Backstage News On Why Charlotte Dropped The WWE Women’s Title, SummerSlam Plans

Source: WrestlingINC

Regarding reports that Charlotte dropped the WWE Women’s Title to Sasha Banks because Charlotte is taking time off, that is not the case. PWInsider reports that Charlotte is scheduled for all future bookings and at no point did she request time off and there were never internal discussions about her taking time off.

The decision to put the title on Sasha was made for two reasons – WWE creative wanted to open the first RAW of the New Era with a big surprise by having Sasha Banks accomplish her dream, and Vince McMahon felt that Charlotte’s run as champion helped to establish the title as legitimate.

Now that there’s a foundation for the title, WWE officials are more open to switching it around and using it to help the RAW storylines. Vince is said to be a big fan of Charlotte’s work.

Triple H is said to be a huge proponent of Banks’ work and since Banks vs. Charlotte was already planned for SummerSlam, the feeling was that the change would add another dimension to their SummerSlam match. F4Wonline.com notes that their rematch is still planned for SummerSlam and that Charlotte has a “brutal” schedule coming up.

Vince McMahon Reportedly Feels Sasha Banks Only Knows One Speed And Is Injury-Prone

Source: WrestlingINC

Sasha Banks returned to the ring on weekend WWE live events after suffering what was believed to be a concussion at the May 15th live event in Charlottesville, VA. While WWE did not confirm the injury, Wrestling Observer Newsletter sticks by the claim that it was a significant concussion. The injury reportedly happened when referee Darrick Moore accidentally hit Sasha with a knee to the head.

While the injury was a fluke and not Sasha’s fault, it may look bad for her to WWE officials as Vince McMahon has said on multiple occasions that he believes Sasha knows only one speed – all out. Vince was reportedly comparing Banks to Daniel Bryan months ago as he feels she is injury-prone.

Sasha Banks Reportedly Returning To The Ring

Sasha Banks has been cleared to return to the ring, according to F4Wonline.com. It was reported earlier in the week that she was scheduled for her next evaluation on Saturday but apparently she has already had it. She’s scheduled to work WWE live events in Winnipeg and LaCrosse this weekend. It’s still believed she suffered a concussion.

The original plans for Money In the Bank had Sasha returning to TV soon to build towards a match at that pay-per-view. No word yet on if she’s scheduled for next week’s tapings.

What’s next for an emotional Sasha Banks?

Coming off the heels of Wrestlemania fans often have many questions. One of those is what’s next for The Boss Sasha Banks?

She was a part of what many are calling the best match of Wrestlemania. The triple threat between her, Chatlotte and Becky didn’t only see the dawning of the new WWE Women’s title but it also set the pace for a new era of women’s wrestling and honestly this may be the best one yet.

The women in WWE will no longer be refered to as Divas but instead just like the men they’ll be refered to as Superstars. While we still prefer the word wrestler we know this is a huge step forward in the movement that we here at WNB have been at the front of for the past 3 years and that’s the movement of making sure women’s wrestling matters.

In a interview on Backstage Fallout (which you can see above) an emotional Banks recalls that she’s been fighting to have the women’s title back ever since they changed it. She talks about how every time she goes out there she gives it her best. Banks also says she’s been very blessed to have these opportunities.

It may seem that the next contender for Charlotte’s Women’s title is none other the Natalya. We know that’s going to be one for the ages. I mean with the Hart and Flair feuds of the past the story pretty much already writes itself.
However, we are confident that The Boss isn’t out of the title picture just yet and it’s only a matter of time before she has gold around her waist.

Sasha Banks Injured?

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sasha Banks is reportedly out of action with an undisclosed injury. Her last match was December 28th on RAW, where she defeated Becky Lynch.
