Bomb Threat At Ring Of Honor Office Location – Suspect Shot 3 Times

A man wearing an animal onesie was shot by police Thursday outside of the post-production office for Ring of Honor … and it’s all because he pretended to have a bomb underneath the outfit.

According to CBS Baltimore, the man walked into Fox 45 — where one ROH office is housed — and said he needed the station to play something from his flash drive. He also said he had a bomb.

News spread fast through the building after security called 911 and sources tell us once the word was passed to ROH employees, they quickly grabbed their stuff and evacuated.

The man finally walked out of the building to confront police over an hour later, but was shot 3 times after he refused to remove his hands from his pockets. Turns out he didn’t have a bomb on him either.  The contraption was just chocolate candy bars wrapped in wires and a detonator looking device running down his sleeve.

The man is currently at the hospital getting treatment and is expected to survive.

 

ROH Owners Interested In Purchasing TNA Wrestling?

Rumors have been flying for weeks about the possible sale of TNA Wrestling. F4WOnline reports that a new development has occurred, which has put the owners of Ring of Honor in play.

Ring of Honor owners Sinclair Broadcasting have also been surrounded in rumors that they’ll be re-branding the Tennis Channel as the American Sports Network. With that, they’ll likely be expanding their sports content, and Ring of Honor could fit well in that programming schedule.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sinclair Broadcasting has shown interest in acquiring TNA. The main attraction as it pertains to TNA for Sinclair is that they have a large tape library, and have international TV deals already in place.

A big hangup on the sale continues to be that Dixie Carter is still hoping to retain majority ownership in the company. There have been negotiations with Aroluxe, but no sale has been completed as of yet.

As of now, the Tennis Channel has clearance in 40-50 million homes nationwide. Recently, Ring of Honor Joe Koff mentioned that there’s a possibility that ROH TV could also expand to two hours of TV time per week.

Actor Lorenzo Lamas Has Recurring Role On Lucha Underground – No Audition Was Needed

At the end of the last week’s episode of Lucha Underground, actor Lorenzo Lamas appeared as a new character named Councilman Delgado. You may remember Lamas from the Renegade TV series, which aired 110 episodes from 1992-1997.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Lamas didn’t need to audition for his recurring role on Lucha Underground because he became friends with Lucha Undeground Executive Producer Eric Van Wagenen. Lamas became friends with him while working together on The Celebrity Apprentice, in which Van Waganen was a Executive Producer.

Pro Wrestling Sheet sources say behind the scenes officials loved the idea of bringing Lamas on board, mainly because they thought it was cool to add an actor with some sort of name value into the mix.

Chyna’s Death Was From Accidental Overdose of Medication: Manager

Chyna’s manager said Wednesday he believes the pioneer wrestling star died of an accidental overdose of Ambien and Valium.

“She accidentally and unintentionally misused her legally prescribed medication over the course of 2-3 weeks. It’s an epidemic,” manager Anthony Anzaldo said in an email.

Chyna died last week at age 46 in her Redondo Beach, California, home.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has not yet ruled on a cause of death. It said a ruling is deferred pending additional investigation.

Coroner’s office Assistant Chief Ed Winter said full test results aren’t expected back for the next couple of months. “It is not closed,” Winter said of the case.

“It’s premature to give a cause of death on a case that the final tests are not in yet,” Winter said.

Anzaldo said Chyna died after falling asleep April 17 and that he found her at 3:30 p.m. April 20 after being unable to contact her.

“She fell asleep on Sunday night and peacefully took her last breath,” Anzaldo said. He said there were no alcohol or drugs, legal or illegal, at the scene.

Linda McMahon — Donald Trump Would Make A ‘Very Good President’ (VIDEO)

Linda McMahon says she believes WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump would make a “very good president” … and this morning on CNN, she listed off all the reasons.

McMahon appeared on the news network Wednesday to talk about the Presidential hopeful/reality star and said he’s not only capable of running the country, but she thinks he’d be great for the job.

