Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials are reportedly trying to find out when the contracts of a few top TNA stars expire. They are interested in a few TNA stars but only for the NXT brand, at least for now.
It was noted before that WWE changed their mind and now are interested in AJ Styles. Nothing is expected to happen any time soon because Styles is under contract to New Japan Pro Wrestling until the end of the year. Styles said on Inside The Ropes radio show yesterday that it’s only a matter of time before he shows up in Global Force Wrestling. Style said right now his schedule is so full that’s it’s hard to find time to fit GFW in.
If any of you follow our site closely you know that I’m one that advocates for women in the wrestling business. I firmly believe we are in a time where females are changing the perception of what it means to be a female in a male dominated business.
Ronda Rousey is doing it in MMA and now Sexy Star is doing it in professional wrestling. Sexy star is a Wrestler/Luchador who competes for the promotion Lucha Underground.
Now why is she the example of what it is to be a game changer in professional wrestling you ask? Why not Sasha Banks or Gail Kim or Santana Garret?? Trust me this isn’t a knock to any of them because I respect them all. They’ve all done some amazing things in the sport of professional wrestling, them and countless others.
Sexy star however is doing something we haven’t seen since the attitude era in WWE, even then it wasn’t done with this much intensity. Numerous times now sexy star has wrestled with men, doing so again this week in a grueling submission match against Pentagon. The match itself was epic. Both parties involved had some pretty amazing spots but the star of the show (no pun intended) was definitely Sexy Star. Let me tell you that girl sure can take a bump.
She went out there and proved that a woman can hang with the guys and look awesome doing it. Pentagon didn’t go easy on her either. He treated her just like he would have any of his opponents. Gender was thrown out the window in this match. I know the topic of man vs woman makes a lot of people uncomfortable but it shouldn’t I mean you watch action and horror movies don’t you? We see stuff like that in them all the time, what makes this any different?
The fact of the matter is both Pentogon and Sexy Star are trained professionals and they know how to take care of one another, sure there is a chance of injury but that can be said for every sport not just professional wrestling.
People need to wake up and start getting with the program. Women are just as bad ass as any male athlete. Hell sometimes if not most of the time women do it better. They are capable of putting on a show and delivering night after night.
Women continue to break down doors every day. Professional wrestling was once a mans world but is quickly being taken over by the ladies. We are experiencing a paradigm shift, a movement if you will and Sexy Star is the poster girl of that movement.
So I’ll end it with this….. Are you ready for the change? Because it’s happening. Don’t get left behind.
TNA Wrestling provided an update on their website about Mickie James following the controversial storyline from Wednesday night’s episode of Impact Wrestling, where James Storm pushed Mickie James onto the train tracks. Many suggested that Mickie had been killed off and it go a lot of negative attention online including Jim Ross and TAZ. Below is a video of the the angle form Wednesday’s Impact:
TNA issued the following statement:
“On Impact this past week Mickie James thought she was coming to Nashville to meet with Country Music Executives, to further her already amazing music career. The “meetings” were set up by Mickie’s friend, the leader of The Revolution, James Storm and all seemed to be on the up and up.
That is until Mickie James got to Nashville, Storm was there to greet her and told Mickie the real reason he invited her to Music City, USA and it had nothing to do with music. Storm revealed he wanted Mickie to join The Revolution, to which Mickie was not only taken aback, but wanted nothing to do with joining The Revolution.
Then Storm walked Mickie James to the train station ant that is where Storm, for whatever his reasons are, knocked Mickie James onto the tracks. While Storm’s actions are despicable and boderline criminal, we have reached out to Mickie James and have not yet gotten comment. We also reached out to security at The Nashville Star Train Station who were first on the scene after James Storm left and they were able to tell us that Mickie briefly blacked out and showed symptoms of a concussion. Mickie was tested and passed all concussion field tests. Mickie was emotionally disturbed following the events.
We will do our best to keep everyone up to date and we wish Mickie a very speedy recovery. We will be following up with Mickie James to see if she plans on filing criminal charges with Nashville PD.”
