Back in December, Rich Swann was arrested after a domestic altercation with his wife, wrestler Su Yung. Days later, the couple reconciled, and were reportedly doing well. In late January, the charges were dropped by the prosecutor’s office due to “insufficient evidence.” Many were wondering if he was primed to return to WWE (he was suspended while the case was pending), but on February 15th, WWE.com announced that the two sides had parted ways.

While Swann has picked up post-WWE bookings, it appears that he is looking to call it a career; Swann posted the following on Twitter, noting that when he finishes up his current bookings that he will retire…

Rich Swann And WWE Mutually Part Ways

rich swann cleared charges domestic violence su yung

WWE announced yesterday that Rich Swann is done with the company.

WWE’s statement:

Rich Swann and WWE have mutually agreed to part ways as of today, February 15, 2018.

WWE wishes Swann the best in all of his future endeavors.

Swann was arrested and charged for false imprisonment/kidnapping and misdemeanor battery (touching or striking) after an incident with his wife Vannarah Riggs, who currently works for Impact Wrestling as Su Yung, in mid-December. Swann was driving a car with Riggs and apparently began to critique her performance at a wrestling show earlier in the night. Swann supposedly got angry and Riggs jumped out of the car because she was worried that the argument was going to escalate. Swann allegedly stopped the car in traffic and yelled for her to return before putting her in a headlock and dragging her back to the vehicle. The car was apparently not in park, and it crashed into a telephone pole. Swann denied physically touching Riggs and the couple reconciled shortly after. Swann was later cleared of all charges the incident.

According to court documents, prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to move forward with the case and requested that all charges be dismissed.

Update On Rich Swann And His Wife After Recent Domestic Arrest

Rich Swann and his wife, Vannarah Riggs (women’s wrestler Su Yung), had apparently patched things up shortly after Swann’s domestic arrest earlier this month in Gainesville, FL. THE Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the two were said to be doing well, which was no secret among friends they knew.

Just one week after the arrest, Riggs posted a throwback photo with Swann and noted that she couldn’t wait to see him the next day but it looks like her Facebook account has been deactivated. Her post said, “I can not wait to see my husband tomorrow! After such an awesome weekend of wrestling debuting in two different promotions across America nothing would be better than to see his face [heart emoji] throwback to our too sweets my love”

As noted, Swann was suspended indefinitely by WWE following the arrest and he may be fired if he’s found guilty of the charges – false imprisonment/kidnapping and misdemeanor battery (touching or striking). According to the police report, Swann had been critiquing his wife’s performance at an indie wrestling show during their ride home together. Riggs told police she tried leaving out of fear of the argument escalating due to Swann’s occasional temper. A witness told police that Swann placed Riggs in a headlock and forced her back into the car. Swann claimed he never physically forced Riggs to get back into the car and said she did so on her own. Riggs reportedly attempted to leave the car again while it was moving but Swann chased after her, which caused the car to crash into a telephone pole. Swann told police that he chased her only to get the GPS directions she had on her phone as they were using that to travel with.

Swann’s attorney, Ian M. Pickens of Meldon Law, issued the following statement to SportingNews.com earlier this month:

“At this point, no criminal charges have been filed officially against him so depending on how that process plays out will determine our scope of representation. We’re hopeful for a fair and quick resolution on behalf of Mr. Swann, but ultimately the state attorney will make their decision (on potential charges) when they deem it appropriate. We’re working on the case now and things we may do to assist Mr. Swann. But as far as specifics, I can’t comment on that.”

Rich Swann Update Following Weekend Arrest Over Domestic Incident With Wife, WWE Removes RAW Match

rich swann suspended wwe arrest

As noted, WWE has suspended Rich Swann after he was arrested for false imprisonment/kidnapping and misdemeanor battery (touching or striking) following a weekend domestic incident with his wife, Vannarah Riggs, who works the indies as Su Yung. You can read full details on the incident at this link.

Swann was released on his own recognizance from the Alachua County Jail in Gainesville, FL on Sunday, according to PWInsider. A stipulation of Swann’s release is that he will abide by an order that says he will have “no direct or indirect hostile contact” with his wife, which will also prevent them from living together. Swann was also ordered to contact court services within 24 hours of his release. A judge has been assigned to the case but no court date has officially been set.

No word yet on Swann’s future with WWE but he will be immediately terminated if he’s convicted of the charges. Swann was suspended indefinitely this weekend due to the company police on domestic abuse. Swann was set to face Drew Gulak on tonight’s RAW to determine the new #1 contender to WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore but WWE removed all mentions of the match from their website and no replacement plans have been announced but we will keep you updated.
