FOX’s other programs.

As noted, UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier was recently invited for a tryout to WWE as a commentator. According to reports, FOX likes Cormier and wants WWE to sign him as a commentator. Cormier had to postpone the tryout because of his title defense against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 earlier this month, but recently told Busted Open Radio that he still plans to audition.

Rousey is the current RAW Women’s Champion. While WWE usually executes brand trades shortly after WrestleMania, it will be interesting to see if they hold off until SmackDown moves to FOX in October of 2019.

Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey Needs To Headline WrestleMania 35

Image result for Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey Needs To Headline WrestleMania 35

Cageside Seats has a post that suggest that the expected Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey match at WrestleMania 35 needs to headline the show.

You can check out the article below:

The last thing I’d do is suggest Becky Lynch’s injury and removal from her Survivor Seriesshowdown with Ronda Rousey is a good thing.

That said, there may be some good to come out of it.

With rumors already suggesting a clash between the women could headline — or at least co-headline — WrestleMania 35, the match could only grow in size by keeping the two away from each other, but on each other’s minds.

The reality is, Rousey will continue getting trounced in the Twitter and promo wars because she simply isn’t playing the same game as Lynch, who is on one of the greatest character runs in modern WWE history. But fans want the match and they want it even more now that they can’t have it.

If WWE can have both women go about their business in their respective brands and strategically work moments for them to come close to a clash, it’s only going to build heat.

It also allows their title reigns to grow in length and make the prospect of a champion vs. champion match on the biggest stage of them all all that much more intriguing.

Here’s hoping WWE uses pay-per-view events to put the women in the same place to continue building to the future, but limits any physical interactions until they step on that grand stage.

Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey should main event WrestleMania.

If that happens as a first-time-ever match, it’s a bit of sunshine peeking from the dark cloud of Becky’s injury.

As noted, SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is currently the plan for WrestleMania 35, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer reported in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the match is currently planned to headline the show. If the plan doesn’t change, it will be the first time a women’s match has ever headlined WrestleMania.

Becky Lynch Has Savage Responses For Ronda Rousey And Nia Jax, Note On “Millennial Man” Diss

Image result for Becky Lynch invasion of RAW

We noted yesterday how RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey took to Instagram to write a lengthy post on SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, knocking her for being weak and not being able to take a real punch. At the same time, Nia Jax tweeted a photo of her busted fist after the stiff shot to Lynch on RAW. That shot gave Becky a broken nose and a severe concussion, forcing her to name Charlotte Flair for her replacement in Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series match against Rousey.

The Champ took to Twitter this afternoon and responded to Jax and Rousey. Lynch hit Rousey with a “TL/DR” jab and knocked her for having a weak mind and a weak jaw. Lynch accused Jax of sucker-punching her and warned her for payback, also calling her a b—h.

Becky wrote in response to Rousey’s Instagram post, “Ronnie, TL/DR. When I got my face broke I got up, owned you THEN showed up the next day looking to fight some more. When you got your face broke you hid for a year under your blankie. Your mind is as weak as your jaw, & I’m going to move heaven & earth to come destroy them both.”

She wrote in response to Jax’s photo, “You gave me your best sucker punch, but I got back up to destroy your whole roster. They won’t let me fight, but I’ll get back up from that too. It’s what I do. So enjoy your one free shot, because as bad as my memory is now, I haven’t forgotten you, b—h.”

In an interesting note on Rousey’s “Millennial Man” diss to Lynch, they are both 31 years old and were actually born just two days apart. Becky was born on January 30, 1987 and Rousey was born on February 1, 1987.

Below are Becky’s tweets along with the earlier posts from Jax and Rousey’s for those who missed it:

@beckylynchwwe I’m really sorry to hear The Millennial Man will not be showing up for her legally arranged ass whooping on November 18th at the Staples Center.

Unfortunately now everyone knows if someone hauls off and punches you for real, your face implodes. I suggest you keep practicing your tough guys faces in the mirror, should be very effective physical therapy.

And have fun watching Korean soap operas on Netflix or whatever the hell the Millennial Man does with her free time. Don’t worry I’m not the back stabbing cheap shotting ambushing cowardly type, so you’re perfectly safe to take your time and heal up until your figurative balls have dropped and you’re finally ready for your comeuppance. I want you 100% healed up, prepared, and looking me in the eye when the bell rings. Lemmie know when you’re done healing your boo boos and ready for me to serve you your ass on a silver platter with your avocado toast.

I do have to admit, The Millennial Man is stunningly conniving. She poked the bear and ran like a bat outta hell when the bear awoke – Feeding me her favorite frienemy and fellow #FAUXhorsewoman @charlottewwe is a new level of manipulative cowardice, even for The Millennial Man. @charlottewwe is a Superfight and I’ve always wanted to fight her – but she’s just the stand in for the beating @beckylynchwwe has coming to her this Sunday. I’ll be sending The Champ a choice piece of Charlotte as a souvenir #RondaVsCharlotte #SurvivorSeries #Nov18 #4horsewomenVSfauxhorsewomen

Backstage News On When WWE Has Plans To Do Becky Lynch Vs. Ronda Rousey

Image result for Backstage News On When WWE Has Plans To Do Becky Lynch Vs. Ronda Rousey

It looks like the match between SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey may happen at WrestleMania 35.

As we’ve noted, Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view will now feature Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair in a non-title match due to Becky suffering injuries at the hands of Nia Jax during the invasion angle on Monday’s RAW. Rousey vs. Flair had been rumored for WrestleMania 35, but WWE was forced to rush the match due to Becky’s injuries.

The Lynch vs. Rousey match for WrestleMania was discussed on Tuesday when WWE officials changed plans for Survivor Series, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. That match will likely be one of the top women’s matches at WrestleMania 35 on April 7 at MetLife Stadium.

Ronda Rousey Reacts To Becky Lynch Injury With Instagram Tirade

ronda rousey becky lynch instagram tirade injury survivor series

RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey has taken to Instagram to launch a scathing attack on her recently injured rival and SmackDown Live counterpart Becky Lynch.

“I’m really sorry to hear The Millennial Man will not be showing up for her legally arranged ass whooping on November 18th at the Staples Center,” Rousey wrote in a caption that was accompanied by a screenshot of a Nate Diaz tweet. “Unfortunately now everyone knows if someone hauls off and punches you for real, your face implodes. I suggest you keep practicing your tough guys faces in the mirror, should be very effective physical therapy.”

As we previously reported, Becky was pulled from their upcoming match after suffering a concussion and fracturing parts of her face while leading an invasion of Raw.

Rousey continued the talk trash, saying: “Don’t worry I’m not the back stabbing cheap shotting ambushing cowardly type, so you’re perfectly safe to take your time and heal up until your figurative balls have dropped and you’re finally ready to for your comeuppance.”

“I want you 100% healed up, prepared, and looking me in the eye when the bell rings,” she added. “Lemmie know when you’re done healing your boo boos and ready for me to serve you your ass on a silver platter with your avocado toast.”
