WWE NXT Women’s Champion Asuka has passed Rockin’ Robin’s 502 days as WWE Women’s Champion and is now the longest-reigning women’s champion of any kind, and the longest-reigning champion in WWE history (besides the years-long reigns by Hulk Hogan, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales and Bruno Sammartino that will likely never be surpassed). Asuka is set to defend her title against Ember Moon at Saturday’s NXT “Takeover: Brooklyn III” event.

Below are comments from Bill Goldberg and Kevin Nash on the streak:

Former ROH Champion Adam Cole Signs With WWE

As has been expected for quite some time, former three-time Ring of Honor champion Adam Cole has signed with WWE.

That’s the word according to a report from PWInsider and confirmed by the Wrestling Observer.

WWE has been interested in the 28-year-old star for quite some time. However, he decided to wait so he could continue working for Ring of Honor along with more opportunities in Japan. Over the past year, he wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling as a member of the “Bullet Club” and also defeated Kyle O’Reilly at “Wrestle Kingdom 11” this past January to win the ROH Championship.

Cole is expected to report to the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. later this week and debut with NXT in the near future.  That could be as early as this Saturday at the “TakeOver: Brooklyn III” event at the Barclays Center on the night before “SummerSlam.”

Recent NXT signee Kairi Sane has officially been cleared for in-ring action again.

WWE announced today that Sane will be wrestling in St. Petersburg, FL on Thursday, her first match since getting injured last month.

As we previously reported, Kairi sustained a concussion during the tapings for the Mae Young Classic, but it was expected that she would be cleared by early August.

That timeline appears to have been correct and it appears to be smooth sailing as Kairi helps hold down the home port this weekend while the rest of the crew is in California.

Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned that HoHo Lun wasn’t fired from WWE … the wrestler requested his own release in order to deal with a family situation.

WrestlingInc first reported Lun’s exit and now a rep for WWE confirms, “WWE has granted HoHo Lun’s request to be released for personal reasons.”

No word on what the family situation he’s dealing with is exactly.

Lun came to WWE by way of the Cruiserweight Classic where he made it to the second round and was eliminated by current 205 Live star Noam Dar.

HoHo had been used sparingly on NXT TV, but did team with Tian Bing in the Dusty Rhodes Classic.

His last televised match was against Velveteen Dream in a losing effort back in late June.

Backstage News On WWE Doing Another Superstar Shakeup, Superstars Getting Sent Back To WWE NXT?

There has been talk of doing another Superstar Shakeup after next month’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, according to new reports by PWInsider and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. WWE previously held a roster Shakeup in April after WrestleMania 33.

While it might seem early for another Shakeup, The Observer notes that there is definitely talk of making a few roster moves in the fall. There has also been talk of sending one or more Superstars from the main roster to WWE NXT. The moves from the main roster to NXT would be for talents that were major stars in NXT that Vince McMahon simply is not going to push on RAW or SmackDown, even if they are over, or talents who are doing nothing on the main roster with the feeling that they could be more useful as top stars in NXT.

Donovan Dijak No Longer Taking Independent Bookings, Hints At NXT Future (AUDIO)

donovan dijak not taking bookings hints nxt future audio

If you want to watch ex-ROH wrestler Donovan Dijak mix it up on the independent scene, you better hurry … because the wrestler says he won’t be taking bookings much longer.

Dijak told The New Age Insiders that he’s no longer accepting bookings after PWG‘s annual Battle of Los Angeles — which takes place September 1-3 — but remained coy about his future.

Adding, “There’s obviously going to be a lot of speculation as to what I’m doing. My future isn’t 100 percent completely set in stone at this point yet.”

After a promise of exciting things on the horizon though, Donovan was asked if he had any plans to attend Full Sail University — where WWE films NXT — and he responded by saying, “I’ve been to Full Sail University. It’s a wonderful place.”
