Update On TNA Pay Issues

TNA Impact Wrestling

Talk of pay issues within TNA continue as Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed details originally broke by Brian Fritz of The Sporting News. As of this past weekend, TNA production crew has not been paid for the February pay-per-view tapings or any event since then.

Production workers received pay in April for the January UK tour, which was almost 70 days late when they’re supposed to be paid within 30 days. The checks were not only late but they were shorted on average of $1,000 per person.

Making things worse, the production crew found out that TNA talents were finally being paid for the March tapings while production hadn’t been paid for February yet. TNA had similar pay issues in 2014 that were more significant but one production worker noted that this is the third year in a row where there were issues at one point or another with late payments. While they have dealt with late payments before, being shorted money on a check is a new problem and likely a big morale killer.

TNA In Talks With Mexico’s AAA, GFW Hurt By Talks?, AAA’s World Cup

According to Wrestling Observer Newslettter, TNA and Mexico’s AAA promotion have been in talks about TNA possibly sending a three-man team to the Lucha Libre World Cup trios tournament in late May, which could re-open relation between the two companies.

TNA and AAA resuming their relationship could hurt Jeff Jarrett because he has been talking about using AAA talent in his Global Force Wrestling promotion.

There will be just two teams from AAA in their Lucha Libre trios tournament. One will be made up of Alberto El Patron, Rey Mysterio and Myzteziz (the original Sin Cara in WWE).

More TNA News: Paycheck Problems, Announcer Misses Tapings, Low Morale

There was reports that TNA was behind on paying talents. PWInsider reports that talents now have started receiving their checks. F4WOnline reports that the checks started arriving this past Friday and continued arriving Saturday and Monday. One source told PWInsider that talents would be receiving their March checks earlier than scheduled to try and make up for the previous delays.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that Taz missed the recent Impact Wrestling tapings and repercussions could be coming.

Meltzer says things in TNA are a lot worse than they were at the end of the Spike TV run. While talents have started receiving paychecks, there’s still a lot of unhappiness across the company with the feeling that there is no momentum and they’re not going anywhere.

Destination America Becoming A Problem Within TNA

Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Destination America is becoming a significant problem within TNA. The network is reportedly calling a lot of the shots in TNA these days with the idea that they are paying TNA and running so many hours of TNA programming.

Destination America reportedly doesn’t like Impact Wrestling being taped from the U.K. They don’t know the pro wrestling business at all but they didn’t like the idea of TV taped outside America airing on their Destination America channel. Destination America may not have a problem with TNA running a yearly tour overseas but they made it clear they want Impact taped in the US most of the time.

Destination America officials wanted Kurt Angle to be the World Champion because they liked the idea of the champion on their network being an American gold medalist. They are also high on Taryn Terrell as the Knockouts Champion because of her looks.
