Casting Company Hiring Extras To Watch Impact Wrestling Tapings In Ottawa

casting company impact tapings crowd paid

If you’re in Ottawa and looking to make money, head over to the Impact Wrestling tapings this week … because a local casting company says they’re paying people to watch.

Smyth Casting put the word out on social media asking for people available November 7-9 who are looking to make $12.50 an hour, four hours total per day.

For those doing the math, this means you can make $150 just to stand and WATCH wrestling.

The company also says they’re looking to hire fifty to seventy five people, which is surprising considering Anthem has been rumored to be hemorrhaging funds and this would cost over $10,000.

Applicants can work more than one day and may be given pre-made signs.

The casting call continues: “You are encouraged to look at wrestlers on the website and make your own signs, that would be very helpful – and you will get more face time on TV!!”

Alberto El Patron came out  to the ring and says he’s back in Impact Wrestling. He says something is wrong though, and he wants to give a history lesson. Ever since he started with the company, people in the back initially said he’s amazing and after giving his heart and soul to the company and to the fans, the cowards in the back ended up screwing him. He says instead of sticking to the facts with his incident, they listened to reports on the internet and took his title away from him. Alberto continued that nobody cared about his side or his family, nobody came to check on him. Alberto says he’s going to do something later tonight, it’s a strange vague promo that’s been thrown out there. He then calls Jeremy Borash a backstabber for comments he said previously. Alberto slowly heads toward commentary, wondering why he never called him. Alberto gets up in his face, Borash says he didn’t call or text and he apologizes. Alberto puts out his hand and Borash shakes it. Alberto says he came to Canada to make a statement and he’s going to make that statement with Borash. Teasing a beat down, he then changes his mind and says tonight is going to be amazing, heading to the back.

After thirteen years with Impact Wrestling, referee Brian Stiffler says he’s leaving the company.

Stiffler tells Pro Wrestling Sheet, “I’m extraordinarily grateful for being given the opportunity to have worked with TNA/IMPACT for the past 13 years. I’ve learned and grew so much with the help of so many incredible people, including Brian and Earl Hebner (who also I became best friends with!!).”

As we previously reported, Brian Hebner also made his exit from the company this week. No word on the current status of Earl ahead of Bound for Glory.

The long-time referee continued, “The locker room is so unbelievably talented and passionate. And the crew has some of the hardest working men and women I’ve ever been around. As I leave, I wish them all nothing but continued success and all the best!!”

No word on Stiffler’s current plans for the future.

Another day, another exit from Impact Wrestling … this time it’s long-time referee Brian Hebner.

Hebner tweeted about his exit on Wednesday evening and wrote, “Wanted to let everyone know that I have asked & been granted my release from !”

As we previously reported, Rockstar Spud was granted his release a few weeks ago. Plus, wrestler Marshe Rockett — who signed with the company in March but wasn’t used much on TV — also announced his exit today.  Recent signee MJ Jenkins was let go as well.

This comes on the heels of Anthem getting rid of the hosts of their popular Live Audio Wrestlingshows for Fight Network and a report stating the company is hemorrhaging funds.

Hebner closed by writing, “Thanks to my locker room, Ur the best! #123”

Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed Rockstar Spud is no longer with Impact Wrestling and was told his release was done at the wrestler’s request.

PWInsider first reported on his exit from the company this morning and we’re told his choice to ask for a release wasn’t done out of ill will. It was merely a business decision.

Spud started with Impact in 2012 after winning the first season of their British Boot Camp series and became Dixie Carter‘s “chief of staff.” He went on to have a memorable feud with Ethan Carter IIIthat ended in a hair vs hair match.

His last match for the company was a Street Fight against Swoggle in May.

No word on what the wrestler has lined up for the future.

Bobby Lashley Says A Fight With Brock Lesnar ‘Needs To Be Done’

Related image

Some might find it surprising that Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar have never faced each other in a wrestling ring. In fact, the two of them have never even met face-to-face. In a recent interview with The Hannibal TV, Lashley called out Lesnar and said he believes it’s a fight that needs to happen.

“It’s not on me, it’s on him,” Lashley said. “I’m not the type to call people out. I have mad respect for Brock and I have mad respect for everybody in the fight business and in the wrestling business. But I think it’s just one of those things that needs to be done.”

Lashley currently competes in Impact Wrestling while Lesnar is the WWE Universal Champion, so a wrestling match is unlikely to happen any time soon. What is more likely is an MMA fight, as both Lashley and Lesnar are experienced combat fighters. Lashley said he believes a fight with Lesnar would attract casual and hardcore fans alike because of the entertainment factor.

“There’s big matchups all the way across the board. They looked at Brock fighting Jon Jones, that was one thing that was talked about, everybody was like, ‘Oh, that’s awesome!’ Floyd Mayweather fighting Conor [McGregor], these are different matchups that people want to see,” Lashley said. “I think right now people are starting to move more into that entertainment aspect of wanting to see those different contests and different matchups. Brock and myself, whether it’s in professional wrestling or whether it’s in a fight, I think it needs to be done.”

Lashley said it’s up to Lesnar or Paul Heyman to make the fight happen. He’s currently signed to Bellator MMA and last fought in October 2016 when he defeated Josh Appelt by second-round submission. Lesnar’s most recent fight came at UFC 200 in July 2016 when he defeated Mark Hunt by unanimous decision, but the win was vacated after Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance.

Lashley and Lesnar would provide an interesting matchup as they are both powerful strikers with strong wrestling pedigrees. Lashley wouldn’t offer a prediction for how a potential fight with Lesnar would go, but he said he likes his chances.

“Until the fight happens, no one knows,” Lashley said. “I think I would do well. I think our styles are very similar and I think it’s gonna be tit-for-tat in a lot of ways.”

Taryn Terrell Gone From Impact Because She Can’t Get Into Canada

Taryn Terrell

It was reported last week that Taryn Terrell was pulled from the Knockouts title match at Bound for Glory and that she was done with the company. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the concussion story from TV (which took her out of the match) is a cover. The real story is that Terrell cannot get into Canada, and with the company shifting TV tapings for now into Canada, as well as Bound for Glory, it made it impossible to use her going forward. This is similar to Jim Cornette’s departure from the company. The split was said to be amicable on both sides.

Praying For Jeff Jarrett

All of us here at Wrestling News Blog (Trevor, John & Vanessa), would like to let Jeff Jarrett know that we are praying for him as he deals with his problems. We believe God can see him through this.

As we previously reported Jeff  has checked into a rehab facility, after news that He was fired from his position at Impact Wrestling this week while on a leave of absence. The next day a promoter in Canada accused him of passing out in the locker room over the weekend due to drinking, then insisting on wrestling a match.
