Alexander Hammerstone Confirms TNA Departure, Now a Free Agent

Alexander Hammerstone is officially back on the free-agent market. The powerhouse wrestler, known as “Muscle Mountain,” announced that he is no longer under contract with TNA Wrestling, bringing an abrupt end to his short-lived run with the promotion.

Hammerstone’s final TNA match aired on this week’s episode of iMPACT! on AXS TV, where he challenged Joe Hendry for the TNA World Championship. Despite putting up a strong fight, Hammerstone ultimately fell short, with Hendry securing the win after delivering his Standing Ovation finisher. The match took place after Hammerstone had already revealed his departure, making it a symbolic send-off for his time in TNA.

Hammerstone’s TNA Run: A Promising Start That Never Took Off

Hammerstone arrived in TNA at the start of 2024 with plenty of hype, having built a strong reputation as a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion. His first major feud in the company was a hard-hitting trilogy against Josh Alexander, but after losing the decisive rubber match, his momentum stalled. He was never quite able to regain his footing in TNA’s competitive landscape.

Complicating matters was Hammerstone’s absence from television, which led to speculation about his durability. However, the powerhouse recently released a video addressing those concerns, revealing that his absence was due to a misdiagnosis by a local state commission doctor. Initially told he had a heart condition, Hammerstone later discovered that he had actually been dealing with pneumonia. The process of clearing his name and proving his fitness to compete reportedly cost him around $20,000 in medical tests.

Despite this ordeal, Hammerstone continued wrestling on the independent scene. The only legitimate injury he suffered during his TNA tenure was a knee injury, which required surgery on December 23. Remarkably, he returned to action just two months later in February.

What’s Next for Hammerstone?

With his TNA run now behind him, Hammerstone is a free agent once again. Given his blend of power, agility, and charisma, there’s no doubt that he will have plenty of options. Could WWE or AEW come calling? Or will he continue making waves on the independent circuit before finding his next long-term home?

One thing is for sure: Hammerstone isn’t done yet. Stay tuned for updates on where the “Muscle Mountain” lands next.

TNA Star Hammerstone To Undergo Surgery

Hammerstone suffered a knee injury at Turning Point and was pulled from the Final Resolution pay-per-view event.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the TNA wrestler announced that he’ll be undergoing surgery. He wrote,

“An unfortunate update. Surgery scheduled.”

TNA Star Hammerstone Appeared On WWE NXT In A Match Against Oba Femi

NXT Anonymous posted a video on Twitter of Tony D’Angelo of The Don of NXT paying off a mystery person with the intent of him taking care of Oba Femi.

On this week’s season premiere of WWE NXT, it was revealed who that was, as the NXT North American champion found himself face-to-face with one of TNA Wrestling’s biggest powerhouses, Hammerstone.

Despite the impressive challenge Hammerstone put up against NXT’s behemoth, Femi was able to keep his win-loss record in tact, winning the match with one of his devastating powerbombs.

Backstage, The D’Angelo Family was shown distraught, with Tony D’Angelo walking off in anger after seeing his hired gun taken out.

MLW Star Alex Hammerstone Set To Hit Free Agency On January 1

On October 29th, Alex Hammerstone publicly revealed that he had requested his release from MLW.

Through a Twitter video, the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion said that although MLW had informed him that they were working on his release, they had stated to the media that they would not be granting it. Hammerstone pointed out that he is not listed on MLW’s roster page, featured in the MLW Fusion intro video package, and has not received any communication regarding future bookings. He has also not been utilized for over 100 days.

He later returned to MLW last month where he laid Alex Kane and Jacob Fatu after their MLW World Title match.

In a post today on Twitter, Hammerstone noted he will officially be a free agent on January 1.

Former MLW World Champion Alex Hammerstone Reportedly Requests To Be Released

One of Major League Wrestling’s biggest stars has reportedly requested his release, but he may not be granted it anytime soon.

Fightful Select broke the news on Saturday that former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone has requested his release from the company as his five-year relationship with MLW has become “frayed.” Hammerstone is said to be under contract until the end of 2025, while MLW does not intend to grant the release. As of this writing, Hammerstone has not been informed whether his request will be granted or denied.

The 32-year-old hasn’t appeared for MLW since July when his 644-day World Championship reign ended at the hands of Alex Kane. The company believes Hammerstone’s motivation decreased after dropping the gold.

Fightful adds that Hammerstone is under a monthly guarantee that adds pay per event. Hammerstone was initially set to miss MLW’s September event due to a prior obligation, but when he became available, the funds that would’ve been allocated for him went elsewhere and he was ultimately not brought in.

Hammerstone remains under MLW contract despite not being featured on the company’s active online roster that was recently updated. The current roster boasts familiar names like Matt Cardona, Maki Itoh, Jacob Fatu, Minoru Suzuki, Davey Boy Smith Jr., KUSHIDA, Raven, and others.

Lastly, MLW obviously wants to retain Hammerstone’s services as the company has invested much time in building him as their top star. He reportedly indicated to management earlier this year that he felt burned out and he is not currently booked to appear soon.
