Kevin Nash To Donate Brain For CTE Research

Source: ESPN

Concussion and head trauma has been a hot topic in sports and entertainment recently. Just weeks ago we saw the untimely retirement of fan favorite Daniel Bryan due to concussions. At least one wrestler has vowed to do something about it.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has pledged to donate his brain to help research chronic traumatic encephalopathy, otherwise known as CTE.

“Chris Nowinski started the program, and I’ve had several concussions throughout my life and had scans done and stuff and knew that somewhere down the line, I’ve already had short-term memory problems,” Nash told ESPN.com’s Michael Rothstein. “I decided to go ahead. The only way you can diagnose this is after you’re dead.”

Nowinski’s own professional wrestling career was ended well over a decade ago due to concussions, which he’s said he still deals with to this day.

Nowinski issued the following statement to Rothstein:

“It’s so powerful when icons like Kevin Nash are willing to pledge their brain for research and talk about it publicly. Brain donation is really driving our growing knowledge of CTE and the long-term effects of brain trauma. And so I’m hoping that we solve this problem before Kevin’s time comes, but Kevin announcing this means that other families are aware that this research is important and that if they lose somebody, they may think of the concussion Legacy Foundation.”

Wrestling superstar Kevin Nash was arrested early Christmas Eve morning, after getting into a bloody fight with his teenage son Tristen.

55-year-old Kevin Nash, who is currently under contract with WWE, was taken into custody in Volusia County, Florida after cops received a call about a domestic incident just after midnight. When cops arrived to the scene, they noticed blood on Kevin’s face and arrested him. Two hours later, cops received another 911 call from a person claiming 18-year-old Tristen attacked his mother. He was also arrested for battery.

Cops told TMZ that alcohol may have been a factor. Both men where hauled to a nearby jail where they were booked and are being held without bond.

TMZ has received the two police reports. The report says Kevin Nash told cops his son came home wasted and belligerent toward him and Kevin’s wife, then spit in his face and elbow-checked him. Kevin told cops he pinned Tristen to the ground and that’s when Tristen scratched his face.

But Tristen said Kevin was berating him over his relationship with his girlfriend. He says Kevin choked-slammed him to the ground and, just like like Kevin’s signature move, Tristen says he hit his head so hard on the ground he blacked out.

Cops arrested Kevin because they felt he was the primary aggressor.

As for Tristen’s arrest two hours later… Tristen’s uncle told cops the young man was drunk and had slung his mom around the kitchen and tried attacking him as well.

Kevin Nash commented on the domestic incident in a article with the Orlando Sentinel. Nash commented Thursday:

“We’re not the Capones, we just opened presents and we went out to dinner last night.” Nash also said he didn’t mean to hurt Tristen when he took him down for being “out of control.” Kevin added:

“I’m a big guy. I could have hit him anywhere.”

WWE released a statement regarding Kevin’s arrest, stating that his legends contract has been suspended until the matter is resolved.
