WWE announced the following to congratulate NXT Superstar Drew McIntyre on being inducted into the Insane Championship Wrestling Hall of Fame on February 12th in Glasgow. McIntyre will return to ICW for a one-night appearance to receive the honor at the Fight Club event from the O2 ABC.

Drew McIntyre to be inducted into ICW Hall of FameAs Drew McIntyre continues recuperating from the devastating bicep injury he suffered last November at TakeOver: WarGames, the former NXT Champion will have cause for celebration later this month when he returns home to Scotland to be honored by an organization near and dear to his heart.

Glasgow-based Insane Championship Wrestling announced today that it will induct McIntyre into its Hall of Fame on Monday, Feb. 12. The Scottish Superstar will receive the honor in person, making a one-night-only appearance at ICW’s Fight Club event at the O2 ABC in Glasgow.

McIntyre was a mainstay in ICW, both before his original debut in WWE as well as during his three-year hiatus away from WWE. He was the organization’s inaugural ICW Heavyweight Champion, first winning the title in 2006. McIntyre recaptured the title again in 2014, holding it for 378 days. In response to the news, McIntyre described his upcoming induction as a “truly special” honor.

WWE On Historic WWE UK Title Defense, Pete Dunne On What’s Next, Post-Match Reactions (Videos)

WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne retained his title in a Fatal 4 Way at Insane Championship Wrestling’s “Shug’s Hoose Party 4” event this past Saturday night in Glasgow. Dunne retained over BT Gunn, Wolfgang and Trent Seven.

In the video above, Dunne says he beats people up, he hurts people and he collects titles, and he now owns ICW just like he owns WWE. In regards to where the title is going next, Dunne says he’s taking it to the top and keeping it as he captures title after title until everything is his.

The event also saw WWE cruiserweight Noam Dar return to the ICW promotion. WWE posted the following on The BruiserWeight and Dar working the event:

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne retains title in historic defenseIn the first WWE United Kingdom Championship defense to take place in the U.K. outside of a WWE ring, Pete Dunne successfully retained the title Saturday night in Glasgow, Scotland.

The BruiserWeight defeated Trent Seven, Wolfgang and BT Gunn in a Fatal 4-Way Match at Night 1 of “Shug’s Hoose Party 4,” an event held by Insane Championship Wrestling at the O2 ABC. The sold-out event will be available for viewing on ICW’s on-demand service starting 24 hours after the show.

Following the match, the victorious Dunne, never one to mince words, said “ICW is one of the top promotions in the world, and I own it now … just like I own WWE.”

Also at “Shug’s Hoose Party 4,” Cruiserweight Noam Dar returned to action in ICW, which was one of his stomping grounds prior to joining WWE. Dar joined former Pinky Party tag team partner Sha Samuels in tag team action.

Now that Dunne has turned back three opponents in one fell swoop, who will be next in line to step to The BruiserWeight? This much is obvious: The brash but brilliantly dangerous Dunne is unlikely to back down from the challenger, whomever it is.

ICW Coming To The WWE Network, Deal To Be Announced Soon

Word going around the UK scene is that WWE officials are close to finalizing a deal that will see top UK indie promotion Insane Championship Wrestling air on the WWE Network, according to PWInsider Elite.  No word yet on if this will be on-demand content or live content.

The deal with ICW, who recently drew several thousand fans to the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, is said to be a multi-year deal, perhaps for 2-3 years. There is said to be an agreement in place and the deal could be announced some time in the next week.

ICW is closer to the original ECW or WWE’s Attitude Era but it was noted that there content will not be toned down for the WWE Network, at least for the most part.

WWE recently polled fans on which indie companies they would be interested in seeing on the WWE Network. It will be interesting to see if they bring more promotions to the Network in 2017 as they are currently in talks with several North American promotions.
