Reby Hardy On If They Are Willing To Face Anthem In Court, If She Thinks An Agreement Will Be Made

Sports Illustrated has an interview with Reby Hardy regarding the ongoing dispute between the Hardys and Anthem Sports over the “Broken” intellectual property. Below are a couple of highlights:

Are the Hardys willing to go to court to pursue the IP? Are you optimistic of a judge or jury ruling in your favor?

“Going to the court is not like going to the grocery store. There is a lot of money involved in a legal case, which is another reason why Anthem is dragging this out as long as they can. Jeff Jarrett said, “Just keep dragging it out, they’ll get tired of spending money.” We would rather settle this like civil human beings, which is what we have tried to do for months and months.

“There are so many things that, if we choose to go to court, we can also add into the case. Senor Benjamin, who is my father, never signed a release to have his image be marketed. Technically, they should not have been able to air his footage. They do not have a release for my son, Maxel, who had no written documents saying he could be on set at Universal Studios, which could jeopardize their relationship with the place where they film on a monthly basis. There is also the fact that I created—shot, directed, and edited—so much footage that I never gave them a release to use, either.”

Anthem also denies that it ever asked for a significant percent of Hardy merchandise, including Jeff Hardy’s art work and music, as well as stated that the contracts offered to Matt and Jeff were almost close to equal in terms of pay. Is the company being truthful, and where do we go from here?

“We literally have those documents in email form from Ed Nordholm.

“In one of the contracts, Anthem snuck in a percentage the company would be owed from any income from ShopMattHardy.com and JeffHardyBrand.com. The fact that they would feel entitled to that is a joke. Jeff Hardy’s site is literally his paintings and music; it has nothing to do with wrestling and is an artistic venture. Why are they entitled to any of that? To slide that into the contract was a real shady move, and we have the documents to prove it.

“Jeff Jarrett’s plan was to give Jeff Hardy all the money, and he actually said to pay Matt as little as possible because he believed Matt could not go anywhere without Jeff Hardy. I had reservations about WWE for a long time, but I forgot all of my reservations and our loyalty to the TNA brand after I learned that.

“F— these guys, to put it bluntly. After Matt financed his own shoots and put hours and hours of his own time writing the shows? F— these guys. We didn’t have any scripts. They’re claiming IP, they’re claiming this is their character and development, but we never had one script or one shoot sheet. That was all Matt pouring himself into the character and dedicating himself to it.

“The amount of time and effort he put into this made it his brainchild, which is why this is more of a personal matter than business. It was all our creation, and we can easily prove that it was all us, and it’s nothing but ego on their end. Matt refused to re-sign, they really believed that he could not go anywhere else, and we called them out on their bluff. Ed Nordholm actually told Jeff Hardy’s attorney, “Tell them to go to WWE.” Is that the way you negotiate? To try to get someone to sign a s— contract to work at your s— company for s— money? When it comes down to it, this comes down to their ego versus all of the time, effort, and passion we have put into this project and gimmick.

“This is a personal investment vs. ego. I feel like there will never be an agreement without going to court.”

Reby also discussed Anthem thinking they own the “Broken” gimmick, Anthem saying that Matt asked for an extra $100,000 during contract negotiations and more. You can read the full interview by clicking here.

Johnny Mundo Calls Out Vampiro Over Taya/AAA Situation, Vampiro Responds

It was reported on Monday Sexy Star won the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship at last night’s AAA television taping in Monterrey. Former champion Taya Valkyrie was stripped of the title, which she won in a no DQ match back in April, because “she used a choke during her No-DQ match with Ayako Hamada.” Vampiro told the crowd that Taya didn’t show up and was being stripped of the title; she was never scheduled to appear. The only reason they got her tile back was because Johnny Mundo brought it with him for a photo shoot, which was AAA’s way of getting the belt back to strip Taya.

After Taya quit AAA over social media, Vampiro (via WrestleInc) posted the following on Twitter…

Probably shouldn’t do this as I don’t give a f–k, but a mark is a mark, regardless of its gender! It’s called building a story and a angle and the day that talent dictates what happens in any company, then the company is in trouble. There are hundreds of people involved in planning stories ,programming events in advance, and , for me to even waste time addressing this to you, is crazy, as, I have a responsibility to do the best I can with what I have in front of me. Running a company in three continents is extremely complicated. Now , as far as taya is concerned, I chose not to say anything as I have been around long enough to see to many young talents close doors because they lose touch with reality. I support her and I think she is incredible. Her opinions are hers and hers alone. As far as you go, they say you do what I have done, or go through what I have gone through, and can do a better job than me , I will respect you. For now, I apologize , but to me , you’re a person who made me take 5 mins out of my day to answer your text, out of respect for your ignorance. Other than that, have a good day!

Mundo, who is engaged to Taya, then posted the following on Twitter…

Vampiro then took to Facebook (via WrestleInc) and posted the below message, which has now been deleted…

My response to Johnny mundo, taya , and fans in general.
This, is The perfect case of something that can turn into something very bad.

When I took the job of talent relations , producing, and writing….

I knew for a fact that I would have to have thick skin because no matter what you do or how you do it, when you work in the entertainment industry, or any industry for that matter and are in a position of influence, and have responsibilities, no matter what and no matter way, there will always be somebody who will not like you.

I have also learned that if you are a public person there will be more people who hate you then like you, and you will be destroyed in public via social media and every other outlet available , as no matter what, even if you were trying to do the best you can, somebody will be offended.

