AEW personality Jeff Jarrett has said that Vince Russo is dealing with “serious mental health issues.”
In 1999, both Jarrett and Russo left the WWF for WCW, where Double-J became a multi-time World Champion.
Russo, who was responsible for some of the WWF’s biggest moments during the Attitude Era, has been lambasted for decades due to his booking during his WCW tenure.
Speaking on the latest episode of his “My World” podcast, Jarrett spoke about Russo and his alleged issues. He said,
“Candidly, he’s got serious, serious, and I’m speaking from experience, he’s got serious mental health issues. There’s no doubt in my mind, and I’ve said it for years.”
Vince Russo is claiming that he worked as a consultant for the USA Network for the past 2 years.
In a video posted on his YouTube account, Russo says the consulting job lasted from 2020 (just before WrestleMania) until 2022. Russo didn’t go into too much detail on his YouTube channel because he wants his followers to find out more by subscribing to his Patreon account.
Russo said the following on the free version posted on his YouTube account:
“I’ve been keeping a little secret for the last two plus years that I want to talk about on this show. I want to come clean. People tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. When I start talking about the network, people actually think they know more about the network, and where the network stands pertaining to Raw and its audience and its numbers, than I do. Well, bro, I’m gonna break the news to you on this show. I’ve not said this publicly before from March, pre mania, bro. It was right before Mania in 2020 up until this past Mania in 2022. So basically, bro for two years, I was consulting for the USA Network, bro…”
“For two years, bro, the USA Network paid me very, very, very well. Now, if you want to know how this came about, let’s take a couple of steps back and I will explain this to you. I got in contact with the Vice President at the USA Network who was overseeing Raw, he knew who I was [and] called me back immediately. And we had a long, long, long discussion. And as the Vice President who oversaw Raw…so the first thing he did was he went directly to Vince McMahon….”
“So for two years, two years, I was consulting weekly with the USA Network. For two years, I heard the number and the rating and the viewership and the return on the investment…Don’t tell me I don’t know what the f**k I’m talking about. When it comes to numbers, when it comes to networks. I don’t care if it’s if it’s 1999 or 2020. I know where they stand. I know what they’re looking for. I know what’s acceptable and unacceptable because I had communication with them for two straight years. So don’t tell me I don’t know what the f**k I’m talking about bro when I am working directly with the network that WWE Raw is on.”
In 2021, Russo stated, “After knowing Vince McMahon for 30 years & having great success w/him during my time at WWE–yesterday he & I had our FINAL EXCHANGE. It’s an unfortunate story & sad in many ways, but, Closure is good.” Earlier this year, Russo claimed that Vince McMahon asked for his thoughts on the WWE product. Russo said he offered to work as a consultant for McMahon but he wasn’t going to do it for free. Russo said the following in May 2022: “But I certainly was not gonna do that for free because the product is horrible. I was just looking to help the guy because the product is horrible!”

Today The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling welcomes back to the show our favorite guest of all time, Jim Cornette. Fresh off of being served with a protective order by his longtime nemesis Vince Russo, the leader of the “Cult of Cornette” discusses what this rivalry means to him personally as well as how it has lasted as long as it has. John and Chad also bring up the topics of booking ideas, taking credit for angles and story lines and the inclusion of Eric Bischoff and Bruce Prichard into what seems to be this endless feud. The full episode can be downloaded at this link.
How WWE Network‘s Table For 3 may have been the catalyst for the recent developments between Cornette and Russo:
“When you just say it like that it just sounds so crass. We had a great time doing Table for 3 and it got such great feedback on Twitter, people raved and everybody wanted to see more and petitioned the WWE to see more. The only person that actually didn’t like it was Vince Russo. He kind of got offended (I guess) that as part of the discussion that we had and that Eric Bischoff and I who have never been friendly and it was the first time we had talked face to face in over twenty years bonded over a mutual dislike of Mr. Russo. As that came up and we mentioned that, the WWE was quick to flash that picture up there because I guess they wanted to make that point and he got offended. We exchanged some harsh words in both directions on our podcasts.
