Fans Who Pre-Order AEW Fight Forever Will Be Able To Play More Than One Matt Hardy

“AEW Fight Forever” will be available to play on all major consoles come June 29, 2023. However, fans who pre-order the game will be able to play as Matt Hardy for free when it’s released later this month.

Furthermore, AEW Games has released a trailer for “Fight Forever” to promote Hardy’s inclusion. The teaser features the veteran wrestler as his “Broken” and Hardy Boyz personas, both of whom will be included as playable characters in the game. Both iterations of the wrestling veteran even sit down to play the game in the trailer.

It’s worth noting that the trailer states pre-ordering the game is the only way to get Hardy added for free. However, it remains unclear if he’ll be available as a downloadable character at a later date. Of course, it’s been speculated that some top AEW stars will be left out of the upcoming release. FTR was reportedly dropped from “Fight Forever” last year, but they’re expected to feature as DLCs down the line. Jake Hager, Isiah Kassidy, Jeff Hardy, and The Acclaimed may also have missed the first cut, but the full roster is expected to be confirmed very soon.

The good news, though, is that Eddie Kingston and the Young Bucks have been confirmed for “Fight Forever.” They join a list of names that includes Chris Jericho, Britt Baker, MJF, Kris Statlander, and many more. Interestingly, Cody Rhodes is also expected to be part of the game, despite leaving AEW to join WWE last year.

Matt Hardy Continues To Tease Return Of “Broken” Character (Videos)

Over the last few weeks, Matt Hardy has posted the first episodes of Free the Delete on his YouTube channel, teasing the return of his “Broken” Matt Hardy gimmick. In the third episode, Hardy is visited by his former allies, like the Skarsgard and Vanguard-1.

“Teleport me back to 2016 when I was the hottest act in the business!” Hardy says to Vanguard-1 to no avail.

Hardy’s last WWE TV appearance was back in June at WWE Super ShowDown. His WWE contract is expected to expire in March.

Back in September, Matt commented on how he’d like to finish up his WWE run with “Broken” Matt Hardy, possibly even use different characters at one time.

“I would love to do something to transition to that on to TV, into another character, and into another character, and then ultimately get back to doing ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy,” Hardy said. “I would like to incorporate V1 at some point because I feel like people bereave the Matt facts and the entrance music. I do to a degree, so that’s something in my game-plan. But there’s also new stuff, I have a couple of other new things in the back of my mind, too, that I would like to utilize.

“I would like to be this crazy, constant stream of change character on television, and almost like you said, when I use that would ‘multifarious’ earlier on, like someone who has all of these identities in his body, within his mind … I would love to do something like that because I feel like as entertainment changes, and especially professional wrestling, you can’t be the same thing for too long. People’s attention’s spans are so short, there has to be a constant, gradual change going on at some point.”

Below are the first three episodes of Free the Delete:

Impact Wrestling Licenses ‘Broken’ Content To WWE

According to PWInsider, Impact Wrestling has licensed content from Matt and Jeff Hardy’s “Broken Universe” to the WWE. The amount given and the purpose are not known at this time, but according to the report WWE is looking to devote a WWE 24 episode to the Hardys and eventually release a DVD featuring the tag team. WWE has done similar deals with ROH for CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. As we reported earlier this month, Matt Hardy reached a deal with Anthem Sports and now officially owns the rights to his “Broken Universe.”

The Hardy Boyz And Impact Wrestling Agree To Terms Over Use Of The Broken Universe

Prepare for some WONDERFUL news … because Matt and Jeff Hardy are once again able to use their characters from the Broken Universe without fear of a lawsuit.

As we previously reported, Impact President Ed Nordholm had stated the company was working to amend old contract agreements in an effort to give wrestlers more ownership over their characters — and now he’s lived up to his word.

Sources say the two sides finally came to a mutual agreement that allows the Hardy brothers to utilize their Broken Universe characters in the future. However, terms of the agreement are still unclear.

After things were made official, Matt tweeted a photo of him and Ed with a caption saying: “I am thrilled to PROCLAIM that we have ACQUIRED new ALLIES on our side of .”

Adding, “Ed Nordholm & The Owl of Anthem have revealed themselves as MAJESTIC beings who stand on the side of the LIGHT. The LIGHT always EMERGES, . Everything is COPASETIC & WONDERFUL!”

The Great Trademark Battle of 2017 is officially OVAH.

Anthem/Impact Wrestling Executive Releases Statement On Matt Hardy’s “Breakdown”

breakdown matt hardy ed nordholm statement anthen executive

Matt Hardy‘s “breakdown” on Raw this week seemed to indicate that a version of his “Broken Matt” persona is on the way and Impact Wrestling exec Ed Nordholm has released a statement about it.

