Finn Balor Relinquishes WWE Universal Title Due To Injury (Video)

Last night on RAW the first-ever WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor relinquished the title due to a shoulder injury he suffered while winning the Title at SummerSlam.

Balor suffered the shoulder injury after taking a powerbomb into the barrier. Ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson noted that an MRI yielded results showing “a possible labrum tear. He’s expected to be out of action for up to 4-6 months.

Balor cut a promo on how he achieved the impossible at SummerSlam, then relinquished the title. Balor said he is coming for the title as soon as he’s able to.

It was announced by RAW General Manager Mick Foley and RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon that a new Universal Champion will be crowned on next week’s RAW after a series of matches.

Seth Rollins defeated Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens defeated Neville, Big Cass defeated Rusev and Roman Reigns defeated Chris Jericho. The winners advanced to a Fatal 4-Way match next week to determine the new WWE Universal Champion.

Monday Night RAW – Fan TAKEN DOWN By Security For Rushing The Ring

Some idiot attending Monday Night RAW ran into the ring during Seth Rollins‘ promo tonight … but as you can see in the video, security swiftly handled the situation.

A fan in attendance at the American Bank Center in Texas somehow managed to catch the aftermath on video, and it shows security take the dumb fan to the ground moments after his face-to-face with Seth. The man was only seen on TV for a split second and appeared to be wearing a helmet.

This isn’t the first time Seth has dealt with a fan run-in. Last year, a guy hopped the security wall and attempted to walk with him to the ring also during a taping of RAW.

Police says the security guard was bitten on his forearm by the fan — 23-year-old Edward Ferrero — but did not require medical attention.

He was eventually arrested for assault and criminal trespass.

Below are a couple of fan video’s of the incident:

Backstage News On Why Charlotte Dropped The WWE Women’s Title, SummerSlam Plans

Source: WrestlingINC

Regarding reports that Charlotte dropped the WWE Women’s Title to Sasha Banks because Charlotte is taking time off, that is not the case. PWInsider reports that Charlotte is scheduled for all future bookings and at no point did she request time off and there were never internal discussions about her taking time off.

The decision to put the title on Sasha was made for two reasons – WWE creative wanted to open the first RAW of the New Era with a big surprise by having Sasha Banks accomplish her dream, and Vince McMahon felt that Charlotte’s run as champion helped to establish the title as legitimate.

Now that there’s a foundation for the title, WWE officials are more open to switching it around and using it to help the RAW storylines. Vince is said to be a big fan of Charlotte’s work.

Triple H is said to be a huge proponent of Banks’ work and since Banks vs. Charlotte was already planned for SummerSlam, the feeling was that the change would add another dimension to their SummerSlam match. F4Wonline.com notes that their rematch is still planned for SummerSlam and that Charlotte has a “brutal” schedule coming up.