I get that and it’s all good, I’m OK with it, and I think that’s why I continue to grow as a person because I can understand that sooner or later I will make someone angry.

So I prefer to be honest, and that is I am a human being and they do make mistakes and by no means do I think I’m perfect.
I am only learning to do this job day by day, and I am trying my hardest.

I think that Taya is incredible, and she is a great performer, and has so much more in front of her .

I do think that It was completely irresponsible and how I went about the situation with her and for that I apologize.

As far as Johnny goes, I have nothing but respect for him and I think that he is one of the best pro wrestlers in the world today, and certainly one of the best ever of his generation.

I am just a guy who is trying his hardest to do his job, I do not apologize for who I am, but I do apologize if I have offended anyone and I do make professional mistakes.

In saying that I do not do anything on my own, I always run things by my superiors as that is the way things are supposed to be done, but I do strongly stand by what I am trying to transmit on television .

I am certain that I cannot make everybody happy all the time, and I do realize that I am just a passenger on this journey, and sooner or later I will be out of style and somebody will take my place but in the meantime I’m going to continue to try to do my best, and I am certainly not getting involved in a Twitter fued, work, or no work.

I certainly hope this clears up a few things, they’re a great story lines in great angles coming up, and it’s not my fault if talent is unhappy with me, but I am extending my hand in friendship and asking for forgiveness for whatever I have done wrong, and I would love to have a discussion with anybody who has been offended by me, because I can guarantee you that I did not do it intentionally.

This is the last I will comment on this issue, and I hope it’s sufficient.

Thanks very much and have a great evening.

Paige’s Family’s Promotion Strips Alberto El Patron Of Their Title, Doesn’t Mention Him In Statement

Alberto El Patron has been stripped of the WAW Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship. The title is the top belt of the World Association of Wrestling, which is owned by Ricky Knight, the real-life father of El Patron’s girlfriend Paige.

Below is the official statement regarding the title:

The WAW Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship has been declared vacant at last night’s Academy Show in Costessey, following a unanimous decision by the WAW Championship Committee. The WAWCC’s decision was announced by Zak Knight but no information was revealed regarding the crowning of a new champion. Since the announcement several individuals have announced their desire to compete for the title. Both European Heavyweight Champion Robin Lekime and British Heavyweight Champion Aaron Sharp have already revealed their desire to add more gold to their repertoire, as well as former World Heavyweight Champion Brad Slayer and former European Heavyweight Champion King Kendo. With four of WAW’s top competitors already eyeing up the most prestigious title will anyone else step forward in the hope of gaining public support?A 32 man tournament has been announced to determine a new Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion over the course of the rest of 2017 with the final taking place at Epic Studios, Norwich in December. The entrants into this tournament will be deliberated by the WAWCC over the coming weeks before brackets are announced.

It’s of note that Alberto isn’t even mentioned in the statement. This comes more than a week after an incident between El Patron and Paige at the Orlando International Airport.

Paige’s brother, Zak, stated on Facebook he’s worried about his sister and accused El Patron of domestic battery. El Patron is currently suspended indefinitely from Global Force Wrestling.

While no criminal charges have been filed, Alberto El Patron was detained by police just over one week ago at the Orlando International Airport. There have been varying accounts of what happened but recordings released by TMZ seem to indicate some type of domestic incident.

A witness told Heavy.com that the couple were arguing on the airport tram system, with Paige screaming at El Patron that he had been doing cocaine for “two days straight” and she called him abusive. There were also claims El Patron smelled like alcohol.

Rey Mysterio Negotiating Return To WWE, Also In Talks With GFW

Rey Mysterio is currently negotiating with WWE and Global Force Wrestling, according to Sports Illustrated.

Mysterio is under contract with Lucha Underground through the end of season three, which will air in September. He’ll be a free agent after that but has a 90-day non-compete agreement attached to his deal.

WWE is still searching for a big Latino star after failing to replace Mysterio in the first place. GFW had been pushing Alberto El Patron, who has had a lot of negative press from his tumultuous relationship with Paige. The current GFW World Heavyweight Champion is suspended indefinitely following a domestic dispute with Paige at the Orlando airport last week.

Mysterio, 42, left WWE in February 2015 but has been open to the idea of returning for over a year. His son, Dominick, is looking to follow in his father’s footsteps so Mysterio could opt to return to WWE in hopes that it helps his son’s future.

Lucha Underground could look to retain Mysterio but will likely have a difficult time out-biding WWE should they decide they want to bring him back. They have also not announced plans for a fourth season.

Backstage News On Why WWE Talking Smack Was Cancelled

Image result for talking smack

Despite reports of Talking Smack being cancelled due to low viewership, according to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the reason for the weekly format coming to an end was due to Vince McMahon. The unscripted style of the show played a part as Vince was not pleased with the show and felt it wasn’t best for the company’s interests.

While still very connected to his TV shows, Vince has been reportedly less physically present at TVs, as of late. He was present last week and made the decision to cut the weekly format, and, per McMahon, eventually end it altogether.

Two of the show’s hosts, Daniel Bryan and Renee Young, were apparently unaware of the abrupt change, each sounding off on Twitter. On Friday, WWE put out a statement saying:

“We continuously review WWE Network‘s programming line-up based on a variety of factors, including viewership and subscriber research. Talking Smack and Raw Talk will air following pay-per-view events, and Tuesday will continue to feature 205 Live.”
