News On An Injury Sustained By Bryan Danielson On AEW Dynamite

During this Saturday’s episode of “AEW Collision,” it was announced by Tony Schiavone that Bryan Danielson broke his orbital bone and is expected to be out for the remainder of the year. He will be undergoing surgery, too. The unfortunate injury happened during his tag team match against AEW TNT Champion Orange Cassidy and NJPW star Kazuchika Okada on the October 25 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” when he was hit with both an Orange Punch and Rainmaker.

Also, during “Collision,” Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Claudio Castagnoli called out Okada and Cassidy. He warned them that he will get his revenge for what they did to his partner — and he’ll be using their signature moves, the Orange Punch and Rainmaker, in the process. Later on the show, Castagnoli had a squash match with Tracy Williams, where he used the Rainmaker. Castagnoli is set to face Cassidy on the November 1 episode of “Dynamite.” Cassidy will be putting the AEW International Title on the line.

It was on the September 2 episode of “Collision,” when Danielson returned to AEW programming after fracturing his forearm during his match against Okada in June at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. The year before, at the 2022 Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Danielson had to miss it because of an undisclosed injury, and Castagnoli took his place in a match against NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. Danielson and Sabre Jr., eventually got their one-on-one match earlier this month at AEW WrestleDream, in which Danielson got the win.

Ric Flair Debuts On AEW Dynamite As Tony Khan’s Gift For Sting

Sting received his retirement gift from Tony Khan on “AEW Dynamite” Wednesday night, which turned out to be the AEW debut of “The Nature Boy” himself, Ric Flair.

Last week, after Sting told the world that the last match of his illustrious career would take place at AEW Revolution 2024, it was announced that Tony Khan had a gift for the legendary wrestler, to be unveiled on this week’s episode. After a brief conversation between Sting, Darby Allin, and Tony Schiavone, Flair’s iconic music hit, and “The Dirtiest Player In The Game” made his way down to the ring to the surprise and delight of the Philadelphia crowd. Getting on the mic, Flair and Sting hugged, and Flair said he wanted to “ride it out with you,” presumably referring to this final run of Sting’s career. It’s unclear whether that means Flair will be a regular on AEW programming going forward.

The segment was later interrupted by Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne, and a six-man tag was set up for AEW Full Gear on November 18. From the segment, it didn’t seem as though Flair, who supposedly wrestled his final match last year, would be Sting’s and Allin’s partner, but it also wasn’t explicitly stated that he wouldn’t be. However, Sting and Allin approached Adam Copeland backstage later in the broadcast, who has also been engaged in a storyline with Cage — though thus far, Copeland is still refusing to fight his old friend.

Flair and Sting had an acclaimed rivalry over the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, a feud that would carry over to WCW and even, eventually, to Impact Wrestling in 2011.

The Garcia Twins – ‘We Want One Last Run’

On a recent edition of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, WWE Hall of Famers The Garcia Twins (Nikki and Brie Garcia) stated that they’re hoping for an in-ring return for one last run in pro wrestling.

However, their return completely depends on Nikki getting cleared by her surgeon.

Brie said, Especially because my husband’s at AEW, but I’m still surrounded a lot by wrestling because he and I, we talk about it all the time. He’s fully in it, and he just had an incredible match this Sunday at their big pay-per-view, All Out. I watch everything, and when I see the women wrestle and all that, I always am like, ‘Ah!’

Nikki, who suffered a broken neck in 2015, said, “We want one last run. Especially when our sons are a little older and they could sit and watch their mommies kick ass and if my surgeon allows me to.”

Sting Announces Impending Retirement, Will Wrestle Last Match At AEW Revolution 2024

Current AEW star, WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW World Heavyweight Champion addressed the future of his career on Wednesday’s episode of “AEW Dynamite” in Rosenburg, TX. Sting pointed out that he wrestled his first AEW match at AEW Revolution 2021 and that announced that his retirement match would take place at AEW Revolution 2024. There is no word on when or where AEW Revolution 2024 is set to take place yet.

Sting mentioned at his WWE Hall of Fame induction that “the only thing that’s for sure is that nothing is for sure,” hinting that his original retirement in 2015 wasn’t permanent, but on Wednesday Sting made himself clear saying “the only thing’s that’s for sure” is that the Revolution 2024 match will be his final match. Sting had initially retired after suffering a neck injury at WWE Night of Champions 2015, where he was facing WWE Champion Seth Rollins in the main event. During Dynamite, Sting mentioned that he wasn’t quite satisfied with that retirement and that his AEW tenure helped put a cap on his 30+ years in professional wrestling.
