WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross spoke with FOX Sports after making his WWE return at WrestleMania 33 last night to call Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker. Ross confirmed that he has signed with WWE for 2 years. Ross commented on the return and how his late wife Jan wanted to be there:
“I’m not going to tell you that I didn’t have those bald eagle-sized butterflies, but that’s to be expected. To be on the card at WrestleMania is not a right. It’s really, indeed, a privilege, and I was very happy that WWE reached out and wanted to, as they say, in their own words, bring me home. That conversation began months ago, and my wife was so excited about the prospects and about the potential of us coming to WrestleMania. She wanted to get dressed up and walk the red carpet at the Hall of Fame, and she wanted to hear me get introduced and to see my walk out and call a match. That was her dream, and I shared that dream, which is one of the reasons I was so willing to come here.”
Ross also commented on the new deal, which was just signed on Friday:
“It has a specific number of dates that I’m obligated to work, which I think is good for me. So look at it this way: I got my jersey back. I got brought back to my home team, and my opportunities back in WWE, I’m sure, will be multi-fold. They’ve got a lot of things that I can contribute (to), and I’ve been so blessed in the business that I’ve done so many different things. I’ve been an administrator and a syndicator, a marketing rep, a VP of broadcasting, a head of talent relations. But the fun part is what I did tonight.
“I hope to have more ‘fun part’ assignments in the future, but I’ve got my jersey back. So if the team needs me to play, to work more than they anticipated because they need it, I’m in.”
Ross also discussed the passing of his wife Jan, his “Ringside” shows and more in the full interview.
Wrestling Inc. reader Jesse Ruiz noted that with The Hardys returning to WWE and winning the RAW Tag Team Championship, Jeff Hardy earned his first ever victory at Wrestlemania. Hardy had been 0-5 at the event before Sunday.
The victory was also the The Hardy Boyz first victory as a team at Wrestlemania, and it was their first tag team match at Wrestlemania that didn’t involve the Dudleyz. It was also their first involvement in a match at Wrestlemania involving ladders (TLC and Ladder match; including Money in the Bank) that didn’t involve Edge or Christian.
– Speaking of the Hardys, the YouTube video of their return above already has more than 4 million views.
The WrestleMania 33 stage caught fire during The Undertaker’s grand exit following his loss to Roman Reigns in last night’s main event. You can see a few photos and videos of the blaze from inside Camping World Stadium below.
The video shows production workers rushing out with a fire extinguisher to try and control the blaze while black smoked filled the air. The fire did not draw much attention as it almost blended in with the spectacle of what appeared to be The Undertaker’s farewell. We’ve heard no reports of injuries related to the fire.
Some of the WWE NXT Superstars who suffered losses at “Takeover: Orlando” on Saturday night are set for main roster call-ups soon, according to Wrestling Observer Radio.
Word is that Shinsuke Nakamura, Tye Dillinger and Andrade “Cien” Almas are coming to the main roster soon. Dave Meltzer speculated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Dash and Dawson of The Revival may be called up as well. No word yet on what brand these Superstars might end up on.
No word yet on Elias Samson coming to the main roster but it appears his call-up may be delayed. It was believed that Samson was headed to the main roster after losing the “Loser Leaves NXT” match to Kassius Ohno last week but Dave Meltzer indicated other wise on Observer Radio. The plan was for Samson to come to the main roster as recent as January of this year.
The new RAW Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz after making their return to WWE at WrestleMania 33 last night. Jeff says they are back home and he left in 2009 but to come back on such a big night and win the titles is unbelievable. Jeff is proud of himself, his brother, their families and proud to be home. Matt says he can’t explain how wonderful it is to return to their home on the biggest WrestleMania in history, for the biggest company in history. While The Hardys are not using their most recent gimmicks, Matt keeps making references to his “Broken” character and says the best part of the evening was that they “deleted!” the reign of The Club.
Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 tonight. It was Taker’s second-ever loss at the event.
After the match was over, Taker apparently retired as he wore his hat and coat for one last time before placing them in the middle of the ring with his ring gloves. Taker then kissed his wife, Michelle McCool, as he headed to the back. Taker raised his arm in the middle of the ramp, and the show ended with Taker’s gong playing.

As noted, the Hardys are expected to be signing with WWE imminently. They dropped the ROH Tag Team Championship to the Young Bucks at last night’s ROH Supercard Of Honor XI event. After the match, Jeff Hardy said that there’s only one thing left to do, singing that they’ll “fade away and classify ourselves as obsolete” from ROH.
The Hardys are holding a Broken Tailgate party today in Orlando about 1.6 miles from Camping World Stadium, the site of tonight’s WrestleMania 33 event. A Twitter user posted the video below of a WWE vehicle in front of the party. The party is scheduled to go until 6pm ET, an hour before the WrestleMania 33 main card begins.