Nordholm told Sports Illustrated, “We have seen the character development and will be interested to see where they take the concept.”

Ed continued, “Our new talent agreements all incorporate language that allow talent to continue to use their IMPACT persona after they leave the company. We are working with our legal team to amend our existing agreements to extend this to all of our current and former talent.”

Despite the public trademark battle with Matt this year, it seems like they’ve changed their stance.

SI also claims that the recent tease for a Broken Matt-like character isn’t false hope. The publication reports that WWE is creating a character that will not be labeled as Broken, but similar.

Matt Hardy Says He Feels ‘Woken’ Following Monday Night Raw (VIDEO)

woken matt hardy woke broken persona universe wwe video jeff

The Broken Universe may have become “woken” following Monday Night Raw … as Matt Hardy came the closest he’s been to his Broken persona in WWE during a backstage interview.

Hardy was featured in a Fallout video and said he felt “woken” after he and Jeff Hardy brawled with The Revival, using the same accent and crazy facial expressions from his days as Broken Matt.

As we previously reportedReby Hardy said in an interview with The Sheet Podcast last week that negotiations with Global Force Wrestling over the Broken gimmick had stalled … but that hasn’t stopped Matt and Jeff from using familiar phrases like “obsolete mule.”

Matt posted the video on Twitter with the caption, “, IT’S HAPPENING.

Could “Woken” Matt Hardy be the compromise that finally allows something like the Broken Universe in WWE?

Update On GFW – ‘Broken’ Universe Trademarks

All four Broken Universe-related trademarks that Global Force Wrestling filed for registration have been given an initial refusal by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), according to PWInsider.

The trademarks, originally filed by TNA Entertainment (prior to the name change/re-brand), were refused for a variety of reasons.

Matt Hardy filed the trademark for “Broken Matt Hardy” first, which the USPTO could see as confusingly similar. If GFW is going to get it, they’ll have to prove there is no conflict between the two. They’ll also need to indicate whether “Broken Matt” refers to a living person and if it does, Matt will have to sign off. Since Matt filed the trademark first, his application will hold precedence.

The trademark for “Brother Nero” was refused because Global Force Wrestling failed to indicate whether or not it was to identify a living person. If it does, they will need the consent of Jeff Hardy, whose legal middle name is Nero.

The trademark for “Broken Brilliance” was refused because GFW failed to specify whether or not the term has any significance in professional wrestling or if it is just a “term of art” in the wrestling business.

It’s likely the trademark for “Vanguard1” was refused because it is confusingly similar to a non wrestling-related trademark.

Further, all four trademarks also received initial refusal because the wordings used for identification and classification of goods and services in the initial filing were too broad. The USPTO requested additional clarification.

Matt Hardy On GFW / TNA Hypocrisy

Matt Hardy posted another “fun fact” related to his gimmicks and GWF. Hardy noted that when he was known as “Iconic” or “Big Money” Matt Hardy – both were created in ROH – TNA/GFW had him use those gimmicks when he came to the company. GFW President, Ed Nordholm, was interviewed by Sports Illustrated earlier this week to talk about the Hardys and ownership of the “Broken” gimmick.

In the latest of the Hardy’s “Broken” references – on his Instagram – Jeff Hardy posted a photo of broken glass without comment. This comes on the heels of Jeff wearing face paint – for the first time since his WWE return – at multiple WWE Live Events earlier this week. According to a report by Sports Illustrated, The Hardys attempted to buy the rights to the “Broken” gimmick, but GFW’s demands, which included 50% of all of the Hardys revenue, including Jeff’s art and music, halted talks between both sides.

Reby Hardy Angrily Responds To Jeff Jarrett’s Recent Broken Universe Agreement Claim

reby hardy matt jeff jarrett broken universe

The “Broken Universe” dispute between Jeff Jarrett and The Hardys isn’t over yet … despite the two sides reaching an agreement last week.

Yesterday in a teleconference call, Jarrett claimed that no deal had been reached with the Hardy family and that GFW still owns The Broken Universe trademark.

Reby Hardy took to Twitter to respond shortly after and said, “I’m going to have to start “clarifying” things by recording phone calls, apparently. Everything out of this loser’s mouth is BS. Why tho ?”

The wife of Matt Hardy continued, “We had agreement terms as of LAST WEEK. Included non-disparagement clause to the tune of 5k every time I tweet something about TNA… …but according to @RealJeffJarrett, there is nothing ? OKAY !”

For now, it appears that the Broken references on Raw this week will remain just that.
