AEW Women’s World Champion Willow Nightingale is reportedly heading into the biggest title defense of her career while dealing with a legitimate injury.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Online, Nightingale recently suffered a hand injury, though she is still expected to compete against Mercedes Moné at AEW All In: London 2026 on August 30.
Injury Incorporated Into AEW Storyline
The injury was reportedly the reason behind the backstage attack angle involving Moné on the August 26 episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW used the segment to incorporate Nightingale’s condition into the ongoing storyline ahead of their highly anticipated championship clash at Wembley Stadium.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding when the injury occurred or the severity of the issue. However, Alvarez reported that the injury is not expected to prevent Nightingale from defending the title at All In.
Champion Has Wrestled Sparingly Since Winning The Title
Nightingale captured the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW Redemption 2026, defeating Thekla to win the promotion’s top women’s prize.
Since becoming champion, she has only competed in two matches.
Her first appearance came at AEW Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, where she teamed with The Brawling Birds to defeat Mercedes Moné and Divine Dominion in trios action.
She followed that performance with a champion-versus-champion victory over AEW TBS Champion Maya World on the August 22 episode of AEW Collision.
While there is speculation that the hand injury may have occurred during the match with Maya World, no official details have been provided.
Another Injury Setback In 2026
Unfortunately for Nightingale, this is not the first injury challenge she has faced this year.
In May, she was forced to vacate the AEW TBS Championship and withdraw from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament due to a shoulder injury.
That setback reportedly altered several creative plans within AEW.
According to previous reports, the original direction for All In would have seen Nightingale enter Wembley Stadium as the challenger rather than the champion. Following her recovery, AEW adjusted those plans while still keeping the highly anticipated showdown with Moné intact.
All In Main Event Still On Track
Despite entering the event less than 100 percent, Nightingale remains scheduled to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Moné at AEW All In: London.
The match is expected to be one of the marquee attractions of AEW’s biggest event of the year, with Nightingale looking to retain her championship against one of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in the industry.
For now, all signs indicate the champion will be ready for Wembley Stadium, even if she won’t be entering the match at full strength.
