Sting Announces Impending Retirement, Will Wrestle Last Match At AEW Revolution 2024

Current AEW star, WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW World Heavyweight Champion addressed the future of his career on Wednesday’s episode of “AEW Dynamite” in Rosenburg, TX. Sting pointed out that he wrestled his first AEW match at AEW Revolution 2021 and that announced that his retirement match would take place at AEW Revolution 2024. There is no word on when or where AEW Revolution 2024 is set to take place yet.

Sting mentioned at his WWE Hall of Fame induction that “the only thing that’s for sure is that nothing is for sure,” hinting that his original retirement in 2015 wasn’t permanent, but on Wednesday Sting made himself clear saying “the only thing’s that’s for sure” is that the Revolution 2024 match will be his final match. Sting had initially retired after suffering a neck injury at WWE Night of Champions 2015, where he was facing WWE Champion Seth Rollins in the main event. During Dynamite, Sting mentioned that he wasn’t quite satisfied with that retirement and that his AEW tenure helped put a cap on his 30+ years in professional wrestling.

As soon as the bell rings Toni Storm jumps Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter as they beat down the originals. However, Soho finally chooses a side and she teams with the originals, sending them out of the ring. She gets respect from the champion but then she turns and Soho takes both women down. Storm attacks a cameraman and smashes the camera while Soho spray paints the women and officially joins Saraya’s group.

TEXAS DEATHMATCH:
“Hangman” Adam Page defeated Jon Moxley by submission

Wardlow defeated Samoa Joe (c) by submission to become new TNT Champion

The Gunns celebrate their win in the ring before being interviewed by Renee Paquette. They take a moment to brag, asking the crowd “who’s an Ass Boy now!?” They talk about the teams they have beaten, declaring themselves the best tag team in the world…before FTR’s music hits as they hit the stage, rushing down the ring to go after the champs! This ends with a spike piledriver on Colten, followed by a Big Rig (Shatter Machine) on Austin!

AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – 60-MINUTE IRON MAN MATCH:
MJF (c) defeated. Bryan Danielson 4-3

Danielson locks in another single-leg crab and MJF’s ring is taken from him by the official. He grabs the ropes but also taps at the same time so Danielson thinks he has won. Danielson then looks over the apron but he gets smashed in the head with the oxygen tank and then MJF locks in the Lebell Lock, and despite Danielson fighting against it, he eventually taps.

MJF then calls for Wardlow, who appears, but he forgets the ring. Punk then pulls him and he hits a GTS as MJF falls back to the thumbtacks.

Wardlow then remembers where the ring was, he pulls it out and leaves it in the ring…for CM Punk! MJF spits at CM Punk in a final act of defiance, but he smashes him in the face with the ring, and this one is over.

– After the match the two men continue brawling…but William Regal is here!!! He gets a huge pop as Regal gets in the ring and separates them both. Regal then slaps Moxley in the face as Bryan applauds him. However, he eats a slap as well! He then brings the two men together and tells them to shake hands, which they do.

WATCH: Jon Moxley Comforts Crowd After Revolution Pyro Mishap

Jon Moxley joked with the Daily’s Place crowd following the disappointing conclusion of AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view.

In case you missed it, the closing moments of AEW Revolution were hindered by a dud explosion.

Moxley had just been defeated by Kenny Omega in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. Following his win, Omega and his cronies, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson, continued to beat Mox down in an attempt to incapacitate him. Their goal was to make sure he couldn’t leave the ring before it exploded.

Omega, Gallows, and Anderson left the ring before the clock reached zero, but Eddie Kingston ran out to assist Moxley. Kingston threw himself on Mox, but when the explosion came, it was nothing but a few pops and some lame sparklers.

Clearly something went wrong, and a thoroughly entertaining pay-per-view ended with a wet fart.

The crowd booed, and when the show went off the air, Mox grabbed a mc and joked about the whole thing.

Big Signing Revealed At AEW Revolution – Christian Cage

At last night’s AEW Revolution, it was revealed Christian Cage has signed with AEW. Cage made his way out to the ring with his contract, signed it, and left the contract in the ring.

He then revealed his new shirt, “Out. Work. Everyone.”

Cage had worked this year’s WWE Royal Rumble earlier this year, his first official match since 2014.

Thunder Rosa runs out for the save.

Sting and AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin defeated FTW Champion Brian Cage and Ricky Starks with Taz

AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (EXPLODING BARBED WIRE DEATHMATCH)

– Post-match, Omega and Good Brothers beat up Moxley some more and handcuff him. Callis goes to the ring and gives them some directions. Omega yells “this is what you wanted!” while Karl and Doc swing away on Moxley. Moxley is handcuffed and beaten up some more until the time counts down. Omega and The Good Brothers head to the stage to leave Moxley alone. Eddie Kingston runs out to try and help Moxley. He couldn’t get him out in time and just covers him as the lamest explosion goes off. Pyro went off at the ring posts, at the corners of the ring, and then from the floor. Live crowd was not enthused with that climax. Kingston just lays over Moxley as the medical staff make their way into the ring to check on them.

AEW Confirms Sting Will Compete In A Street Fight At Revolution

All Elite Wrestling has officially confirmed that Sting will team up with Darby Allin to take on Team Taz in a Street Fight at Revolution

In case you missed it, Team Taz laid down a challenge to “The Icon” and Darby on this week’s edition of Dynamite.

“You wanna take it to the streets? Balls in your court, bitches,” Taz said in a backstage promo aimed at Sting and the TNT Champion, who were in the ring.

“Be careful what you wish for,” Darby replied, before leaving with the ring alongside the WWE Hall of Famer.

The match was officially confirmed by AEW on social media on Thursday. It will be Darby Allin and Sting vs. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Street Fight at Revolution February 27.

This will be Sting’s first match since retiring due to injury following a match with Seth Rollins in September of 2015.
