20140810-111223.jpg

Tonight at the Hollywood park in Torance California Marina Shafir will be taking on Ananda Bell. This will be Shafir’s 2nd pro fight and she is looking to get that W tonight.

That’s not all planed for chaos at the casino though because fellow Glendale Fighting Club Athlete Jemyma Betrian looks to make her MMA debut. Jemyma does training with the 4Horsewomen (more notably in this video Shayna Baszler) not to mention Jenyma has an impressive kickboxing record of (35-2-1 with 14 of those wins coming by TKO

You can read a full article here about the bouts tonight along with a legit video highlighting both Shafir and Betrian

Happy Birthday to the Queen of Spades

20140808-003327.jpg

Its the greatest day in history and to be honest I don’t even know what to say. It’s crazy to think that an athlete could affect me in such a short amount of time but here I am saying that I can’t find the words to describe how much I truly respect this woman. Shayna Baszler made her MMA debut in 1999. That’s 15 years! I honestly wish I could say I’ve been a part of all those 15 Years but I’m fortunate enough to have nearly 1 year under my belt. In this one year of knowing who the Queen of spades is I got introduced to the #4Horsewomen and further more fell in love with the world of #WMMA because of that love I’ve met so many awesome people that I can truly say their friendships will last a lifetime. This sport of MMA and our service to the #QueensArmy is our bondage and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. I’ve had so many opportunities that I never thought I’d have.

Some people may not like Shayna Baszler’s cocky blunt attitude but you know what that’s exactly what I LOVE about her. She’s a REAL HONEST passionate kick ass human being who has been nothing but sweet to me!

Shayna is the perfect example of what hard work and determination does. She fought in a time where weigh in’s blood test didn’t exist, in a time where no one gave a shit about WMMA. She’s one of the very few active veterans in the business. Her record speaks for itself. Many consider her a pioneer of wmma and I don’t disagree. In just 22 days all those blood sweat & tears, those constant twitter wars with people that think they know everything because they watched ONE reality tv show, the injuries and the long road in took to get to the big time will finally pay off! August 30th at UFC177 will be the greatest day in UFC history because the queen of spades will take her rightful place in the octagon this becoming the 1 in 8-1

As a member of the queens army I will end it with this regardless of her heelish character she truly is one of the humblest people I’ve ever met & there’s nothing anyone can do to make me think different! 34 years ago today a legend was born! #HappyBirthdayShaynaBaszler

Every one do me a favor go wish @QoSBaszler a happy birthday! She deserves it.

Reflections of a proud “soldier”

20140802-172618.jpg

Just had a realization and wanted to share it with you all. In September it’ll be a year that I’ve been enlisted in the queens army & that I’ve been following MMA. In that short time I’ve had crazy opportunities involving the queen and the rest of the 4Horsewomen that I won’t explain because y’all should already know what they were and are. In these 11 months Shayna was suppose to make her UFC debut 3 TIMES! November 30th 2013 in Vegas, April 16th 2014 in Canada, and August 2nd in Los Angeles CA. I thought for sure that was the way of the universe and God telling me that I was meant to be at that fight, but I was WRONG because all the signs pointed elsewhere. The fight that was suppose to take place this evening was snuffed away from a lot of people due to the injury of Jose Aldo. Now here me out, as I sit here tonight thinking about what should have been the greatest day in wmma history today. It hit me. Had the fight still be tonight I wouldn’t of saw it anyway. With shayna’s fight being on the main card right before the co main I would’ve missed it because I DIDN’T have a hotel booked & I would’ve had to leave early to catch the train back home. So you want to talk about the universe aligning in a certain way and showing me signs? Well what I thought was a big enough sign in aug 2nd still remains because after what I realized just now I know now more then ever that I am meant to be there cheering on the queen and all these Unfortunate events where for the greater good and will soon reveal its purpose on Aug 30th like Shayna says

“Me and my army will march on and continue to conquer Mercilessly. Many will jump on and off the ship to hell & back. To those who stay I will reign in blood and you will be greatly rewarded. To those who bail we will not save you.

I believe that aug 30th is my award ceremony and the award ceremony for all Queens Army members alike

I’ll end it with this in such a short period of time not just Shayna but all of the 4Horsewomen have changed my life in ways that they might not even fully understand. They have given me something new to be passionate about and a new family. They’ve all shown me time & time again that they appreciate me just as much as I appreciate them. They will go to bat for me just as much as I go to bat for them, so if any of you ladies just so happen to read this all I can say is THANK YOU!!

As noted yesterday Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke was scheduled to undergo hand surgery this morning after she broke it in two places in her fight against Leslie Smith just two days ago. It is now being reported once again via twitter by her mom Mabel Duke that Jessanyn is now out of surgery & it went smoothly. She also thanks you for all the prayers. Gina Carano will be signed to the UFC by Monday?

20140718-131753.jpg

It was noted yesterday on DTRTwrestling weekly that there was talks of Gina Carano being signed to the UFC by next week. Now it is being said the UFC president Dana White is scheduled to meet with Carano Monday, after UFC’s event in Ireland. White is almost positive that some sort of deal will be worked out. White also said that Carano’s first fight in the UFC will more then likely be against Ronda Rousey for the title sometime in December. You can read the full article here http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/7/18/5916115/dana-white-will-meet-with-gina-carano-monday-and-is-pretty-confident

What do you guys think? Do you think it’s fair that Carano will more then likely automatically be getting a title shot even though she hasn’t competed since 2009??