“I had said some harsh things that I have expressed remorse about and in fact on my YouTube channel, the statement is up there now and finally when I had said such harsh things about Vince Russo that I was served with a protective order and that he accused me of stalking him for eighteen years, I didn’t realize that I had taken it that far and I had no idea of that. It ordered me to stay away from him, his family, his residence (that I’ve never been to) and his wife (that I haven’t seen in over twenty years) and to never call his phone (that I never called and didn’t have the number to until last week) but I shouldn’t do that and I am not going to do that because after all it is court ordered. I really feel bad and express remorse that I scared the little fella so bad that he would have to go through something like this and it has gone too far. So we will be lighting up on the poor thing and I don’t want to be accused of putting somebody in fear of their life.”
Was there any way to patch things up prior to the protective order:
“He went on his show again and demanded that I come on his show or let him come on my show or go on somebody’s show and say these things to his face on Skype. I took it too far (of course) and said I’d be happy to say these things to your face and whatever happens will happen and lets settle this and that didn’t work out well because I got a protective order. So we aren’t going to be talking face to face or contacting each other at all because that is strictly forbidden so that debate will never happen. But I thought we were starting to work through our issues until that Table for 3.
Bruce Prichard and Eric Bischoff’s feud with Vince Russo heating up:
“Poor Bruce Prichard. I didn’t hear the whole show but I guess Vince got upset because they read significant portions of a book that he wrote on the air and it made him look bad because I guess it was completely different things than what he is saying now but I don’t know. I never read it so I can’t comment. I hope that Bruce certainly doesn’t certainly doesn’t take anything too far like I did. Of course Eric Bischoff. He had mentioned that he doesn’t hate Vince Russo, he just takes him for what he is and I believe that is a ‘pathological liar’ was the quote. But I can’t remember because I saw that second hand.”
Prichard addressing Russo’s claims that he was a “pill head and alcoholic”:
“That basically is saying that Vince was lying about it. When you say that I am afraid now that Vince is going to have to go to court again and get some kind of order against Bruce. You can’t go around calling Vince Russo a liar because he does not take that well. I don’t think we should be smearing his reputation anymore because after all he is a fine, upstanding human being.”
“Apparently, every major wrestling personality in probably the history of the world that he has ever worked with and he’s like the scientists on global warming. 97% of them are so jealous of Vince and so upset about what he’s accomplished that they lie and talk about how crooked and how much of a cheat and a con man and a scoundrel he is. He is going to have to spend a lot of time in court serving all these papers. I wish we would just stop impugning his integrity.”

Jim Cornette released a new YouTube video where he responded to Vince Russo filing an order of protection against him. In the video, Cornette detailed police officers serving him with the document, an EPO out of Posey County, Indiana, at his home.
Cornette joked that he didn’t know what an EPO was, nor did he know the location of Posey County, Indiana. He thought EPO had something to do with environmental protection or hazardous waste until one of the officers asked him if he knew a Vincent Russo. Cornette recalled laughing and joking, calling for his wife, who also thought it was hilarious. The officers informed him the order was filed due to threatening comments made on national podcasts.
“I guess I’m going to have to modify my behavior,” Cornette said in response to being served with the 9-page protective order. “I thought that we were just bros doing podcasts, he always said it was my shtick — I think that was a quote — to knock him, then I did it for downloads and attention and everything. You know, ’cause that’s what my people expected of me and etc. and you wouldn’t take out a protection order over that, you’d be foolish to do that. So I didn’t realize he was taking it so seriously.”
