20140807-154342.jpg

As noted last night, WWE released Alberto Del Rio due to unprofessional conduct & an a altercation with an employee.

A source has reported to PWInsider that Del Rio allegedly slapped a WWE.com worker at this week’s TV tapings. The story being reported is that Del Rio said he was responding to something said that he felt was racist in nature.

It appears that WWE will not be commenting on the situation beyond what the announcement that was made on their website Thursday.

There is reports that Del Rio has expressed interest in leaving WWE when his contract expired. Del Rio’s contract was set to expire some time this year.

Alberto Del Rio Suffered A Concussion On Raw

WWE’s website is reporting that Alberto Del Rio suffered a concussion last night on Raw during his match with Sin Cara. It was determined he suffered the concussion as a result of a top-rope sunset flip powerbomb. Del Rio will be evaluated today & won’t return to action until he has been cleared.

Post SummerSlam Comments and Recap

The 25th Anniversary edition of Summerslam is now in the books and in my humble opinion it was a solid but unspectacular PPV. Some excellent matches and then there was the FIGHT that took place between HHH and Brock Lesnar. All in all, I believe we got our money’s worth and that’s what we deserve.

Here’s a recap of the matches and the winners. My comments will be in red and italics.

Pre-show:

Antonio Cesaro def. United States Champion Santino Marella

Cesaro was impressive and the humorous spot in the match was when Marella pulled out the 2nd Cobra from the rear of his tights and the announcer saying “That’s what you call a backup plan”.

Chris Jericho def. Dolph Ziggler

My personal favorite match of the night – not the best match of the night, but my favorite. I make no bones about being a huge Jericho fan, and both he and Dolph put it all on the line for us fans. It was good to see Jericho prove Ziggler wrong about not being able to win the big one any more. Right after the PPV ended, Zigglar touted his demand for a rematach. http://www.tout.com/m/yzzs1v

Daniel Bryan def. Kane

I had to step away during this match so I will let WWE.com give this recap: At SummerSlam, two hotheads collided as Daniel Bryan defeated Kane in a thrilling back-and-forth encounter that had both Superstars seeing red.

Intercontinental Champion The Miz def. Rey Mysterio

Great work by both superstars! Nothing more to add than you know The Miz is a great heel, because I can’t stand him!

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus def. Alberto Del Rio

Can’t really believe I’m typing this, but Sheamus stole this one from Del Rio. Rodriquez attempted to throw a shoe to Del Rio but instead, Sheamus caught it and blasted Del Rio with it. Then on the cover, the referee missed Del Rio’s leg on the rope as Sheamus pulled his leg down after the 3 count so the ref wouldn’t see it.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth def. The Prime Time Players

I will just take this quote directly from our live blog tonight:  “Truth and Kofi retain! What a cross body from Kofi on Titus from the top turn buckle to the floor just before the pin by Truth”. WWE Champion CM Punk def. John Cena, Big Show

Show pretty much dominated until both Punk and Cena applied submission holds AT THE SAME TIME on the giant. Show tapped out, but referee didn’t know what to do. Hit Raw GM AJ Lee’s music. She skips to the ring in her business suit, and after Punk gave us a plug (well not really, but he told AJ to Do The Right Thing), she said RESTART THE MATCH, and that included Big Show who had tapped out. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Big Show, but Punk quickly threw Cena out of ring and pinned Show to retain the title. Not sure Punk is going to gain that RESPECT he wanted from Cena when Cena did the work and Punk got the pin. That’s a Triple Threat Match for you though.

It should also be noted that earlier in the match Cena was about to do U Can’t C Me on Big Show when Punk broke it up and then mocked Cena by waving his own hand in front of his face while laughing at Cena.

I have no inside information, but I’m thinking Punk vs Cena tomorrow night for the main event on Raw. We’ll see if I’m right.

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar

Ok, this wasn’t a match, it was a fight. That’s what Lesnar said it would be and that is what it was. The Game held his own and when he hit his second Pedigree on Lesnar it looked like The Cerebral Assassin might pull of the stunning upset. However, Lesnar had worked over HHH’s left arm all night and when he once again locked in the submission hold that had broken both The Game’s and HBK’s arms – HHH tapped out.

Some random observations on the match: the crowd was mostly quiet during the match, which I believe was because they were in awe of how brutal this match was; for those who think this is all fake – I would ask how did Lesnar get those big whelps under each eye; The Game seemed to be apologizing and tearing up after refusing medical attention on his left arm; Michael Cole asks if this is the end of Triple H. I was a little disappointed in the crowd chanting “You tapped out” as Hunter stayed alone in the ring at the end of the PPV.

There you have it folks. As I said earlier, a solid PPV. I wish they would have used Raw GM AJ Lee a little better tonight. Her one line of restart the match was uneventful and her talent is much better than being under used that way, and besides with Big Show tapping out, why didn’t they have Cena and Punk finish one on one? I didn’t care for the end of the Sheamus vs Del Rio match either. It just didn’t feel right to me. Other than that, put another great big thank you down to the WWE for providing a great evening of Sports Entertainment!

