Bubba Ray Dudley Set To Defend Busted Open’s Honor At WWE NXT Philly Show (2300 Arena)

After initially turning down NXT Champion Trick Williams’ offer to team up and take on Ethan Page and Ridge Holland following the end of “WWE NXT” Halloween Havoc on Sunday, Bubba Ray Dudley changed his mind and agreed to the tag team match at “NXT” 2300 live from the ECW arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania next Wednesday. Dudley interrupted a segment where Ethan Page and Ridge Holland were lamenting over the NXT Championship that Page failed to capture at the premium live event, with Holland saying he would be the man to knock Williams off his “throne” and take his title. He said Williams knows it, and that’s why he asked Dudley to do his “dirty work.” Holland said he was glad Dudley came to his senses and rejected Williams’ offer. Dudley’s music then hit and he stormed down to the ring.

He said that he didn’t know much about Holland before Halloween Havoc, but now, over the past 48 hours after Dudley helped Williams from a beatdown from Page and Holland, that’s all he’s hearing about. Dudley said Holland disrespected him, his radio show, his broadcast partner Dave LaGreca, and all wrestling fans during the pre-show on Sunday. He said the “NXT” fans would need to see a lot more of Holland if he’s ever going to get a shot at the title.

Holland retorted that nobody cares what Dudley thinks anymore. He called him a “nostalgia act” and called ECW “overrated.” That earned him a punch to the face by Dudley, after Holland threatened to put him in the hospital. Williams ran down the ramp to even the numbers game, returning the favor from Halloween Havoc. After they drove the heels out of the ring, Dudley got back on the mic and agreed to the match.

Bully Ray appeared on Monday’s episode of Busted Open on Sirius XM and provided an update on his health after being taken to the emergency room after last Friday’s ROH Death Before Dishonorpay-per-view. Ray went to the hospital after the table shot below from Jay Briscoe:

The following day, Tommy Dreamer tweeted that he spent the night with Ray, and that he was “concerned for him.”

Ray also tweeted on Saturday, saying that he was having a rough day:

On Busted Open, Bully Ray did not sound well. Co-host David LaGreca noted that Ray didn’t even sound like his usual self and Ray stated that part of the reason is because the doctors have told him to try and not get excited or be around anything too loud. He said that he doesn’t remember much from the match and that it has been a very rough couple days since then, especially trying to get back home.

When asked about his future in professional wrestling and whether or not he will have any concerns going forward regarding his health Bully said, “so much so that I’m not even sure if my career should continue.”

Bubba Ray Dudley Continues To Tease A WWE Return

Former WWE Superstar Bubba Ray Dudley continues to tease a return to the company.

The Dudley Boyz bid farewell to the WWE Universe on RAW back in August, the night after SummerSlam. The two were laid out by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, leading many to believe their departure was a storyline to set up a feud between the two teams. Since then, Bubba has been working independent dates while D-von is now working as a producer backstage. Over the past week, Bubba Ray sent out several tweets indicating he is getting the itch to step back in a WWE ring.

In response to a fan who said he misses the Dudley Boyz on Monday nights, Bubba Ray responded:

Another fan told Bubba that if he does return to WWE – he should make a comeback as Bully Ray.

Finally, Bubba was asked if he’d rather challenge for Kevin Owens’ Universal Championship or AJ Styles’ WWE World Championship. He joked that Kevin Owens’ title would probably fit him better, as the two are closer in body stature, but he’s certainly getting his followers’ hopes up regarding a potential return.
