The following is scheduled for tonight’s 12/21 ROH on Comet TV:
Fallout from the Final Battle PPV
New ROH Champion Kyle O’Reilly teams with reDRagon partner Bobby Fish and Dalton Castle against former ROH Champion Adam Cole and ROH Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks.
Pro Wrestling Sheetreports that Michael Elgin will no longer be working with Ring of Honor in the near future, because he is unhappy with how the company operates.
Pro Wrestling Sheet’s sources close to the situation tell them Elgin informed ROH this week that he no longer intends to work with them, and he surprisingly hasn’t even heard back from them to confirm it was received.
Pro Wrestling Sheet’s sources say Big Mike has been unhappy the past year over things like lack of communication and focus on fresh talent, so he felt like now was the perfect time to move on.
Elgin signed a 2-year deal with NJPW this year, so he’s not jobless.Plus, he recently launched his own federation in Illinois called Glory Pro.
Cody Rhodes recently did a interview with Rolling Stone.
The reasons behind his atypical renaissance are myriad, as were the motivations for walking away from WWE earlier this year. Over the course of a wide-ranging conversation, Rhodes offered self-reflection on his new and uncertain journey, how every night on the road is a path toward acceptance of his late father Dusty Rhodes’ passing and his refusal to indulge passé industry jargon. Oh, and that not-insignificant announcement that he’s the latest member of New Japan/Ring of Honor’s wrecking crew, Bullet Club.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Silas Young just signed a new 1-year contract with Ring of Honor.
Young says the deal has now been finalized and it allows him to continue taking bookings with companies outside of the United States, as long as it doesn’t interfere with ROH.
The Last Real Man adds, “It will be weird to not be wrestling every weekend, but after almost 15 years it will be nice to spend some weekends with my family and let the body rest some.”
Silas announced in July that his previous deal had expired and it was reported that the two sides were in talks. No word on what took so long for the two to hammer things out.
Young says he will be fulfilling bookings that were made prior to his signing.
The Young Bucks have signed a new two-year deal that will see them work both Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, similar to the schedule they’ve worked this year.
The deal will see the brothers receive a significant increase in pay from ROH and NJPW for 2017, then another increase in 2018. They will be allowed to maintain their own merchandise and will be able to give more creative input. The deals are exclusive to the US and Japanese markets but they are still able to work overseas dates that don’t coincide with ROH or NJPW bookings. While exclusive to the US and Japan, the brothers will still be allowed to work for PWG in the US.
It was The Bucks who set the wheels in motion for Matt Hardy’s video at Final Battle, which you can see below with a video of The Bucks signing their new deals. The Hardys vs. The Bucks is currently scheduled for April 1st in Lakeland, FL, the night before WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.
Regarding Matt’s video that aired on pay-per-view this weekend which you can watch below, it was approved by TNA. Brandi Rhodes’ appearance to introduce her husband Cody Rhodes was also approved by TNA.
Dave Meltzer notes that there is nothing to the rumors of The Bucks appearing on TNA TV for the upcoming Total Nonstop Deletion episode, and there’s nothing on paper regarding anyone from ROH working for TNA but it’s very interesting that the two promotions are cooperating.
Last night at ROH Final Battle, Broken Matt Hardy appeared on the big screen. Hardy said that he and his brother Nero are coming to ROH to go after the spot monkeys in The Young Bucks. To prove that they are the best tag team in the galaxy. Matt said that they are going to make the rednecks and spot monkey’s obsolete and that they will delete them. The crowd chanted delete with Matt