Linda explains, “I’ve known Donald for over 20 years and when I’ve been asked before I’ve said, ‘look, let me tell you what I know about him personally.’ He’s loyal. I said he absolutely is a good business man, he hires smart people around him, he is very patriotic, he’s a good man and very accomplished. And I think he would make a very good president.”

Roderick Strong Planning To Raise Money For PTSD Support In Honor Of Deceased Friend

ROH wrestler Roderick Strong tells Pro Wrestling Sheet he plans to honor the memory of his recently deceased friend, who sadly took his own life Sunday, by raising money for PTSD support.

Strong’s longtime friend/former roommate Dustin Yates — a big wrestling fan who was also named after Dusty Rhodes — struggled with PTSD following his time in the service, and Roddy says he’s hoping to help others battling with the disorder before it’s too late.

The triple crown champion says he’ll either be launching his own foundation soon or participating in a yearly charity in conjunction with an already established PTSD organization.

For now, any donations can be made to the GoFundMe page setup by Yates’ friends.

Roddy adds, “He was a great soldier but an even better friend. His love for his family matched the love for his country. He served with such pride. He will be greatly missed.”

Chyna’s Brain To Be Donated For CTE Research

The brain of former WWE star Chyna, who was found dead last week in her Southern California home, will be donated for research involving the effects of concussions, her manager said Tuesday.

Chyna, whose real name is Joan Marie Laurer, was found dead Wednesday in her Redondo Beach apartment. Police were responding to a 911 call from a friend who said the former 46-year-old World Wrestling Entertainment performer failed to answer her phone for a few days.

Anthony Anzaldo, her manager, told NBC4 Los Angeles Tuesday that her brain will be donated for research involving chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a brain injury also known as CTE. Anzaldo said the brain has been given to Dr. Bennet Ifeakandu Omalu, a groundbreaking researcher who first discovered and published findings on CTE and was the subject of the 2015 film “Concussion,” starring Will Smith.

“We want to donate her brain,” Anzaldo told The New York Daily News. “We want to know what made Chyna tick.”

CTE has been diagnosed in the brains of several former NFL players. The progressive degenerative disease of the brain, which can only be diagnosed after death, has been found in athletes who have a history of repeated blows to the head and concussions.

The result of her autopsy have not been released.

Attorneys contacted him long before Chyna’s death to gauge interest in joining a brain injury lawsuit against the WWE, Analdo told the Daily News. They decided not to join the lawsuit, he said.

The documentary director who was with Chyna in the final months before she died says the ex-wrestler was incredibly broken up about not getting an invite this year to attend WWE‘s Hall of Fame ceremony — and it’s one of the reasons she began to drink heavily before passing away.

Erik Angra tells Pro Wrestling Sheet Joanie Laurer had been distressed over not being invited to the big event to see old friends, and it’s partly why she backed out of flying to Dallas.

For those who missed it, Chyna was scheduled for a meet and greet at WrestleCon but cancelled at the last minute and promoters said it was because she wouldn’t get on the plane.

Sources say Laurer expected the documentary she was filming to shine a light on her Hall of Fame situation, and was hoping it would lead to an invite to get the conversation started with company officials. When that didn’t happen, she began to drink more than usual.

Angra says Chyna was also feeling emotional over attempts to reconnect with her family, and the full story will be seen in their documentary — which they still plan to release in the wake of her passing.

Reports say Chyna’s death is being  investigated as a possible overdose and Angra tells us those working on the film “saw the signs were there” in regards to her addictions.

Official word on her cause of death is pending further investigation.

Coroner Delays Ruling On Chyna’s Death

CBS Los Angeles reports that the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has deferred a ruling on Joan “Chyna” Laurer’s death pending an additional investigation into what happened.

As noted, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion was found dead at the age of 46 in her Redondo Beach apartment last Wednesday night.

There were no signs of foul play inside the apartment but it was previously reported that her death was being looked at as a possible overdose. Her manager and best friend Anthony Anzaldo, who found her after she went several days without answering her phone, said he found Chyna in bed with two prescription bottles in the same room — one for Ambien, one for an anti-anxiety medication similar to Xanax. He also said there was nothing illegal as she was prescribed those medications and there was no alcohol, no blood, no vomit or any other signs of an overdose.
