Paul Wight Gives Health Update, Teases AEW All In 2023 Appearance

In a recent interview with DAZN Wrestling, Paul Wight (formerly The Big Show) provided an update on his fitness status following the knee surgery he underwent last year.

Wight described the intense recovery process and teased an appearance at AEW All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On bouncing back from his knee surgery in 2022: “It’s amazing how difficult the knee is versus the hip. I think when I had my hips done, they came along a lot stronger, a lot faster. The knees are a lot more difficult. The rehab’s a lot more intensive. The pain afterward is a lot more intensive. They told me that going into it, but I didn’t believe them. But yeah, it’s been pretty intense. I’ve got full range of motion. I have more range of motion with my fixed knee than I did with my knee before. I’ve got 136-degree flexion and I’ve got zero [degree] straightening, so I’m above average. My knee hasn’t moved that good in 14 years.”

On when audiences can expect to see him back in the ring: “I would have to say if I was a betting person because I’m not allowed to stooge, I’d say the odds are pretty good that I’ll be here at Wembley… If I’m a gambling man, which I’m not, I would bet very strongly that there’s a high, high probability that Captain Insano will probably make it to Wembley.”

Report – Rey Fenix Pulled From AEW All In 2023 Match

Rey Fenix will no longer be appearing in the Stadium Stampede match at Sunday’s All In 2023 pay-per-view event.

Fightful Select is reporting that Fenix, who was originally set to team with Eddie Kingston, Penta and Best Friends against the Blackpool Combat Club and several mystery partners, has been removed from the bout.

The reason for Fenix’s removal is related to either travel or visa issues. He is reportedly not injured. The company is planning to explain Fenix’s removal from the match on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

As of this writing, there is no word on who will be replacing Rey or whether the match will be adjusted with less competitors taking part in it.

On Tuesday’s media conference call to promote AEW All In 2023, AEW President Tony Khan stated that there would “probably be some other changes to the card necessitated by things happening in the real world. Stuff, in some cases, stuff that is nobody’s fault, but stuff that is not related to the world of professional wrestling.”

Report Indicates Santana And Ortiz May Soon Be Returning To AEW

It appears that two AEW wrestlers are close to returning — Santana and Ortiz.

In the latest report from Fightful Select, they have confirmed that Santana is healed up and ready to return to the ring. Santana has been out of action since he tore his ACL on June 29, 2022, in the Blood & Guts match, where he, Eddie Kingston, the Blackpool Combat Club, and Ortiz defeated The Jericho Appreciation Society.

Per the report, Ortiz could be returning to the ring as soon as next Sunday for AEW’s All In event. Fightful was told that Ortiz was pulled from a Limitless Wrestling show because of a prior commitment to AEW. If he does show up at Wembley Stadium, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was during the Stadium Stampede match. The match is between Kingston, Orange Cassidy, the Lucha Brothers, and the Best Friends versus Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and three others that have yet to be announced. Ortiz was last in an AEW ring back on the March 1 episode of “Dynamite,” where he was part of the Face of the Revolution Ladder match.

Sources within the industry also reportedly told Fightful that Ortiz and Santana are still not on friendly terms and that this situation developed way before Santana was injured. Their relationship was discussed last week on Konnan’s podcast, “K100 with Konnan & Disco Inferno,” after a fan had asked if Konnan would ever bring LAX to AEW and it was implied in the question that the former tag team was on talking terms. Konnan admitted he wasn’t aware that they were talking. He was the one that confirmed that the two weren’t on good terms back in July.

Cash Wheeler Arrest Affidavit: AEW Star Allegedly Pointed Handgun At Victim In Traffic

In light of the news of Cash Wheeler’s arrest and his subsequent arraignment on the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, the Orange County Clerk’s Office has released the sworn affidavit from the complainant in the case. According to the statement made by Daniel Matta, Daniel Wheeler (Cash’s real name) is alleged to have pointed a gun in his direction as part of a road rage incident on July 27.

The statement reads, in part, “[Victim Daniel] Matta stated he was driving west on Interstate 4 north of Exit 83. He noticed a Jeep Gladiator weaving in and out of traffic honking its horn, so he moved over to the far-right lane to let the Jeep pass. Matta said the Jeep took the right shoulder to drive around him on the passenger side of his vehicle. Matta looked over and noticed a white male with a beard pointing a black semi-automatic handgun out of the driver’s window at him with a strong stare. Matta said he feared for his life at this time.”

The victim goes on to explain that he tried to get out of the way and ended up behind the Jeep, taking pictures when it began to drive recklessly and calling 911 to relay the information. Officers created a photo line-up using an online database for investigative purposes, from which Matta identified Wheeler out of a randomized order of potential suspects.

Wheeler had been set to defend the AEW Tag Team Championships alongside partner Dax Harwood against The Young Bucks at All In. AEW has stated that they are aware of the charge and are closely monitoring the situation, making no assessment on Wheeler’s status for the pay-per-view otherwise.

Haus of Wrestling’s Nick Hausman reports he was given the impression that the Young Bucks versus FTR rubber match would still be going ahead at All In on August 27, given that Wheeler was not asked to surrender his passport. AEW World Champion MJF came to Wheeler’s defense and said the match would still be happening.
