WWE Won’t Run TLC Pay-Per-View In 2021?

WWE reportedly isn’t planning to hold the annual TLC pay-per-view in 2021. The company has performed the show every year since 2009.

The WWE TLC pay-per-view runs annually in the month of December, but it sounds like the show won’t be happening this year.

Previously, an unnamed pay-per-view was scheduled to run on Dec. 12 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Several weeks ago, it was reported that TLC 2021 would actually run on Dec. 12.

However, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingNews.co), that WWE isn’t actually running a pay-per-view in December. Meltzer added “the feeling is now” running 12 pay-per-views annually. Instead of a TLC December show, WWE will have the “Day 1” pay-per-view on Jan. 1 (a Saturday) at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

With that, there are only two WWE pay-per-views remaining for 2021. Crown Jewel will be held next Thursday at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Barring a change of plans, Survivor Series will be the final PPV event of 2021 — at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Nov. 21.

Regarding other WWE pay-per-views that were held in 2020 but excluded this year include Payback (Aug. 30 of last year), and Clash of Champions (held in 2019 and 2020). Backlash was renamed “WrestleMania Backlash” this year, having featured several WrestleMania 37 rematches.

WWE performs two shows in Saudi Arabia annually, but they were only able to run the one in 2020 (Super ShowDown on Feb. 27) because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Crown Jewel 2021 will be the lone WWE pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia this year.

WWE performed TLC every year from 2009 to 2020, but it looks like they’re keen on changing things up this year. Instead of a December pay-per-view, there will be two PPVs in January — the aforementioned Day One event on Jan. 1 and the annual Royal Rumble. That show will be held on Jan. 29 inside The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Kairi Sane Possibly Suffers Concussion At WWE TLC

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane may have suffered a concussion during Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.

The TLC main event saw The Kabuki Warriors retain their titles over Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in a brutal women’s TLC match, the first-ever for the tag team titles. The match included several big bumps for all four competitors. Sane was laid out on the outside of the ring for the finish of the match as Asuka retrieved the titles from above the ring. Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com reports that Sane was checked out backstage after the show and the belief is that she suffered a concussion.

The report noted how Sane was not moving well after a certain point in the match, and how she didn’t take a normal bump when Flair hit her with the Spear at ringside, which could be a sign that she was already out on her feet by then. There was also a spot where Sane looked like she was struggling to get up for a powerbomb spot. It was speculated that she may have suffered the injury when she was hit in the head as Flair and was throwing the monitors around at ringside.

It was also noted that an official diagnosis will not be available until Monday afternoon at RAW. WWE has not announced any injuries from TLC and Sane has not commented.

The Fiend is still on the big screen. Wyatt gets up and slowly walks over to Miz, who is still laid out. The lights start going down for The Fiend and Wyatt gets excited, yelling about how “he’s here!” Wyatt turns around to a hooded man in the ring. The man charges and drops Wyatt with a a running knee. Fans chant “Yes!” as the man stands up. He takes the hood off and it’s a mostly clean shaven Daniel Bryan. Fans chant his name. Vince McMahon Reportedly “Furious” With IC Title Match At WWE TLC

Image result for IC Title Match At WWE TLC Rollins vs. Ambrose

One of the biggest surprises at last night’s WWE TLC pay-per-view was the poor reaction to the Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose Intercontinental title match. In a match that went 24 minutes, Ambrose defeated Rollins clean with the Dirty Deeds. During the match, fans chanted “this is boring” and “Becky.”

The fans were reportedly not the only ones upset with the match. Dave Meltzer noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon “was furious” with it.

In case you missed it, Rousey got involved in the final moments of the TLC main event and pushed the two wrestlers off a ladder to give Asuka an easy path to victory.

Becky is also shown in the footage telling the crowd “I will be back” before walking backstage.

FYI — Asuka was interviewed after the show and said that she is now “The Man.”

Backstage News On Kurt Angle Being Added To WWE TLC Main Event, If There Are Plans To Wrestle Again

Image result for Kurt Angle WWE TLC

Many fans have wondered about how Kurt Angle was inserted into the main event of Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view so quickly. It was Angle’s first time in a WWE ring in 11 years, as he teamed with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to defeat the team of The Miz, Braun Strowman, Kane, Sheamus and Cesaro.

According to PWInsider, it was Vince McMahon’s idea to add Angle to the match once WWE officials realized Roman Reigns wouldn’t be able to compete due to having the mumps. The idea was proposed internally on Thursday and Angle, who has a well-documented history of neck injuries, was given a physical on Friday in his hometown of Pittsburgh to ensure that he was medically cleared for an in-ring return.

Once Angle received the green light from his doctors, the WWE announced his addition to the main event minutes later. The announcement, which was made just two days before TLC, was completely unexpected and sent the WWE Universe into a frenzy.

In Sunday’s match, Angle held his own while Ambrose and Rollins handled most of the work. Angle took a hard bump when Strowman powerslammed him through a table, sending him to the locker room to be examined by the medical team. He returned towards the end of the match and eventually performed The Shield’s patented triple powerbomb to pick up the win.

It is unclear when and if Angle will wrestle again, as PWInsider states Sunday’s appearance was a one-off deal. But after seeing Angle adequately perform on Sunday, the door is open for future opportunities for him to get back into the ring. Angle has long-expressed his desire to return to in-ring competition, so it is likely that Sunday wasn’t the last time we’ll see him perform in the WWE.
