AJ Styles Sitdown Interview With Michael Cole

As seen below, this week’s sitdown interview with Michael Cole features AJ Styles. Below are highlights:

* Cole asks Styles about the past three months since he debuted in WWE at the Royal Rumble. Styles says no one expected this to happen and for it to happen this fast is unbelievable. Debuting at the Rumble, beating Chris Jericho on RAW, debuting at Madison Square Garden, then WrestleMania 32. Styles asks if it gets much better than that and says it does because now he’s the #1 contender to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns.

* Cole says AJ wanted to have his WrestleMania moment and did in Dallas, asking if it was everything he expected. Styles says it was everything and more. To see the sea of people was indescribable. Styles says he’s wrestled all over the world and nothing can compare to WrestleMania.

* Cole mentions how Jericho had Styles’ number at WrestleMania but he bounced back on RAW and became the #1 contender. Styles says the great thing about losing is that you learn to hate it. Styles says that won’t be the last time he loses but he did beat Jericho, along with Cesaro and Kevin Owens, the next night. Styles says it was emotional for him and admits his eyes were watering up. He gets emotional again when talking about fans chanting “you deserve it” at him.

* Cole says Styles earned it and now he’s going to face the champion. Cole says we’ve never seen Styles face someone with the size and power of Reigns. Styles says there’s no doubt he can handle Reigns, he’s handled guys as big as Reigns outside of WWE before. He says there’s no one like Reigns and that’s kind of scary, but that’s a good thing. Styles says you have to make everything count in the ring with a guy like Reigns and he’s prepared for that. Styles says he knows Reigns has a chip on his shoulder but his job is to knock that chip off.

UFC Announces Ultimate Fighter Season For Championship Title Shot

Source: WrestlingINC

The UFC has officially announced season 24 of their reality show The Ultimate Fighter. This time, the company is pulling out some stops in order to regain some of the audience the show has lost.

Per a press released issued to us Tuesday, the show will hold a 16-man flyweight tournament in order to determine a number one contender for the 125-pound championship. The winner will get a title shot on the finale in December.

This format isn’t unheard of, as Matt Serra won season four on his way to earning a championship fight. Serra would go on to score one of the biggest upsets in MMA history by defeating Georges St-Pierre for the championship.

Season 20 was actually contested for a championship, with Carla Esparza becoming the first ever UFC Strawweight Champion in 2014.

Demetrious “Mighty” Mouse Johnson is the UFC’s dominant Flyweight Champion, and seems to be running out of contenders. He faces Olympian Henry Cejudo later this month at UFC 197, but has expressed his desire to break Anderson Silva’s consecutive title defense record of 10. Johnson is currently sitting at 7.

Tryouts will take place on April 25 in Las Vegas at Palace Station, with the season set for filming in June, and the broadcast premiere on August 31 on Fox Sports 1.

The Leaf Chronicle in Tennessee reports that Anthony Gregory Mayweather, known to wrestling fans as former TNA star Crimson, was arrested and charged with domestic assault outside of a Clarksville, TN hotel early Sunday morning. He’s accused of headbutting his wife.

According to an arrest warrant, police were called to a domestic assault outside of the Mid Town Inn on Kraft Street at 1:33am after someone called 911 and said a man headbutted a woman. When police arrived, the woman told them everything was fine as she attempted to pull her husband, Crimson, away from police. The woman, Heather Mayweather had blood coming from her nose and lip but told police that she fell down and nothing physical happened between them.

Crimson also said nothing physical happened but police said he was very defensive about officers interviewing his wife. A security guard from a nearby restaurant told officers he witnessed Crimson headbutt Heather in her face.

The former TNA star was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on $2,500 bond. His wife was also arrested and charged with public intoxication. Police said she had slurred speech and was uneasy on her feet. She was booked on a $439 bond.

Backstage Talk On John Cena’s WWE Status After Returning To Help The Rock At WrestleMania 32

Source: WrestlingINC

WrestlingINC noted over WrestleMania 32 Weekend how John Cena told Complex Magazine that he is cleared to return to the ring. Cena made his return to TV at WrestleMania, helping The Rock fight off The Wyatt Family.

Cena did not appear on last night’s RAW and according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Cena may not really be cleared to return to the ring and wrestle. Obviously he was good enough to do the angle with The Wyatt Family but talk is that he’s not ready to return full time.

Furthermore, we’ve heard rumors that Cena may not be back in action until mid-May or June. This goes with late March report from The Wrestling Observer that said Cena was expected to be out out until July.
