Johnny TV (John Hennigan) Returns To AEW On Rampage

John Hennigan has returned to All Elite Wrestling, now going by the name of Johnny TV.

John Hennigan returned to AEW on this week’s Rampage as Johnny TV, joining forces with QT Marshall and his group. Hennigan made his return to AEW at Friday’s show, coming down to the ring to attack Billy Gunn during a segment where QTV was confronting Gunn and The Acclaimed. The group beat the babyfaces down and Hennigan — referred to as Johnny TV by the commentators — celebrated with the group.

Hennigan’s last appearance in AEW was in June of last year, when he faced Miro in a losing effort. Hennigan has reportedly signed a deal with AEW and will be there going forward.

John Morrison Makes AEW Debut As Johnny Elite

Under the ring name Johnny Elite, former WWE Superstar John Morrison made his AEW debut on the May 18 edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS, during which he lost to Samoa Joe in the first round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament after being revealed as The Joker.

AEW Dynamite “Wild Card Wednesday” kicked off with the first of two Joker’s in the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament. Johnny Elite (John Morrison) was the Joker in the men’s tournament facing, Samoa Joe. Johnny was greeted with a massive pop from the audience. Samoa Joe couldn’t care less. The two veterans started the match off with a series of strikes before diving into some more of their flashy moves.

A solid opener then ensued between the two veterans, who had, remarkably, never gone one-on-one before. They were evenly matched for the majority of the contest. Johnny got a lot of his stuff in, but it wasn’t enough to put the big man away. Joe got the win after nailing Johnny with a brutal Muscle Buster for the 1-2-3, advancing to the second round of the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in the process.

After the match, Jay Lethal, Sanjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh attacked the Ring Of Honor Television Champion, hitting his shoulder with a lead pipe. Dutt got a few stomps in on Johnny during the attack.

Prior to Morrison’s AEW debut, speculation regarding the identity of the Joke was rampant, with many fans expecting to see the likes of Cesaro and Johnny Gargano. Those two are yet to set foot in an AEW ring, but few will be disappointed with Morrison, who is a very good professional wrestler.

Whether Morrison has signed with AEW remains to be seen, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

As you might recall, John Morrison was released by WWE on Thursday, November 18 along with several of his now-former colleagues. According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis informed the eight talents that they were being released due to budget cuts (although as we reported, WWE generated $256 Million in revenue the previous quarter).

Johnny Impact’s (John Hennigan) Impact Wrestling Contract Expired

Johnny Impact (John Hennigan) has finished up with Impact Wrestling.

Johnny lost to X Division Champion Rich Swann at Sunday night’s Impact Slammiversary XVII pay-per-view and that was the end of his current run, according to PWInsider.

Johnny’s contract with Impact Wrestling reportedly expired several weeks ago, and the two sides agreed that he would work through Slammiversary to finish the storyline with Swann.

Johnny Impact Eliminated From Survivor

John Hennigan, aka Impact Wrestling World Champion Johnny Impact, was eliminated from CBS’s Survivor reality competition show on Wednesday’s episode.

This season of Survivor had a “David Vs. Goliath” theme where half the competitors were notorious underdogs and the other half were breakout successes in their occupations. Both sets of competitors were broken into separate “tribes” to start the season and competed against one another. Hennigan was designated a Goliath, but lasted long enough in the season to make it to the merge, where the remaining players became a single tribe. This was the eighth week of the competition with one castaway already voted off following the merge, Elizabeth.

Impact’s elimination from the show was a complete surprise and not without controversy. Heading into tribal council at the end of the show Hennigan seemed to be in a comfortable spot. The odds were in his favor, as he had lasted more than twenty days on the island and the Goliaths outnumbered the Davids.

The plan was for the Goliaths to vote off one of the Davids, Christian. Christian is a robotics scientist and had become a threat in the game with his ability to quickly solve puzzles. He also had become close with some of the Goliaths, including Hennigan, who affectionately referred to each other as “The Brochachos”.

Out of nowhere, one of Christian’s David team mates played an immunity idol that invalidated any votes cast for him. The next in line for elimination would have been Angelina, a Goliath, who also had a immunity idol played on her behalf. When the dust settled, the only other player who had votes cast for them at tribal council was Hennigan, who received three. Hennigan now joins Elizabeth as a member of the Survivor jury and will cast a vote in deciding who will be awarded the one million dollar prize at the end of the season.
