More Lucha Underground Stars Reportedly Seek Legal Help To Obtain Releases

Lucha Underground may have recently settled a class action lawsuit with some of their wrestlers, but it sounds like they could be heading back to court soon with more.

Lucha Central reports Matanza Cueto (ROH star Jeff Cobb), Famous B and XO Lishus (AEW’s Sonny Kiss) have all sought legal representation in order to get their releases from Lucha Underground.

Cobb is the most surprising name on the list, as it was assumed he was released from the company after Season 4 when his character was killed off. Lucha Central claims that despite Jeff signing a contract with ROH, his previous employer has tried to block him from working there because they insist he’s still under contract.

The site also suggests Willie Mack could soon be seeking representation as well due to speculation over his LU contract status being the reason for his NWA National title loss over the weekend.

As we previously reported … El Hijo del Fantasma, Ivelisse, Joey Ryan and Kobra Moon were also recently let out of their LU contracts after banding together in a class-action lawsuit.

Matanza Cueto Vein-Slicing Match Re-Taped (Without Glass Punching)

Source: Pro Wrestling Sheet

The match that caused Matanza Cueto to receive multiple stitches after slicing open a vein will never be aired on television … Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned a new one was taped in it’s place.

Lucha Underground sources say the wrestler’s only got through a third of their match last month in The Temple before Matanza was injured, so a re-shoot was needed.

The new match was filmed on Saturday, with many of the same spots used, only this time no glass was included — which was probably best for everyone.

As we previously reported, the wrestler only had to miss a short amount of ring time.

Matanza Cueto Sliced Vein During Match, Multiple Stitches Required

Matanza Cueto required multiple stitches following his match Saturday night in Boyle Heights … and it’s all because he sliced a vein while punching a window.

Sources in attendance at the Lucha Underground taping report that Jeff Cobb — the man behind the Matanza mask — punched a window during a hardcore match and began to bleed heavily.

The match was cut short after his injury quickly became apparent and Cobb was taken to a nearby hospital for stitches. Rey Mysterio and Dragon Azteca filled the extra time by running to the ring and beating up PJ Black and Johnny Mundo while backstage officials handled the situation.

Sources report that  Matanza can’t get back in the ring until the stitches come out and he’s been forced to cancel bookings next week. However, he should be good to go by the next LU taping.