Trevor’s Response To Ed’s Challenge: Money In The Bank Predictions

Imagine my surprise when I was notified that our very own Ed Boston had issued a challenge to me to share my predictions for tonight’s “Money In The Bank” pay-per-view! If that’s the way he wants it here we go.

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS R-TRUTH & KOFI KINGSTON VS. HUNICO & CAMACHO

Should be a great match with plenty of action. I don’t think that Truth and Kofi are ready to give up the belts just yet.

Ed’s Prediction: R-Truth and Kofi Kingston keep the WWE Tag Team belts.

Trevor’s Response: I agree with you, although things can happen especially at a big pay-per-view event.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH FOR A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CONTRACT

Damien Sandow, Tyson Kidd, Intercontinental Champion Christian, United States Champion Santino Marella, Tensai, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Sin Cara are the participants in the match that should provide everyone watching a high entertainment value. Different styles, different sized competitors, and that ladder stand in the way of all in this match.

Who gets the match against Sheamus (or whoever holds the World Championship Belt)? I wanted to pick Tensai, but I’m going with…..

Ed’s Prediction: Tyson Kidd

Trevor’s Response: Interesting choice, You have so many names involved in this match. Sin Cara has some awesome skills and has a growing following. Who doesn’t like the special spotlight he gets to use on the ring when he competes? That being said Tyson Kidd also has very good in-ring ability and many fans strongly believe he could pull off a victory – Either Tyson Kidd or Sin Cara can’t decide.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH FOR A WWE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTRACT

Cena, Big Show, Kane, Jericho – This could be a highlight reel waiting to happen. I am a big fan of each of these superstars and any one of the four could and would deserve to have that Money in the Bank Contract. Obviously Big Show has to be the favorite, and if it was one on one he would certainly be my pick. So much can happen in this match, though and I believe it’s going to come down to Cena and Jericho, my two favorite WWE Superstars.

Ed’s Prediction: Crank up “Break The Walls Down” cause it’s gonna be Chris Jericho.

Trevor’s Response: Big show is a force that needs to be dealt with. He is on a power trip and has this mentality that he can go around and do whatever he wants. That being said you have unquestionably some of the most popular names on the roster right now. This is the first time Cena has entered the Money In The Bank and he seams determand to pick up the win. Not to sure on this one but I’ll go with John Cena.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION SHEAMUS VS. ALBERTO DEL RIO

Despite the push of Del Rio and his vicious attack on Sheamus with the hood of Del Rio’s car, I’m all in on Sheamus here.

Ed’s Prediction: Sheamus

Trevor’s Response: I would also say Sheamus except for the fact I think Del Rio might have some help from his personal “ring announcer” (cough cough) something doesn’t seam right it would be to easy to assume Sheamus would pick up the win at least not as easily as people think.

WWE CHAMPION CM PUNK VS. DANIEL BRYAN

The match everyone seems to be talking about, but not for the reason most championship matches are hyped. The talk on this match is how will special guest referee and WWE Crazy Chick, AJ affect the outcome. WWE has done fantastic work building the match up for weeks now. AJ has emerged as a real Superstar. Will she help her ex – Daniel Bryan or will she please the crowd and help fan favorite Punk? This is just me thinking, will there be a third person enter the picture (say Jericho after he wins his Money in the Bank), and AJ make a heel turn right in front of our eyes.

Ed’s Prediction: Ok so after throwing out that twist, I’m gonna stay safe and say AJ does turn heel, but it’s by helping Daniel Bryan become the new WWE Champion.

Trevor’s Response: Now your talking! This is the match I personally am looking forward to the most. I love the mind games AJ has played with both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Your prediction is a good one. However I have this gut feeling that just maybe this whole thing could have been a big game thought up by Daniel Bryan to mess with CM Punks head. I think AJ is a lot smarter then it looks and to quote Jerry The King Lawler there is “a method to her madness”. I just can’t figure out what exactly. Do I think she’s going to be a fair referee either way? NO NO NO she will screw someone out of a victory for sure. The quesion is who? – Anwser I can’t predict a winner for sure. All eyes will be on AJ she wins either way.

Ed’s Money In The Bank Predictions

I’m gonna throw down against my partner Trevor and challenge him to make his predictions for tonight’s WWE Money in the Bank Pay-per-View. We will see then who comes out on top with these 5 predictions and who will be able to talk “SMACK” after it’s over.

SDCC 2012: Mattel panel taken over by Del Rio

BY ALEX GIANNINI

SAN DIEGO – The Mattel panel at Comic-Con International started innocently enough, with toy designers giving WWE Universe members insight into the latest action figure lines and providing those in attendance with sneak peeks at upcoming products.

Featuring appearances by WWE Champion CM Punk, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Zack Ryder, the panel was highly anticipated, and the packed room enjoyed the presentation. When Punk and Ryder departed for other Comic-Con events, The Great White stuck around to answer questions from the audience. But no one could have guessed how the panel would end. Alberto Del Rio – who will challenge Sheamus for his World Heavyweight Title Sunday at Money in the Bank – appeared out of nowhere, crashing the party and raising the tension levels throughout the hall.