I mean after all this is a fight lots of fans have wanted to see plus the champ herself has made it clear she’d love to fight Carano. Sound off let us know how you feel about this possible bout.

Jessamyn Duke set to undergo hand surgery

20140717-232959.jpg

Some pretty upsetting news for members of the Gun Club. It was announced via twitter @Mable_Duke (Jessamyn’s mom) that the bones in her palm are not suppose to be sticking out and that Jess will need surgery to repair the problem. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning (Friday) you can check out the tweet here

For those who don’t know Duke broke her hand in two places in her bout against smith last night (7/16/14 at UFC fight night 45) after landing a right to the face of smith. Due to the injury Duke was unable to properly defend when pushed up against the cage. Smith then hit Duke with a knee to the liver which caused Duke to drop ultimately leading to the stoppage by the referee.

After the fight via twitter smith thanked Duke for the fight into which Duke responded “No THANK YOU. Disappointed that I couldn’t give you more but grateful for the opportunity nonetheless”

One can assume that a rematch between these to is bound to happen, but first things first. It’s recovery time for “The Gun” on behalf of everyone here on DTRTwrestling we would like to extend our well wishes to Jessamyn and hope for a speedy recovery. As a huge fan I would like to personally say that no matter what happens I’ll be here eagerly awaiting her return to the octagon. She has my support 100%

You can check out photos of the injury below.

Ronda Rousey Wins ESPY For Best Female Athlete

Ronda Rousey ESPY Award Nominee

Ronda Rousey took home the ESPY for Best Female Athlete at last nights ESPY Awards on Rousey beat out Maya Moore of WNBA champion Lynx, Olympic skier Mikeala Shiffrin & Breanna Stewart of Connecticut’s NCAA champon basketball team.

Rousey was also up for Beat Fighter but lost out to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Ronda Rousey injuries.

20140706-104404.jpg

Don’t let the headline scare you. Rousey did indeed sustain injuries last night in her title defense against Alexis Davis but nothing to serious. The 1st being a hand injury. Apparently Rousey has been working with this injury for quite sometime. She’s had it ever since before her fight with Sarah Mcmann in February. Rousey says in her last two fight camps she kept ripping her knuckle open and she wrapped it up dismissing it as nothing serious. She admits she should’ve taken it more seriously because the ripping of the knuckles eventually became a cyst. With the punches she landed on Davis the cyst popped requiring the champ to get 9 stitches. Rousey now says she hopes the cyst is gone now but will be going to the doctor to get it checked out

The 2nd injury isn’t a injury rather then a precautionary measure After years of combat she’s going to get her knee scoped out. She says its nothing serious but it’s more of maitnence she needs to be doing. In a post fight interview last night she says she expects to be out for four weeks. She also had this to say about her injuries. “It’s my right hand and my right knee. It’s cool I’m left handed anyway”

UFC 175 results

20140706-101059.jpg

UFC 175 took place from Las Vegas Nevada at Mandalay Bay Casino (last night on July 5th) with it being fight week and all it was sure to be an exciting card and I gotta say it indeed delivered. There were two titles on the line. The middleweight title and the women’s batemweight title. The 1st title defense featured Ronda Rousey (C) vs Alexis Davis, in a bout that lasted an astonishing 16 secs! Rousey came out swinging and hit Davis with an overhand right which by this time Davis was already rocked. Rousey then delivered one of her infamous judo throws followed up by a series of punches to the face of Davis which called for a stoppage by the referee.

In the second title bout we saw Chris Weidman (C) vs Lyoto Machida. Let me just say this fight was an AMAZING thrill ride. The bout went all 5 rounds, the first two easily belonging to Weidman the third and forth could’ve been anyone’s game and the 5th had Machida finishing strong. In the end the judges scored it as a unanimous decision in the favor of weidman.

So there you have it both Americans retained their titles last night in champion like fashion.

Other note notable mentions goes to Stefan Struve and Matt Mitrione their bout was called off when (the returning Struve) blacked out in the locker room.
Another stand out fight for me would be the one between Uriah Hall and Thiago Santos in which Uriah won via unanimous decision dispute a broken toe that was sticking outside of the skin. That’s a heart of a true fighter
forsure. You can check out the full results here
http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/7/5/5869083/ufc-175-results-weidman-vs-machida

All and all I really did enjoy this card even if the main reason why I paid only lasted 16 secs. What did you guys think? Did you enjoy UFC175? Let us know.

Rousey vs Davis (in photos)

The co main event last night at UFC175 featured the undefeated UFC women’s Batemweight champion Ronda Rousey defending her title against challenger Alexis Davis. Now for this fight I hope nobody went to use the restroom or went to get snacks because by the time you would’ve gotten back to your tv it would’ve been over. In fact the walk out entrances were longer then the actual fight itself! The fight lasted all of 16 secs! With Rousey picking up the win via TKO. This is Rousey’s 2nd TKO win of her career and the fastest bout she’s ever had while competing in the UFC. I will be doing another post later about UFC175 as a whole but for now please enjoy these pictures of Rousey vs Davis
