Jeff Cobb Reportedly A Free Agent While On AEW Dynamite

Jeff Cobb has arrived in AEW, but word is that he’s still a free agent.

It was announced during last night’s Dynamite episode from Austin, TX that AEW World Champion Chris Jericho had hired Cobb to take out Jon Moxley in a singles match on next Wednesday’s show. Jericho is set to defend his title against Moxley at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view at the end of this month. Cobb later made a surprise debut at the end of this week’s Dynamite, which came after Moxley defeated Santana in the main event. The Inner Circle attacked Moxley after the match and Jericho dropped him with a Judas Effect. Jericho then called Cobb out to the ring. Cobb came out to a reaction and then left Moxley laying after hitting a Tour of the Islands. Cobb celebrated with The Inner Circle to end the show.

Cobb is not currently signed to an AEW contract, according to PWInsider. The ROH & NJPW star remains a free agent. It was noted that Cobb’s appearance on Dynamite was not a sign that AEW has a new working relationship with Ring of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling. Cobb was booked directly by AEW as he’s free to work anywhere he wants. There’s no word yet on if Cobb’s looking to sign with AEW or any other promotion soon.

The 37 year old Cobb is currently scheduled to team with Dan Maff to face KENTA and Taiji Ishimori at ROH’s Supercard of Honor event on April 4 during WWE’s WrestleMania 36 weekend.

AEW Shares Photo Of Cody Rhodes’ Back After Lashings From MJF

Cody Rhodes received ten lashings from MJF to close Dynamite this week … and the photo shared by AEW afterward shows just how painful it was.

In case you missed it, MJF took his time doling out each crack of the belt as Cody’s friends and family took turns trying to console the AEW VP throughout the segment. This included Dustin Rhodes, Arn Anderson, The Young Bucks and his wife Brandi Rhodes.

After the show was over, AEW posted a picture on social media showing Cody’s back … and it’s brutal.

This was one of MJF’s stipulations in order for Cody to receive a match against him at Revolution. Rhodes will next have to face MJF’s henchman Wardlow in a steel cage match.

Luke Harper (Brodie Lee) Reportedly Making His AEW Debut Soon

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Brodie Lee, f.k.a. Luke Harper, is reportedly expected to make his AEW debut soon.

The 40 year old Lee is expected to sign a new AEW contract and then make his debut during their March 18 Dynamite episode from his hometown of Rochester, NY, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He will likely go back to using the Brodie Lee name in AEW.

The Observer noted that Lee, who is scheduled to appear at WrestleCon during WrestleMania 36 Weekend in early April, will be able to legally start with any other promotion before March 18, but the idea is that it’s best to debut him in Rochester as he’s guaranteed to receive a major reaction there. It was previously reported that Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension would see their WWE non-compete clauses expire on Sunday, March 8.

Lee filed to trademark the “Brodie Lee” ring name back on November 26, shortly before he was granted his WWE release on December 8, along with Sin Cara and The Ascension.
