NJPW New Year Dash To Be A Mystery Card

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) has made a rather interesting announcement. Matches for their upcoming New Year Dash 2023 show won’t be announced until they actually happen. Thus, the card will be a mystery card of sorts.

The promotion did a similar thing back in October at The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street. New Year’s Dash goes down on January 5, after Wrestle Kingdom 17. Check out the announcement here:

2023 sees the return of New Year Dash to the calendar. This exciting start to the year traditionally sees a mystery card revealed to the audience, staff and wrestlers as the event gets underway. On January 5 2023, however, things get an added twist. This year, the card will not be announced at all!

Instead matches will be revealed as wrestlers make their entrance. Back in October, the Night Before Rumble on 44th Street saw a similar concept with chaotic results, and a raft of big time surprises. What might be in store on January 5? Make sure you watch live in English on NJPW World, or better yet, be part of the action in person!

Mandy Rose Shares Message To Subscribers After WWE NXT Release

Mandy Rose has thanked her subscribers on her website after being released from WWE this week.

The former NXT Women’s Champion lost the title to Roxanne Perez on this week’s WWE NXT, and was released yesterday due to the content on her site.

In an update on the site, Rose ensured her subscribers that the page will remain up.

“Hey guys, thank you for all the messages. I am overwhelmed with all the love and support from you guys. And don’t worry the page is still up! ;)”

Rose was reportedly earning more through her website than as a WWE Superstar at the time of her release.

Jeff Jarrett Teases That ‘Cool Things’ Are Coming To AEW In 2023

Jeff Jarrett currently serves as AEW’s Director of Business Development and is working closely on the live event side of things.

During the latest edition of his “My World” podcast, Jarrett promised some “cool things” that will be coming in 2023.

When talking about adding AEW live events to new markets, Jarrett said the company is “plowing the ground, and a lot of cool things coming in Q1 next year.” He said,

“Hopefully we get some announcements out sooner rather than later, but there’s a lot of cool things … The WWE is a 40, 50, 60-year-old company, the lineage goes back three or four generations. AEW, I mean people may or may not take this the right way, but in a lot of ways it’s no longer the embryo, it’s been born, but it’s still in the infant stages. It’s really cool.”

“Jobber” Action Andretti Defeats Chris Jericho On Dynamite, Signs With AEW

Chris Jericho faced off against Action Andretti on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, which many fans and Jericho himself thought would be a squash match. But in a shocking turn of events, Andretti picked up a huge upset victory over the Ocho.

Jericho, who was extremely angry after losing to Claudio Castagnoli at the ROH Final Battle 2022 pay-per-view event, said he was going to take his frustrations out on “some jobber.”

This led to Andretti coming out to face him, with the “jobber” picking up a massive win over Jericho.

Andretti often works for MCU Pro Wrestling and has also worked for CZW in the past.

Following the match, AEW President Tony Khan announced that Andretti is All Elite.

Mandy Rose Released By WWE

Mandy Rose has been released by WWE according to a report from Fightful Select. The reason for the release reportedly being that she put the company in a tough position by posting adult photos on her BrandArmy account.

Rose began trending this week after photos and videos of herself, nude and semi-nude, began to circulate online. This also explains why Rose dropped the NXT Women’s Title to Roxanne Perez last night. The match was initially to take place at a later date but was instead added yesterday without any prior advertisement.

Internal WWE Reactions To The WSJ Article, Vince Wanting To Come Back

Vince McMahon wants to come back to the WWE, but it doesn’t seem like that feeling is mutual.

Today’s article from the Wall Street Journal has been covered on this site elsewhere, but to recap: Vince McMahon has told those close to him that he’s considered making a WWE comeback, and got poor advice to retire. There is also the revelation of two more lawsuits regarding sexual misconduct and assault – one new, and one from Rita Chatterton, a former WWE referee.

A new report details the internal reaction at WWE to the ongoing legal issues surrounding Vince.

Fightful immediately heard from numerous staff and talent within WWE. One WWE talent called the news “exhausting,” and was hopeful that Vince McMahon’s WWE tenure was in the rear view, despite them having a positive relationship prior to McMahon leaving. Another said that they were concerned for the talent that got re-hired in the event that Vince McMahon were to return.

A higher-up in WWE wasn’t nearly as concerned. They mentioned that the stock price increased, viewership was boosted, and general morale recovered after Vince McMahon left. Said the source: “It would be a really selfish move for Vince to come back under any circumstances. The reason he left, how business has done since then — it’d be really selfish. But selfish activities are what led to him leaving in the first place.” That source said that they did not believe that Vince would return, despite having voting power within the company.

One longtime staffer said that morale has increased tenfold since McMahon left, and they don’t believe he’ll be back, whether he wants to be or not. An employee of over a decade says they also believe that McMahon’s family will actively encourage him to remain retired. That same source says they think that McMahon returning would do irreparable damage to the WWE brand, and said that the few doubters that thought WWE would collapse internally have been proven wrong, with one notable name even admitting as much.

The timing of the article’s release was interesting to one official that came to power in recent years. With McMahon speaking to those close to him about a potential return, that source did not believe the timing of the information of additional legal issues being released was an accident, and also coincides with the release of a Vince McMahon VICE TV documentary.

Sting Confirms Recent Surgery And Talks His Health

At the age of 63, All Elite Wrestling star Sting is still going strong. It’s been just about two years since Sting debuted for AEW at Winter is Coming 2020 by coming to the aid of Darby Allin, and since then he’s put on a number of astonishing performances. In a recent interview with “The K&C Masterpiece” radio show, however, Sting revealed that he recently underwent surgery on both of his knees.

“I just had surgery, it [was] 6 or 7 weeks ago now,” Sting said. “Basically just a clean-out on my very old knees. … I’ve seen those that went through the physical therapy process with flying colors, and did what they were supposed to do, and worked through the pain versus those who did not. Those who did not, they never recover. The game never comes back to them.”

Sting would then recall several instances from his past where he knew that he was injured, and stressed the importance of stopping immediately rather than attempting to power through certain injuries. “Then there are other times where you’re hurt almost to that point, but you can still go on,” Sting continued. “I’ve dealt with all of it.”

The recent surgery might come as a bit of a surprise for fans, considering Sting wrestled a match at AEW Full Gear just a few weeks ago. “The Stinger” didn’t take it easy during the match, either — he even dove off a raised platform, landing on Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh, in one of the more memorable moments of the match. His actions in the match seem to confirm Sting’s surgery was relatively minor, and it certainly looks as though the wrestling legend is already back at full capacity.
