MLW Fusion Preview 12/1/2022

MLW FUSION returns tonight at 8pm ET streaming worldwide on Pro Wrestling TV and Saturday 8pm ET nationwide on cable television on beIN SPORTS.

This week’s card:

  • World Heavyweight Championship: Hammerstone (champion) vs Bandido
  • Luchadoras Eliminator: La Hiedra vs. Lady Flammer vs Reina Dorada vs Lady Shani

Four organizations converge as the 2022 Super Series kicks off with an interpromotional World Heavyweight Championship title fight.

Just a week removed from his Falls Count Anywhere dynastic clash and the shocking assault from EJ Nduka that followed, Hammerstone represents the league as he waves the MLW banner into battle. Will Hammer be 100% when he defends the belt against “Mexico’s Most Wanted” Bandido?

Poisoned by his conquest for the world champion, after betraying and pummeling Hammerstone in New York City, “The Judge” EJ Nduka speaks tonight.

The Women’s World Featherweight Champion Taya Valkyrie joins Rich and Joe ringside as La Hiedra, Lady Flammer, Reina Dorada and Lady Shani go head to head to determine which luchadora gets the next shot at “La Wera Loca”!

After losing the National Openweight Championship to Davey Richards, Alex Kane breaks his silence with a bombshell that promises to send shockwaves through the league. What is the captain of the Bomaye Fight Club planning?

The mysterious calling card attacks continue to cast a shadow over the league as the body count rises.

Plus, the hourglass winds down and Doomsday arrives as Killer Kross competes in singles competition!

Ronda Rousey Announced As Playable Character For Mobile Game “Raid: Shadow Legends.”

Ronda Rousey loves playing video games, and now she is all set up as a playable character for the mobile game “Raid: Shadow Legends.” A new commercial for the game demonstrates Rousey playing the game only to lose a level while talking. She marches into “Raid” headquarters and demands to be put in the game. After some hesitation, Rousey is granted access to find a weapon. She chooses fiery gloves before transporting into the game to begin fighting. Rousey can now be played as a “Legendary Champion” by downloading the game for free.

“The Baddest Woman on the Planet” is no stranger to appearing in video games, appearing in three “EA Sports UFC” games, in addition to “WWE 2K20,” “WWE 2K Battlegrounds,” and “WWE 2K22,” all as a selectable character. Rousey also had her dreams come true when she voiced Sonya Blade for 2019’s “Mortal Kombat 11.” As of late, Rousey has live-streamed herself playing “God of War” on her popular YouTube channel, which currently has over 1.65 million subscribers.

When she’s not battling bad guys in fictional worlds, Rousey is taking on all comers in WWE as she is in the midst of her second reign as “SmackDown” Women’s Champion. She returned to WWE in January to win the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match, which allowed her to challenge Charlotte Flair for the title. Rousey eventually won the gold at WrestleMania Backlash, beating Flair in an “I Quit” Match before feuding with Liv Morgan over the title throughout the summer. Most recently, Rousey tapped out Shotzi to retain the belt at Survivor Series: WarGames.

Mickie James, Nick Aldis, And Conrad Thompson Announce Australian Endeavor

Since his stint with the NWA came to a sudden, and very acrimonious conclusion, many have been wondering what Nick Aldis’ next move would be. Could the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion wind up in AEW? WWE? World of Sport’s latest revival? Elsewhere? Regardless of what people expected, few, if any, would’ve predicted Aldis’ next project would be in the land down under.

In a press release unveiled Tuesday afternoon, Aldis, along with his wife, Mickie James, were announced as executive producers for Oceania Pro Wrestling’s 2023 Oceanic Wrestling Event. Scheduled for the latter stages of 2023, the event will see James in charge of the women’s content related to the show, which will be co-promoted by wrestling podcaster and occasional event promoter Conrad Thompson and Australian executive Cam Vale, who serves as COO of the North Melbourne Football Club of the Australian Football League.

The release revealed that the Oeanic Wrestling Event is looking to be a cross between “a major sporting event and a major cultural event like a Comic-Con.” The event was also compared to Starrcast, the wrestling fan convention that Thompson has promoted several times in the US, most recently this past summer. It is expected to take place over the course of four days, and work to locate a venue able to accommodate at least 5,000 fans is expected to begin imminently. While this project would seem to preclude Aldis from signing with a major US promotion, it should be noted that comments from Vale in the press release suggest they are seeking the involvement of several wrestling companies, including AEW, Impact, New Japan, Lucha Libre AAA, CMLL, and even Aldis’ old promotion the NWA. Aldis’ NWA deal is set to officially expire in January.

Roman Reigns Upset With Kevin Owens After Survivor Series WarGames

Roman Reigns was reportedly not happy following the Survivor Series WarGames main event.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Reigns was said to be visibly upset backstage regarding what he perceived as an “unplanned spot” involving him and Kevin Owens. Reigns was overheard saying he may have a ruptured ear drum, and it was clear to those who witnessed the scene that he was not happy with what happened.

Reigns did not take part in the post-event press conference as he was originally scheduled to.

Talent spoken with by Fightful indicated they did not believe there would be any extended heat from what happened and that Reigns’ reaction was likely due to the heat of the moment.

It is not clear what spot was the catalyst for Reigns becoming upset. The only spots Owens and Reigns worked with each other during the match came close to the end. Owens slapped Reigns, and then they exchanged strikes for a period. Roman hit a Superman Punch, and Owens hit a superkick, a pop-up powerbomb, and a stunner. Sami Zayn then broke up the pin leading to the finish, where Zayn hit a low blow and Helluva Kick on Owens.
