Kenny Omega Says Jim Cornette Has ‘Backed Himself Up Into A Corner’ With ‘Hateful Speech’

The former manager of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, former color commentator for the NWA, and current podcaster, Jim Cornette, has never shied away from sharing his feelings with the public or taking part in controversial situations.

Kenny Omega and Cornette have not been in each other’s good graces for a long while, with neither man seeming to even remotely respect the other. While on Twitch with “CEOGaming“, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega discussed Jim Cornette, Cornette’s followers, and his opinion on Cornette’s situation.

“I think Jim Cornette has backed himself up into a corner where, now, he’s found this group of extremely pathetic human beings who have no other thing to aspire to become, or no one to base their life off of, no one to listen to, no one to adhere to their commands,” Omega said. “And so, when it became a character that he could play as though he was still traveling up and down the strip in the indies, like back in the old days, now he’s got this group of people hanging off his every word. And all he has to do is sit and talk on a podcast with some other guy.

“When he realized he could make money by delivering hateful speech, he backed himself into a corner, and now, if he wants to make rent, if he wants to buy his fancy McDonald’s double cheeseburger meal, he has to talk about the things that are going to get attention and a lot of the time, that’s going to be your’s truly.”

Omega has received criticism from Cornette before on his wrestling style and matches but has still had success, helping to create the second-largest professional wrestling company in North America: All Elite Wrestling. Omega, Nick + Matt Jackson, and Cody Rhodes were the original EVPs of AEW, alongside Tony Khan, the owner of the company.

Over his 20+ year career, Omega has been able to win the Impact World Championship, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and the AEW World Championship, which he holds the record as the longest-reigning AEW World Champion in history.

Omega has not been traveling with AEW recently due to multiple different injuries his body had sustained working over the past few years. Cornette’s criticism does not stop at Omega, as Cornette has had multiple criticisms regarding AEW as a whole. Despite not traveling with AEW at this very time, Omega revealed whether or not Cornette’s comments have any effect on backstage life at AEW.

“That seeps into our locker room too. Yeah, it does. Everyone is so afraid of the f*cking cult of Cornette army and people that have like, you know, anti-AEW sites that they want to be — they want to do whatever the f*ck they can to stay safe.”

Omega last wrestled on November 13th, 2021 when he lost the AEW World Championship to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page in a 25+ minute match, completing a story that had begun during AEW’s exposition.

Jim Cornette Denies Recent Allegations, ‘I’ve Been Charged With Having An Interesting Sex Life’

Jim Cornette has denied coercing talent in OVW to engage in sexual activities with his wife to protect their careers … saying the only thing he’s guilty of is having an interesting sex life.

On the latest episode of Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast, the promoter strongly denies the accusations made by Independent wrestler Phil Earley – who claims Jim’s wife Stacey attempted to groom him early in his career by sending unwanted lewd photos and harassing messages.

“I have never offered any wrestler, male or female, preferential treatment, a job, a contract, a push, or anything else related to their employment or threatened the opposite if they would or would not engage in ribbled relations with me or my wife,” Cornette said on his show. “No female wrestler that I ever worked with in Ohio Valley Wrestling, or anywhere else, to my recollection, has ever said that I talked to them or treated them improperly, except when critiquing their matches or performance of same, but treated them improperly or with any personal or language or actions of that description. I have not been involved with anyone under legal age.”

“I have never sent inappropriate pics, texts, sexts, or whatever to anybody cause I’ve never sent a damn text to anybody. I’ve never done that on Facebook for the same reason. I have never slept in the same bed with a woman and not had sex with them and it wasn’t a surprise to anybody that was involved with it when it happened,” he continued. “Nobody that I’ve ever known in the biblical sense has been forced or coerced in anyway to be there and all seemed happy to take part and happy when it was over it, you can take that as you will.”

“I’m not being accused of cheating by my spouse or significant other because whenever that’s happened she’s either known about it or been there when it took place. But my own wife is not mad at me for anything. So apparently that just leaves, when you take all those other things out, fun?!? That’s what you’re left over with is just fun?! Day-off personal time amongst friends. Fun?! Isn’t everybody supposed to have their fun?”

Cornette then claims that only 5-6 people in the wrestling industry have been in his hot tub.

“If you take out the manipulating people’s jobs accusation, which we’ve just basically drawn and quartered, as as they say, and illustrated it was f*cking caca. What you’ve got left is I’ve been charged with having an interesting sex life.”

Regarding pictures of his wife’s butt which were shown as proof, Jim says Stacey is proud of her butt and likes to show it off. “Pictures of Stacey’s ass are not uncommon,” he explained. “She is proud of it and rightfully so! I have taken hundreds of pictures of that ass over the years in many different locations. She doesn’t just send them out unsolicited.”

Cornette then claims he and his wife barely know the person who made the allegations against them, but that the wrestler was in proximity of friends to the person his wife was angry with. That’s why, Jim claims, his wife went off about the person via Facebook after a few cocktails.