“And obviously the last thing that I would ever do is disobey a court order, I would not do that. And I certify that here right now in public,” Cornette said. “So I’m going to do the things this court order says because a lot of the boxes are checked off… Vince Russo says he’s been a victim of stalking by me. That I threatened to cause physical harm to him that I placed him in fear of physical harm and this would happen not only on national podcasts but that I’ve been doing this — in his own handwriting here — since October of 1999 in five different states.”
“So I’m going to stay away from Vince Russo’s house that I’ve never been to,” Cornette said in response. “And his place of employment if we can find it. And I’m going to stay away from his wife Amy, who I haven’t seen since 1997. And I won’t call him on his current phone number that I’ve never called and didn’t have before last week.”
“And most of all, I promise that I would never commit,” Cornette paused and cleared his throat. “Excuse me, hold on, I’m going to read from, I’m actually quoting here. I would never do any of these things I’m prohibited from doing. I would never commit acts of domestic or family violence, stalking or sex offenses against Vince Russo or his household members or any other kind of member that he might have hanging around. Never would I do such a thing. I swear to that.”
Cornette stated that he wants to apologize to Vince Russo for putting him in fear of physical harm. He stated the last thing he wants on his conscious is the thought of Vince Russo lying awake at night sacred of him. Cornette said he didn’t realize what he had done and feels horrible. Cornette thought after Russo’s “apology” that they were making progress. You can watch Cornette’s latest video embedded in the player above. If you use any of the quotes in this article, please provide with a H/T to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.
Looks like the fight between Vince Russo and Jim Cornette won’t be happening … because Russo has responded in their bitter battle by slapping his arch-nemesis with a restraining order.
Cornette tweeted a photo of the court document, which was filed on Friday, and it shows that Vince claims Jim has been stalking him. His caption said, “Golly, VOLDERMORT just filed a Emergency Protective Order on me. I can’t hang out with him anymore!”

According to PWInsider, Russo is claiming JC has been stalking him across state lines since 1999. He listed the 6/15 episode of Cornette’s show as an incident of stalking and harassment, due to Jim promising that he had a “gift” for Russo.
PWI also reports Cornette was served at his home in Kentucky and is ordered to stay away from Russo and his wife, as well as their home and VR’s place of employment … wherever that may be.
Jim Cornette and Vince Russo have hated each other for years, but things heated up again after Jim and Eric Bischoff bashed Russo on a recent episode of Table for 3 — causing all sides to start hurling insults.
Jim Cornette escalated his hate of Vince Russo to a new level when he went on a 10-minute expletive filled rant on his show The Jim Cornette Experience.
Cornette challenged Russo to a real fight. Cornette says he would come to Evansville, Indiana where Russo lives and meet him some place like a park. Cornette explain the rules for the fight – “No cops, no guns, and no knives and we both come alone. And what happens, happens. Nobody makes a dime off of it, nobody gets any publicity off of it, nobody’s even gonna know it’s gonna happen until after it happens when nobody hears from you anymore.”
He also says he’ll bring $5,000 and if Russo can take it from him, he can keep it.
We here at Wrestling News Blog feel that Cornette went to far in the heat of the moment, and should suffer some consequences.
Former WWE writer Vince Russo has never been afraid to express his opinions … most recently sharing the fact that he doesn’t believe women were created to be leaders.
Russo expressed his opinion on today’s episode of The Brand by saying, “As a Christian man, as a believer of The Bible, I don’t believe that women were created to be leaders. I don’t believe a woman was created to run this country based on the fact that the woman was taken from the man’s rib.”
Adding, “Woman wasn’t created first. The man was created first. The woman was created second. I believe that’s how God wanted the pecking order to be.”
Russo does, however, admit that his perceived role of women is important … saying, “I think that women have the most important job! I think giving birth and rearing kids and raising kids, and molding and shaping other human beings is more important than being a leader.”
The pundit then goes on to take issue with a listener who labeled him as sexist for his views, but defends his position that men and women aren’t created equal because they have different genitalia.
We here at Wrestling News Blog do not endorse or agree with Russo’s comments.
