Braun Strowman Reportedly Injured, Backstage News On Why He Was Pulled From WWE Money In The Bank

Sami Zayn defeated Braun Strowman in the Falls Count Anywhere main event of last night’s RAW to earn Braun’s spot in the men’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match at the May 19 WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view.

Strowman is currently dealing with an injury, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, but that is not why he was pulled from the match. There’s no word yet on injury details, but Strowman could be working through some sort of biceps or triceps injury.

Regarding Strowman losing his Money In the Bank spot to Zayn, Meltzer reported that the removal was a part of a longer storyline that will play out over the next month or so. Strowman is working hurt, but the injury is not bad enough that he needs to take any time off right now.

There’s been a lot of speculation on Strowman’s WWE future as of late. He reportedly received heat from WWE officials after winning the 6th Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35. The end of the match was said to be a mess as Strowman forgot some of his spots. It was reported in late April that the botched spots are why Strowman hasn’t had much of a push since winning the Battle Royal.

Backstage News On Sasha Banks’ WWE Status, Who Is Getting Banks’ Spot AT WWE Money In The Bank?

Sasha Banks was set to compete in the upcoming women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match, but she was pulled from the show due to her ongoing issues with WWE.

Banks was replaced in the match by Dana Brooke, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The match at the May 19 WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view will feature Brooke, Natalya, Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Mandy Rose, Bayley, Carmella and Ember Moon.

Banks was originally earmarked for the match but she has not agreed to return to work for the company after recently requesting her release.

There’s no word yet on if WWE will grant the release, but it doesn’t look like. The Observer noted that no talents will be granted their release if WWE officials feel like they would be able to help All Elite Wrestling. WWE also continues to try and re-sign everyone with big offers if they have contracts coming up, months before those contracts actually expire, due to concern over AEW.

We noted in late April that Banks was at a stalemate with WWE. She reportedly tried to quit the company during WrestleMania 35 weekend because she and Bayley were upset about being split up, and over the decision to put the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on The IIconics as they believed they would be given a lengthy title run to make them mean something. Word from within WWE was that Banks wanted to sit out the rest of her contract, and she still hasn’t agreed to return to action as of this week. There’s still no word yet on when Banks would be eligible to leave the company, but the Observer previously reported that that the company could add time to Banks’ contract for the time she spends not working, similar to the recent situation with Neville. Banks could end up being out of action for a significant amount of time if WWE adds time to the contract.

WWE did want Banks back in action and involved in the storylines, at last word, but Banks wants a lot of things to be different with how she’s booked. Banks was still scheduled for Money In the Bank when the news of her request release came out, but now she’s no longer factored into the plans for that pay-per-view.

Reason Why WWE Is Pushing Lana Heavily Once Again

Image result for Lana wins MITB qualifying match

Lana’s participation in the upcoming Women’s Money In The Bank Match is an interesting decision. She defeated Billie Kay with 2 moves on SmackDown Live to earn her spot and some fans are concerned about her being in this kind of match.

It was noted on Backstage In WWE that Vince McMahon wants to push Lana so that’s why it’s taking place when Brad Shepard continued to state a case against Lana wrestling while explaining why she’s getting this push as a part of Rusev Day.

“I mean she sucks in the ring but she’s over and the fans love her so when she comes out and wins she’s over. She’s a great package with Rusev you know that’s where she should be. Not every woman on the roster needs to wrestle,”

Although Lana might not have much of a chance in the Money In The Bank match at least she’s training for possible spots so she’ll be as prepared as possible. But it looks like she could only be in the match so Rusev Day will have a representation in the Women’s Money In The Bank match.

WWE Confirms New Start Time For Money In The Bank And All PPV Events On The WWE Network

Money in the Bank

WWE.com is now listing a new start time of 7:00 p.m. Eastern (6:00 CT) for the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV in four weeks on June 17.

This confirms a report this week stating the company planned to change up the start time of all PPV events by one hour earlier, with shows possibly running as long as four hours. WWE already started informing domestic and international PPV providers about the change.

A report by The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online indicated that while all events going forward are planned to run four hours, they may not end up going that long. The big four (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series) will also begin at 7:00 p.m. ET, but are expected to run longer than normal PPV events like Money in the Bank.

The change comes following the Backlash PPV a few weeks ago, which was the first dual-branded PPV event featuring talent from both RAW and SmackDown Live. Kickoff Shows are also scheduled to continue and either air for an hour or 30 minutes prior to the PPV. WWE has yet to reveal the official timing schedule for June 17 on the network.

WWE Reportedly Is Increasing PPV Length Beginning With Money in the Bank

Money in the Bank

Beginning with the Money in the Bank PPV on June 17 from Chicago, WWE will be increasing the length of all Pay Per View events to a four-hour minimum per multiple wrestling media reports on Monday night.

WWE is said to have informed many of their main domestic and international PPV providers, including InDemand and Sky TV, that the Money in the Bank PPV will be pushed back from its usual 8:00 PM ET start time to a 7:00 PM start time and that most PPV events will begin at 7:00 PM ET going forward.

This means that the Kickoff pre-shows will likely start at 6:00 PM ET.

It is also said that the WWE’s four major PPVs (WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble) will all become five-hour PPV events going forward. This is being done as a way to accommodate both rosters for RAW and Smackdown Live, with all non-major events being co-branded on the WWE Network.

WWE has not issued any comment nor confirmation on this reported change.