Jim Cornette Resigns From NWA Following Controversial Comments

On last night’s episode of NWA Powerrr, Jim Cornette made some offensive remarks that ended up getting the episode temporarily pulled so NWA could edit the comments out.

During the broadcast Cornette said, “Trevor Murdoch is the only person who can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia. Trevor Murdoch can take care of himself!”

Earlier today, NWA announced Jim Cornette has resigned from the company, and NWA will also implement a new procedure to review programming before it airs:

Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance. To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we’ve established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward.

We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.

Cornette commented this morning, “Morning everybody! Heard any good jokes lately? This coming Friday’s Jim Cornette Experience (wherever you find your favorite podcasts) is liable to be a good one if you like hearing stupid people told what they can do with their stupidity.”

NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis also gave his thoughts on the situation, calling Cornette’s remarks “in poor taste and unnecessary.”

NWA Temporarily Takes Down Latest NWA Powerrr Episode Over Jim Cornette Remark

NWA Vice President David Lagana announced on social media that they had to temporarily pull last night’s episode of NWA Powerrr over comments made by Jim Cornette.

Lagana tweeted, “On tonight’s episode of NWA Powerrr airing on November 19th 2019, one of our talents made comments which some viewers found offensive. We deeply regret the error and apologize. We have temporarily taken the program down while we correct this error.”

Jim Cornette’s comment that offended fans was, “Trevor Murdoch is the only person who can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia. Trevor Murdoch can take care of himself!”

The Rock Gives Props For The New NWA Powerrr Premiere

Former WWE Champion The Rock took to Twitter to give props to Jim Cornette and everyone else responsible for the new NWA Powerrr show that premiered this week on YouTube, seen below.

The exchange began when Cornette, who is doing commentary for the show, responded to a fan question about how small the ring is.

Cornette responded, “Actually, standard size for all @nwa rings (& most Southern territories) has been 18X18 since the 1960-70’s. Some spot show/small studios used 16X16. Tradition in WWF was 20X20 due to large Northeast rings dating back to boxing rings in the 1950’s, some up to 24X24. #NWAPowerrr”

That’s when The Rock chimed in with props for Cornette and the others behind the new NWA Powerrr show.

Rock wrote, “Congrats Jim, the boys, crew etc. Stumbled across this show last night and enjoyed it. I grew up in territories and started my career at channel 5 in Memphis so I have a lot of love/respect for small scale, crowd tv shows. Cool vintage feel. Keep working hard boys. Rock”

Cornette responded to The Rock and invited him to the next taping. Cornette wrote, “Rocky, thank you so much for taking the time to check it out! I’m sure I speak for @Lagana and @Billy in offering you two tickets ABSOLUTELY FREE to the next taping! If you have more than 2 guests I’ll sneak one in the back for you!”

NWA boss Billy Corgan re-tweeted Rock’s comments, but has not responded.

Jim Cornette To Provide Commentary For Upcoming NWA Shows

One of the most recognizable names in pro wrestling will be staying with the National Wrestling Alliance in a big way. The company has announced that Jim Cornette will be providing color commentary for the NWA’s return to studio television on 9/30 and 10/1. He will be joining Joe Galli on the broadcast team.

A commentator for Major League Wrestling for several years, Cornette has been known for his controversial opinions. He returned to NWA TV at NWA 70, while also pulling broadcasting duties at the Crockett Cup.

According to the NWA, Cornette will be a part of the VIP experience for fans on 10/1 only. Additional information regarding the VIP experience, which is on sale now, includes:

* VIP is $100 per day
* You must enter early to pick your seats
* There will be a choice of a Special Edition poster or an Atlanta Event t-shirt (if you attend both tapings, you have a choice)
* You will receive a special Atlanta event pin
* Post-show Meet and Greet with NWA stars Nick Aldis, Kamille, Eli Drake, Allysin Kay and Billy Corgan

NWA President and Owner Billy Corgan recently discussed the need for the NWA to produce their own programming, especially in today’s wrestling scene.

“It’s one thing to say you’re rebooting the NWA, it’s another thing to run matches on someone else’s stage,” Corgan stated. “We’re very grateful to those people that shared their stage with us, most recently Ring of Honor, which was an incredible opportunity. But now it’s our time to step forward, and it’s time to bring the NWA back into the spotlight, and run on its own oxygen. So, we’re very excited to announce that in October, in Atlanta, we’ll be doing our own television again.”

It was announced at the tip of the MLW TV tapings in Chicago, IL that legendary pro wrestling manager Jim Cornette has joined MLW as a new color commentator. He is currently in the booth alongside regular MLW commentator Rich Bocchini. We are told that Tony Schivone was unable to do commentary for tonight’s tapings due to his commentary commitments to the Georgia Bulldogs.
