Renee Young Named Full-Time Raw Commentator

WWE has named Renee Young a full-time member of the Raw announce team — making her the first woman to take on a permanent role in the WWE broadcast booth.

Young has been with WWE since 2012 — largely serving as a backstage interviewer and occasional host. She’s currently part of theMae Young Classic commentary team on WWE Network.

Earlier this summer, Young filled in on the Raw commentating team while Jonathan Coachman was away on other duties. Her performance was met with rave reviews.

Below is the announcement from WWE.com:

Starting tonight, Renee Young will be the first woman to join the Raw broadcast booth full-time.

She will now bring her unique voice and perspective to the longest-running weekly episodic program in the U.S. as she joins Michael Cole and Corey Graves at the commentary desk. Renee joined WWE in 2012 and has served as a backstage interviewer and commentator on Raw, SmackDown LIVE and NXT. She is currently part of the Mae Young Classic commentary team on WWE Network.

In turn, Jonathan Coachman will take over as the new host of WWE’s pay-per-view kickoff shows. A veteran broadcaster with more than 20 years of experience hosting shows for WWE, ESPN, MSG Network and the Golf Channel, Coachman will bring his unique style to millions of viewers around the world on WWE Network, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and WWE.com, as the host of WWE’s pay-per-view kickoff shows. Coachman will begin his new role this Sunday, Sept. 16 alongside WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, David Otunga, Sam Roberts and Peter Rosenberg prior to WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-viewevent.

Renee Young To Make RAW Commentary Debut On Monday

WWE has announced that Renee Young will serve as guest commentator for Monday’s RAW from Greensboro, NC.

Renee will call all three hours of RAW with Michael Cole and Corey Graves. Jonathan Coachman will be fulfilling another obligation, according to WWE. Renee is currently calling the 2018 Mae Young Classic with Cole and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.

Young will work alongside Michael Cole and Corey Graves for all three hours of the broadcast, making this the first time a woman has called an entire episode of Raw.

WWE On Renee Young Working Both Shows

Renee Young revealed on Instagram earlier this week that she will now be working both RAW and SmackDown each week now that Talking Smack has been nixed as a weekly series. WWE confirmed the change for Renee and posted the following:

No, your eyes and ears weren’t deceiving you: Longtime SmackDown LIVE interviewer Renee Young appeared on Raw this week and continued her duties on Team Blue. And she will be a fixture on both brands for the foreseeable future, WWE.com can confirm.

The intrepid Young embraced pulling double-duty this week, excitedly posting on Instagram that she was thrilled to reform her “dream team” with Raw’s Charly Caruso.

Two Raw Superstars Set To Join Cast Of ‘Total Divas’, Renee Young Not Returning

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that RAW Superstars Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax were recently added to the cast of Total Divas for season 7.

It was previously reported that Eva Marie will no longer be apart of the Total Divas cast, and now Renee Young revealed that she’s no longer part of the cast.

Young replied to a fan Saturday night on Twitter who asked if she’d still be on the show next season and Renee answered, “Nope I am not, but the new cast will crush it!!”

So it appears that Bliss and Jax will be replacing Eva Marie and Renee Young on the show.

Renee Young Comments On Getting Married To Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose and Renee Young wore their wedding rings on WWE television this week after recently getting married. The couple, who are now on separate brands following this week’s “Superstar Shakeup”, had been quietly dating for years before their relationship was featured on the latest season of Total Divas.

“Maybe about six months in, he [Ambrose] and I started dating,” Renee told Channel Guide Mag last November. “I don’t even know if I can pinpoint exactly what it was. It was like instantly we were together. We were always talking to each other. We were always spending all of our time together. It just kind of happened.

“We just caught each other’s eye and were always around each other. You hear stories from like the Twins or Nattie, girls that were around prior to me being there. They told me he wouldn’t talk to anybody, ever. Then when I came around, they noticed he is chatting with me and coming to hang out with me. He is known to kind of keep to himself. That has always been his deal. I don’t know. We just hit it off. I guess he has a thing for Canadian girls; hopefully, just me.”

In another interview with Vegas Seven last month, Ambrose revealed that he’s been stalked by fans and Renee noted that she gets “many a death threat.”

Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that there has been talk of reuniting Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose as The Shield in late 2015 or 2016. The thought is that they could bring them together every few years like DX.

 

Renee Young has been promoted & has officially joined the WWE Superstars commentary team.

 

Former TNA Knockout Rosita(Thea Trinidad) has been used on WWE TV several times lately as one of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds. It’s likely WWE will be signing her soon.

Variety reports that WWE is finalizing a new TV deal with NBC Universal that will keep RAW & SmackDown on USA Network & Syfy.

With WWE’s new TV deal with NBC Universal expected to be announced soon, there is some speculation that SmackDown will go live on Tuesday nights. Jim Ross tweeted that he believes SmackDown will go live on Tuesdays.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Hulk Hogan may appear on RAW from London even though he is not being advertised since he will already be in town for the next night’s SmackDown tapings in the same building.

Renee Young is now the permanent announcer for NXT.
