AEW’s Jeff Jarrett Discusses His Resurgence In Pro Wrestling

AEW star Jeff Jarrett has talked about his career revival and how he feels heading into AEW’s huge All In pay-per-view later this month.

The WWE Hall of Famer, during a recent interview with “Cultaholic Wrestling,” said that the last year for him in pro wrestling has been surreal.

“Absolutely,” said Jarrett when asked if he was surprised by his career resurgence. “At this stage of my career — and I’ve had some of the highest of highs and some of the lowest of lows — but you kind of look at the last year, and a little prior to that, from Game Changer Wrestling to the NWA, to WWE SummerSlam in my hometown at the stadium, and then you fast forward, here talking about Wembley 100, AEW All In, it is surreal. I do not … I am stopping and smelling the roses. I don’t take anything for granted.”

Jarrett admitted that he would’ve been grateful if AEW had sold 40,000 tickets for the All In show at Wembley Stadium, but is elated by the huge ticket sales, which has crossed 80,000.

The veteran star has had an interesting last 12 months in the pro wrestling business. The 56-year-old, who continues to wrestle over 35 years after making his pro wrestling debut, was a special guest referee in The Usos’ match against the Street Profits at last year’s SummerSlam. The event was held at the Nissan Stadium in Jarrett’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Jarrett was released once again by WWE in August 2022, following which he wrestled in WrestleCade, GCW, and was also in Ric Flair’s final match, where he teamed up with Jay Lethal to face Flair and Andrade.

The Hall of Famer then signed with AEW in November last year, forming a faction that included Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh. At the time of writing, he hasn’t been added to the All In card, but a wrestler with the star power of Jarrett could very well be on the card for such a historic show.

The Young Bucks – ‘Blood & Guts Match Was Rushed’

On a recent edition of the “Swerve City Podcast,” Nick Jackson stated that the ending for the Blood & Guts match on AEW Dynamite last month was indeed rushed.

Nick was frustrated with having to finish the main event early. He said,

“There are some moments, I’ll be honest, I want to say it was Blood & Guts, we had to take the match home quick. I look at Matt and Hangman, “Dangit! That wasn’t the best match. I wanted it to be the best match.’ Matt is like, ‘are we all healthy? Can we walk?’ ‘Yeah. Oh, you’re right.’ Even I get lost sometimes in the moment, ‘I wanted it to go this way, but I’m healthy, whatever.’ That was in the ring, not backstage. The bell rang, we’re raising our hands, and I’m like, ‘Dangit.’”

Matt Jackson noted they watched the match back later and “were popping for everything. At the end of the hour, we’re like, ‘that was friggin’ great.’”

Nick said, Yeah. I was like, ‘what was I mad about?‘”

Bully Ray – ‘AEW Shouldn’t Be Announcing Matches For All In 2023’

Fans should go into the much-anticipated AEW All In 2023 pay-per-view event without an idea as to what matches are taking place, according to Bully Ray.

The August 27th show will be AEW’s most-attended event in the promotion’s history, as well as the company’s first event outside of North America.

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray shared why he feels fans should go into the event totally blind. He said,

You’ve already put 77,000 people in the house. Every match, every entrance becomes a surprise. To me, you’re sitting on the edge of your seat. It’s almost like a Royal Rumble over an entire show. “

I think this is the show where people at home don’t need to know anything. They’re gonna buy it no matter what, otherwise they’ll suffer from FOMO. I think the excitement of not knowing anything draws me in more.”

Despite Ray’s suggestion, this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw the main event of All In 2023 be announced – AEW World Champion MJF vs. Adam Cole for the title.

The Elite Reportedly Voted To Decide Whether They’d Stay In AEW Or Join WWE

After a lengthy period of negotiations, it was announced yesterday that The Elite had signed new contracts with All Elite Wrestling, ensuring Tony Khan won’t have to think of another fitting adjective that starts with “E” — at least not for another few years.

On the latest “Wrestling Observer Radio,” journalist Dave Meltzer stated that all four members agreed they would stick together, leaving their destination up to a majority vote. Opinions, and votes, amongst the group reportedly changed over the course of negotiations, but all four eventually agreed to stay with AEW.

Additionally, Meltzer said he had heard about four-year deals being signed by all four, but neither he nor co-host Bryan Alvarez could confirm that number. The nature of AEW’s schedule, as opposed to the more grueling schedule of WWE, was reportedly the critical factor for the four men in their decision to stay. While he wasn’t sure of the exact day the contracts were signed, Meltzer believes the deals were put together several weeks ago.

Following the announcement of their new contracts, all four members of The Elite appeared on “AEW Dynamite” last night. Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks faced Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Satnam Singh in a trios match. Following the match, “Hangman” Adam Page, along with Matt and Jeff Hardy, came to the aid of Omega and the Jackson brothers.

With less than four weeks until AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, possible match-ups for the members of The Elite are still up in the air. The group recently concluded a lengthy feud against the Blackpool Combat Club, and last night’s episode didn’t quite seem to set up what’s next for the faction. However, it was teased that fans can expect to see The Elite on “AEW Collision” soon in addition to “Dynamite.”

Rob Van Dam Makes AEW Debut On Dynamite

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has arrived in All Elite Wrestling.

During Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the ECW legend came out to confront Jack Perry during the latter’s face-off with Jerry Lynn.

While Lynn said there was no way he would be able to be cleared to face Perry, he brought out his old friend in “The Whole F’n Show” Rob Van Dam.

Perry wound up retreating through the crowd as Lynn and RVD hugged.

Later in a backstage interview segment RVD issued a challenge to Perry for a FTW Title match.

It was announced that next week on Dynamite, RVD will face Perry for the FTW title in a FTW Rules Match.
