TNA Is Looking For Investors

Source: WrestlingINC

It was reported that TNA Wrestling is looking for more investors. PWInsider has answered some of the questions as it relates to why this is happening.

TNA has been forced to cut back on both office space and talent that was scheduled for the UK tour. They’re unable to grow in the state they’re in, and while they’ll tread water, it won’t be profitable in the long run.

TNA is said to have a five-year plan in order, and a partner taking a percentage of the company will aid in making that a reality. The TV deals are helping keep TNA going, but Dixie Carter wants to be a “player.” It’s also said that it is believed Dixie Carter would consider an offer to buy the company outright for the right price. Carter has outright rejected several offers in the past.

Panda Energy still technically owns TNA, but they aren’t funding the company and also aren’t involved in any operations, with this being the case since about when Jeff Jarrett’s stake was bought out last year.

A source told Wrestling Inc that Josh Mathews will actually be in meetings this week with multimedia startups in relation to this.

WWE officials met with Lucha Underground back in December but nothing came of the meeting, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE was represented by Triple H and Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Cemen. There was some discussion about talent but the talks went nowhere.

On a related note, TNA recently reached out to Lucha Underground. The company floated the idea of doing a joint show in Dallas during WrestleMania 32 weekend but Lucha Underground turned the offer down. The feeling was that it would be a bad mix.

TNA On POP TV News

Major League Wrestling posted a couple tweets, noting that TNA is receiving right fees from POP TV and contracts are being offered and sweetened.

Comcast, which is the nation’s largest cable provider servicing over 112 million people, this week officially announced that POP, CMT and Spike TV will be moving to a premium tier package in select areas, putting it on the same level that Destination America is at. This is not a surprise for Pop TV as this has been in the works for awhile, as I first heard of the change last month. Basically POP will be moving from Expanded Basic to Digital Preferred and will no longer be available with Digital Economy. Digital Preferred is the second most expensive cable tier. CMT, which airs Steve Austin’s shows, will be moving to the sports entertainment package.

– On the bright side, Variety reports that Pop TV President Brad Schwartz stated this week at the Television Critics Association press tour that Pop will grow their subscriber base by close to 8 million homes in the next few months.