Here is what Jim Ross had to say about the storyline on his blog:
“I’m a big fan of both Mickie James, who was on our talent roster when I was in WWE, and James Storm whose work I’ve always enjoyed a great deal but the creative that they were provided Wednesday night regarding the train was undesirable and completely unrealistic and had me feeling embarrassed for two, very good talents. I do like the direction of Storm becoming a deranged character with scary tenacities but the train business did that few favors.”
The Jim Ross @JRsBBQ Twiiter account tweeted the following:
I've been a part of many ridiculous pro wrestling story lines & I liked much more about @IMPACTWRESTLING than otherwise. Train=Silly…IMO
Paragon Pro Wrestling’s official Twitter account confirmed to me that PPW is scheduled to debut on Pop TV on June 20th. I don’t know yet what time that day the show will air.
PPW announced on Twitter that former TNA Star Wes Brisco will be at their TV taping on June 9th at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas.
PWTorch.com reports that WWE officials were so impressed with Samoa Joe and his merchandise sales that Vince McMahon and Triple H personally pushed for him to sign a full-time WWE contact. PWInsider has confirmed that Joe has signed a full-time deal and that’s why he was at RAW last night, defeating Tyson Kidd in a match before the start of RAW.
The fact that Joe’s appearances for Ring of Honor will now air on national cable TV also played into the decision for WWE to sign him to a full-time deal.
Joe’s current NXT deal reportedly has a clause that would let WWE sign him to a full-time deal. WWE chose to execute that clause this past Thursday after ROH announced their deal with Destination America. Joe and WWE signed an addendum to the original deal, now making Joe a full-time WWE worker.
Even though Joe has now signed a full-time deal with WWE, he will still be fulfilling his indie dates that were booked. ROH has confirmed that Joe will still be working their June 20th TV tapings in New York City, in what appears to be Joe’s final ROH appearance. Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland announced last night that Joe has been added to their July 10th show.
Joe is booked for the big WWE NXT live events in Pittsburgh, PA and Columbus, OH this month. PWInsider reports that Joe is not currently booked for tonight’s SmackDown tapings so unless things change, Joe will not be the one who will answer NXT Champion Kevin Owens open challenge.
Tommy Rogers (Thomas Crouch), one half of the tag team The Fantastics passed away yesterday at the age of 54 at his home in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was due to be sentenced today on charges relating to a brawl with police officers. Details of the cause and matter of death are still pending.
The Fantastics (Rogers and Bobby Fulton) in the mid 80’s quickly established themselves as one of the best working tag teams in the business, probably just below the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. The Fantastics was known for their battles with the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey with Jim Cornette).
Bobby Fulton (Robert Hines) wrote the following on his Facebook page about Rogers passing:
Jeff Jarrett, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Lance Hoyt appeared last night in Round Rock, Texas at a MiLB game to promote Global Force Wrestling and their GFW Grand Slam Tour across MiLB parks. Jarrett threw out the ceremonial pitch. The game was televised on the CBS Sports Network.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials have reportedly changed their thoughts on signing former TNA World Champion AJ Styles.
Styles is the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion and considers New Japan Pro Wrestling home where he is under contract, but WWE is interested in signing him. Styles also competes on an occasion for Ring of Honor. WWE is looking to have three touring brands in 2016 and want to load up on as much quality talent as they can.
The official Twitter account of Bankers Life Fieldhouse announced on Twitter that Brock Lesnar is scheduled to appear at the venue in Indianapolis on June 22 for RAW.
— Bankers Life Fldhs (@TheFieldhouse) May 28, 2015
Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since the night after WrestleMania, where he attacked Michael Cole, JBL, Booker T and a cameraman after Seth Rollins turned down a Title rematch for that night. Stephanie McMahon then suspended Lesnar indefinitely for his actions.
Lesnar is also scheduled for the following events in July:
July 6, RAW at the Allstate Arena in Chicago
July 13, RAW at the Philips Arena in Atlanta
July 19, Battleground pay-per-view at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis
July 20, RAW at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri
